I can tell you that FSU and Clemson have had this discussion with the SEC and told them they would be in favor of the 9 game conference schedule.
Not that I believe the source, but unless ESPN is giving the two new teams a full share *and* expanding the size of everyone's share, then that's not a good deal, at least not in the short term. The SEC already balked at expanding to 9 conference games because ESPN would not give them additional money.
This would seem to be a dream scenario for Arizona schools for example. They keep some prominence but are away from big spending Oregon and brands like USC in their conference. It’s a fast growing state which the Big 12 now is no. 1 in. It would seem to me that they now have space to grow and should be able to get more eyeballs on their product in the conference they are in. It has never made much sense for college football to be NFL under 23 with 40 teams because despite how recruiting has become more refined, you are dealing with talent scouting of people who are not fully formed adults.
Cincinnati just sitting in the back of the room hoping no one noticed they have a chair with their name on it.
same with me and FSU felt more fun then that was before the days of Rivals and other message boards but after interacting with their fanbase online for almost 20 yrs at this point I hope they lose every game they play
Will be interesting to see the ACC’s new tv deal with the California market(Stanford/Cal), Texas(SMU), and Tulane(Louisiana) added to the conference.
Narduzzi accidentally walks into a Physics classroom at Berkeley and his head explodes. I can dig it.
Clemson BOT has a meeting now scheduled for Wednesday. There wasnt a scheduled meeting as of last Thursday until October.
Welcome folks to King Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud Stadium at Banu Hanifa field, as YOUR Florida State Aramco’s take on theeeeee Southern Baptist Association Clemson University Billy Graham Family Evangelists! Kickoff will be coming up shortly!
Hypothetical SEC if they add GT, FSU, Clemson, Miami South Miami, UF, FSU, GT, Georgia North Clemson, S. Carolina, Tennessee, Vandy, Kentucky Central Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi St, LSU West Texas, Texas A&M, OU, Missouri, Arkansas
I can see UNC, even though I don't completely agree with it, but I don't see UVA. Care to explain? And not even being snarky, legit interested to see what I'm missing.
Academics, new market, good at other non-football sports, also not so good at football that you’re not bringing additional losses so Ole Miss and Mississippi State don’t cry when we play a ten game conference schedule.
Name brand schools in states with growing populations, academic prestige that school presidents will love, mediocre football programs with elite basketball teams. Opens the conference up in the DMV and Charlotte.
Y’all looking to decrease your per team payout? Cause ESPN isn’t paying more for UVA football games no matter what other ancillary stuff they bring.
