we don’t have a future with these prospects now was the time to sell high on vaughn imo. his bat is good but idk if it’s good enough to stick at left to say nothing of if his shit ass glove even could defensively hate it!
When we get bounced from the NLDS in 5 games and AA goes on a European vacation, I will relentlessly tag him in twitter and send him similarly nasty DMs just like Tobias and bro sent to poor teel
I don't think he'll care because he already has his WS, but if we don't win this year the trade deadline should absolutely haunt him.
Which high leverage reliever was traded? We also didn’t have a need for one with AJ, Joe, and Raisel. We didn’t have the prospects for Scherzer or Verlander and other than that no playoff starters were traded. Ultimately wish we got another SP to go with Yonny in case he sucks, but we don’t have prospects, and with the expanded playoffs and the cubs and angels deciding to be buyers, there wasn’t much out there on the market
Tbh, I’m more concerned about LF. Eddie has looked pretty much disengaged lately. Especially on D. Surely to god there was an upgrade to be had out there yesterday since snit refuses to start pills vs a righty
The guy the dodgers got from the royals has been a really good starting pitcher after a rough start. Don't think they got much.
I don’t think Vaughn’s value is going to crater between now and the offseason. And with Max looking unlikely to be a Brave beyond 2024, Charlie potentially coming off the books and Wright’s injury issues, retaining Vaughn to potentially cash in for a starter in the offseason is a nice plus. Added depth to the bullpen both RH and LH along with a legit utility guy (and a backup SS) for nothing. I would’ve liked an innings eater starter just to get through the regular season, but the bar for a SP that can also meaningfully pitch for us in the postseason is pretty damn high. I don’t think that guy was out there. Team is already incredibly good. Tinkering around the margins was always the most likely operating method. Sometimes the market just doesn’t match up with what you need, and it feels like that’s how it went for AA and crew this go-round.
None of those guys really moved though. Duvy and Verdugo stayed in Boston, Carlson stayed in STL, Bellinger in Chicago, Soler in Miami, etc. Tommy Pham's a bad clubhouse guy. So that leaves...Mark Canha? And you'd almost assuredly have had to overpay the Mets to get them to make a deal with you.
Yea I don’t really get the fascination with upgrading LF given what was available. Eddie isn’t good but he’s pretty much a league average player. It’s not like he’s an absolute black hole there. It’s fine.
