I have the Cycle 2 that I ride in regularly. I swapped the Peloton clips directly onto them(also have a pair of inexpensive clips I got from Amazon) and have never had a problem with them slipping or anything.
Emma Lovewell is doing a her book tour in Santa Monica with Judy Greer as the moderator. I absolutely love both women so I thought it would be cool to go. 100 for tickets lol I’ll check the book out from the library take a class with Emma and watch and episode of Archer. Love only goes so far when you’re cheap as fuck.
From the book description: “ In Live Learn Love Well, she shares the moments in her life that shaped her into the woman she is today―from growing up in a modest home amidst the affluence of Martha’s Vineyard…” Lol this is gonna be insufferable
I think she might have been down to earth but has blown up so much it’s difficult to remain grounded. She seems to be more normal (if that’s the word) than a lot of the other “influencer” type instructors. Like I said I thought it would be cool to go some of her rides ( along with KT) have helped me when I was dealing with shit but fuck spending 100 on tickets. Mind you those were “VIP” meet and greet but that seems crazy to me.
Hard to Handle is one of my whammy songs that I just hate riding to, need to get through that one to get to Deftones
Seems like quite a few have gone that route. Not excusing it but I’m sure it’s easy to get a big head when you’re basically a mini celebrity in NY and get VIP treatment when you go out.
It's kind of funny how the platform was adverse to emo / pop-punk rides for so long and after Kendall's massive success with it, we now have every instructor rushing out a 20/30 pop-punk ride with like the same six songs (All American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, Paramore, Green Day, Avril) If you like spinning to Move Along into Sk8er Boi into Dance, Dance, there's now like 82 rides for you
agreed they have overkilled it. I bet the other instructors got jealous that Kendall had a monopoly on an untapped music source that made rides really popular. but all the songs are the same.
I’d prefer the same 6 songs to when an instructor knows nothing about the genre and chooses to explore a list full of new MGK and the like.
Just got home from a trip to London and we randomly stumbled upon the Peloton Studio in Covent Garden one of our days there. Had to laugh about it a little because they have clearly spared no expense on a very nice/large space and had people working all day even though there were no live classes scheduled. There’s also a small store where they sell apparel/equipment and we did buy a Peloton Studios London mug just to have, and even in there they splurge; the bags they give are the same durable shopping bags you get from Lulu Lemon. Emma will be there this week so too bad we just missed her
Extremely biased book review. If you love Emma as much as I do get the audiobook from your local library and listen to it at 1.5 speed. I tried reading and it isn’t well written at all. Emma might be a lot of things she does a lot of things well but two things she isn’t is an author or a narrator. I tried listening to it at regular speed but her voice was extremely monotone and frankly boring. There was no excitement in her voice. Speeding it up to 1.5 made it seem a little better gave her voice a little more enthusiasm. The book was very choppy and seemed to jump around too much. I also couldn’t decide if I was reading a self help book or a memoir. I get the feeling that she grew up lower middle class or middle class but being surrounded by extremely rich people made her feel poorer than she actually was. And to someone who grew up in a poor area it was kinda insulting. It’s like she is trying to prove how much she has overcome. If that makes sense. She did have a good insight on the bullshit that is meritocracy. Unfortunately all of the charm and personality she has on the bike doesn’t translate to the book. I’m glad I read it but I’m also glad my local library carried it so I didn’t spend any money on it. I’d have felt like a complete idiot if I’d have spent money to go see her in person. Because I’m such a Stan I’d give 3 out of 5 stars.
Someone posted the synopsis earlier in the thread and your assessment of her upbringing was exactly what I read from it. Seemed ridiculously tone deaf from someone who probably makes 200k/yr to work out
I grew up in a house in south central Los Angeles that my parents bought. I understand my upbringing was more affluent than my wife’s who lived in a one bedroom house her parents rented. I know she grew up better than someone who is homeless. Emma doesn’t seem to understand that and tries use her middle class upbringing to show how she struggled in order to justify her current lifestyle. I’m not saying she needs to justify it I’m more against using poverty porn to prop yourself up and portray yourself as the every person. I do get the impression she is a classic American liberal. She seems to understand everything isn’t equal but also doesn’t completely understand she had some help too. Or at least it doesn’t come across that she does. Like I said she had good opinion on the bullshit that is meritocracy but it almost seems like she forgot that as the book progressed. At least I didn’t come away hating who she is after reading the book.
I thought I heard at one point something about her talking about suffering some sort of tragedy when she was younger, is there anything in the book about that?
she touched on this but didn’t go into specifics. The biggest tragedies she talked about were her parent’s divorce and the overdose of an ex. Unless you’re talking about her finding lumps (non-cancerous) and having treatment for them. The problem is the book jumped around a lot. I do remember her mentioning something that happened when she was young but I don’t remember her going into detail about more than those things that I’d consider tragic life changing events.
Felt good about my ride this am Not new or anything but anyone into David Goggins? I figured since he was on JRE he might be canceled by the board, haven't watched that interview nor care to. Bought his book on a whim and its' been a great inspiration for my fitness. Guy is a psycho.
It kinda seemed like Daniel was initially recommending the book, but after reading his posts it seems he strongly disliked it. Difficult to read, choppy, forgetting themes as the book progresses, and a bad narrator? Amazing
I watched F1 Sprint on the bike after my run today and twas great…..user interface was been clunky but kind of expected for first one
I didn’t hate the book. I would recommend it if you’re a Emma fan like me. It was interesting to learn more about her. It was choppy and she seemed uncomfortable as the narrator of the audiobook. I also thought (as someone who grew up in the inner city and lower middle class) she over sold her poverty level to show how she pulled herself up. She does seem to be a liberal and did have some good takes. I’m glad I read it. I’m glad I checked it out from my local library.
My screen wasn’t filling correctly but really liked this feature. it’s under More Rides for anyone looking for it.
You don't need a brand peloton for this, but I'm a huge fan of putting it on "Just Ride" while watching the Braves (or anything for that matter). It feels slightly wasteful, since the classes are what distinguish Peloton. However; I took a huge lull from working out, and am probably in the worst shape of my life, so anything that'll motivate me to get on the bike, I'll take.
I was browsing the Hilton app earlier today and came across this. I knew Hilton had a partnership with Peloton, but never knew they’d have individual rooms with the bikes.
