Only way this is not a disaster is if 1. Players involved with lawsuits against the tour do not get to just come right back 2. Commercial tie ins all but end. FedEx Cup et al 3. The awful aspects of the broadcast end immediately 4. Playing Through is immediately extinct. Lastly - while they are at it they should pick up the LPGA because they have been horribly mismanaged since Whan left
Need to pay for NDs NIL somehow But seriously, the optics may look worse for him than anyone else involved
I heard from a friend that LIVs anti trust case was very, very strong against the PGA and they were in a strong legal position in their lawsuit. PGA overplayed their hand and got owned. PIF apparently getting a right of first refusal on all future decisions and investments by the tour. So Saudi definitely owns PGA and golf now.
It was clear for quite awhile that PGA Tour leadership really had no idea what to do with this whole thing. But for it to play out this way is literally worst case scenario for them.
I think this is overplaying it, but there is some truth to it. At least enough to make it expensive for the tour to win. I think there was enough contradictions and missteps by LIV for the tour to win, but would have likely come with some level of compromise and a shit ton of legal fees
they were Newcastle fans before the PIF arrived at least. what excuse does someone have for being a LIV "fan"?
What exactly is PIF? I thought it was just a term made up to pay golfers for their social media presence.
that PIP. PIF is Public Investment Fund. It's the Saudi Arabian Government's investment in private enterprise.
probably somewhat. the info came from an anti trust lawyer that was advising LIV/the saudis on the case so I’m sure they were favoring their position
It was so nice not having to watch Reed, Phil, DeChambeau, and the other assorted shit heels every week.
For someone to have bungled this so poorly to end up winning out is terrible news. But all the bad guys won here.
While this is obviously a big day for golf, it's probably a bigger day for mental gymnastics Think of how many rich white guys suddenly don't mind politics in sport
there was litigation between the two entities over whether PGA Tour was violating anti-trust laws, but a horizontal merger of this scale almost begs for the federal trade commission to get involved to not allow this under anti-trust laws.
no one can really read the true intent of your posts because all you do is lame drive-by grievance posts and then disappear when someone asks you to even remotely substantiate your point hth
