I second CF recommendation. You definitely want to do a couple days at Gaylord if you want a nice hotel and pool day. Matter of fact we decided to stay there our entire trip last summer when we went to Legoland because we didn't really care for the on property/near by hotel and restaurants and just drove from Gaylord to Legoland. It's only about 30 mins away and it's not like you need to be there at park open to do everything there it's not 90 min lines like Dis/US.
got on RoR yesterday and the damn thing broke down. Luckily we were already at the end of ride and was only stuck for 15 min. Got LL to Tron tonight between 6:45 - 7:45. Rolling up there at 7:44:59 Also I’m Team Bourgeois aka Team Genie+ from here on out. Totally different experience. From now on I will just add it as a line item for the trip when budgeting.
No doubt, Genie + was 100% worth it even at the surge price, It’d be an absolute steal at the $15 price point.
Anyone take their 6-8 year olds on Cosmic Rewind? Should I chance it? they’ve loved everything else so far.
my 8 year old loved it and she was not a thrill ride kid. After that, she took more chances and now loves coasters.
Thanks for the feedback. I forgot that, yesterday, they didn’t enjoy Space Mountain. It was the dark that got them. 7DMT, Big Thunder, Slinky, etc they were fine with. But that darkness freaked them out. with this in mind, we may just do rider swap and maybe take them in 2 years when we come back.
If they had a problem with Space Mountain, then Cosmic Reeind is def not for them. It is basically a updated Space Mountain
I disagree. The mood of guardians is completely different. There’s fun music playing and big screens that light up the room. Space mountain is a carnival coaster in the dark where you feel like you could die at any moment.
That’s true but from what I recall, there were moments you were falling/twisting in complete darkness
what scares every kid is different imo. I get where you are coming from by saying that Cosmic is a modern space mountain, and you really aren't wrong. It's a roller coaster that takes place indoors with minimal lighting, no inversions, etc. But IMO the rides give off two completely different feels. Space mountain is jerky with sudden movements. So while you are never really going that fast, you feel like you have no idea what is coming so each turn or drop makes your stomach turn. You also have this feeling of being in a confined space because the ride is so compact and you can feel the steel beams just over your head the entire time. Guardians to me is just an endorphin rush. It's so smooth and happy with the music that you never get the stomach dropping feeling that space gives you. The ride is also really "open" so you never feel that fear of if I raise my arms at the wrong time I could lose it that you have with space mountain. That's just my take on the two rides. IMO if a kid is willing to try it, you should encourage them to do guardians, because the ride is awesome.
Avatar, both rides, were outstanding. Doing LL at Animal Kingdom totally changed my perception of the Disney experience. Loved it. Will 100% come back when little Butch is 5-6.
Animal Kingdom rocks so hard. It’s also the one park my son (11 months old) actually seems interested in (besides staring down random people).
Big time. My wife would also be fine with getting a snack and watching the monkeys jump around all day.
Animal Kingdom was my favorite park when I visited. The uniqueness of the park along with the 2 best rides.
Did Animal Kingdom again today. This park is so underrated. Took the kids to Raifiki’s trail. The kiddos were able to hit the petting zoo and learned to draw Bambi in the animation camp.
My kids really liked doing the wilderness explorer badges. Learned a lot and got to see a bunch of stuff they may have otherwise looked right past.
We did the safari. Was bumpier than a roller coaster, but was awesome to see the animals that close. Bugs Life video may be dated, but was really fun experience. Lion King was nice, though they should figure something else out with Simba, he just sits up there. Have an actor portray him or something.
Such an underrated Pixar movie. Maybe not underrated as much as frankly forgotten. I feel like if that came out today we would no doubt see sequels.
I have not been to Disneyland in quite awhile but was planning to go in the future. I saw they had these lightning lane options for fastpasses but noticed rise of the resistance is not on there. Is there any way to get an individual fast pass for that ride or is there just no option and you have to wait it out? I heard the wait is brutal
Gotcha, do you have to do it at the park? I may be blind but I do not see an option to get it on the website
If it’s anything like avatar, you have to have the Genie+/LL purchased first; then you’ll have the option to book LL for an extra like $16.
Going to magic kingdom tomorrow morning. Can I buy Genie+ prior to the 7am window where we can start booking the rides? Or does that need to all happen at once?
You can buy it between midnight and 7am. The window to start booking doesn’t start until 7am, though.
I made the mistake of buying G+ at 930pm on Tuesday, thinking it was for Wednesday. Woke up at 7 on Wednesday trying to book a LL, and realized the G+ was still for the same day as purchase. Luckily Disney chat refunded my purchase from Tuesday night.
Never been on a cruise before, done Disney World with the wife’s family a bunch of times. Wasn’t too excited about the Disney Cruise but it far exceeded my pretty low expectations. I could definitely see myself doing this again.
big kid loved Cosmic Rewind. Younger was a little scared but said it was cool. glad we took them on it. Way better experience than Space mountain. Got home last night. That was a great time. Thanks to everyone here for the tips. Avatar FOP was our favorite. What a great experience. Rise was really awesome too. The kids loved the drop. Galaxy’s Edge and Pandora were my and the wife’s favorite areas. Kids it was galaxy’s edge and Toy Story land.
Outside of giving it to them in person, tearing these strips up and putting them in the envelope to give your servers and hostess feels pretty impersonal, is this what most people do?
I just gave them the amount that was already determined on the strips, about $95 for the server and hostess, $75 for the assistant server and $25 for the head server. Thought that was fair, they all did a great job.
Got to do both Tron and Guardians for the first time today. Both were great, but Guardians > Tron for me. Guardians might be my favorite of all WDW rides. Such a cool experience
They need to figure out a way to bring the guardians ride to DL considering they have the whole land. The Spider-Man ride they have really missed the mark and most people don’t even like it
Agree. Other than the unique stance of the lightcycle, tron is just a decent coaster. May be a hot take, but going outdoors after the launch breaks the immersion for me.
I kinda agree. I did Tron during the daytime, and I imagine it would a different (and likely better) experience at night. That was a helluva launch though, definitely caught me by surprise.
They whiffed on Avengers Campus in general. It just feels empty and sparse. They were pretty clearly pinching pennies the entire development process.
which is stupid because if done properly it’d have the same draw as galaxy’s edge does. Cars land is so much better than avengers campus is
makes me sad that people love guardians so much it's a smoother space mountain and the fact that they promised so much about turning the vehicles so that you could see screens was such a waste considering Tron does that part much better and was built before guardians
