I am staying near Lake Eola Park if that's helpful. Won't have a car but happy to walk wherever or Uber/Lyft.
Jinya Ramen and Soco are good and close to you. Kress is a bit of a hike but pretty good dinner fare. Hawkers is an Uber for you but good and somewhat unique. I pretty much avoid downtown at all costs but there are for sure some better eateries than the few I listed. I'm sure some others can jump in here.
Most anywhere on mills for really good Asian food. Pho 88 and Chuan lu my favs. You should try to get a spot at The Strand for dinner though. It's the best.
Let me know if anyone’s tried the new Filipino fine dining place on Mills called Kaya. Interested to see how it does. I feel torn about it. On one hand, I don’t think Filipino food should ever be fine dining and on the other, happy that there’s representation
Check out Casey’s (not off the lake but close and good chill more adult dive bar), relax grill is right off the lake and serves like fruity drinks. They also pour very heavy. World of beer is a good option too they’re also right off the lake
Wasn't planning to drink this week but what is a man to do in downtown Orlando by himself? Googled some arcades/"barcades" but no good reviews unfortunately.
There used to be one closer to you, but the only other one is all the way on church street and I don't think you want to walk all the way down there. Especially since it aint really any good imo
Here for work. Staying downtown due to proximity to the office. Been approached by two different homeless fellas in ten minutes but neither were interested in a free meal. Only cigarettes or a drink.
The warning is appreciated. More of a weekend or Thursday night spot than a Tuesday night work trip spot. And yet!
Jinya was absolutely delicious. Haven't had ramen in years due to my hometown not having many good options and primarily my wife not being a fan. Jinya scratched an itch in a big way. Now, to hope the spicy ramen bowl doesn't wreck stomach later! Thanks for the rec roggins !
Just ran into them at the Strand. They have spent about $30 mill in the last year buying up real estate.
Well until last week it was on central on lake Eola but we just closed. Now it's UCF But let me know, I have my office still downtown and have pops if you want one.
What price point if jinya? I got some Ramen people I know but they're pretty cheap and curious for them
I had a good sized spicy chicken ramen bowl, a house salad, and a curry rice plus one beer. $33.50 before the tip.
Apparently every right wing militia guy thinks so too. Always some horrible 3 percenter or something hanging out there.
I hit it on Thursdays or Fridays every now and then for happy hour with a few friends. Easy to get to and central for my group. It is always a bunch of hipsters and afterwork folks. Never seen what you have described. Bartenders are way cool and a free shot magically appears every three drinks or so.
The bartender at Casey's yesterday saw my name on my credit card and said "I went to high school with a guy named [my name]." I asked if he was a cool guy and he said "Oh yeah, he used to fuck fat chicks all the time!" Legend.
There is some big ass project going in church Street with a brewery, 4 upscale restaurants, a speakeasy and other shit. It’s allegedly almost fully leased out and opening summer 2024.
Is church street not a spot to go anymore? Feel like I frequented it a bunch when visiting friends 2012-14??
There’s just a lot of that in Orlando all around. In my experience with Lure Ive been hit on by stray gay guys more often than I’ve seen the Trump/DeSantis element there, but I also just don’t go out much in general anymore
Mortgage and Mortgage is more like it. I work for a company with a regional office here and they had me come in for a couple days to do some stuff.
