I did a home test through my doctor instead of the in lab sleep study. It was half the cost and consisted of an adhesive chest monitor and finger monitor.
Home study a couple of years ago due to COVID. 67 events an hour and stopped breathing for over a minute at one point. I swear the machine beeped at me to wake me up on that one. I'm not overweight so that isn't really a factor. Severe sleep apnea just runs in my family. I can really tell the difference during the day if I don't use my machine at night.
Had mine for a year now. It’s incredible how much better I feel. I have to be without it when I’m on call and I definitely notice the difference
I need a new one. I've been using this for something like 6-7 years now. It's currently under recall and I'm waiting for Phillips to send me a new device.
I talked some dude on the phone and he said it goes by the serial #. It starts with a letter and they are in the J's and mine starts with a P. As far as the recall goes.
If you wanna get real fancy you can get some aroma therapy going. I use the Calm and Clear. https://pur-sleep.com/
after 4 months i still rarely fail to rip it off my face at night without waking up or having any idea I have removed it until my wife hits me from hearing me snore. Any tips on, uh, not doing this?
Nasal or full face mask? I did that in my first year of having it, and still do like twice a year. It took me a long time to get used to wearing a full face mask.
used lofta to get one about 6 months ago. rarely used it except the last couple of weeks. i've had a lot of problems with leakage and it waking me up. used a nasal and full face but i definitely feel a lot better when I wear it.
Did the at home study last night so they can update the settings for the new one they are going to get me. Apparently I snored like a bastard last night according to the wife. She didn’t realize it was a test and goes “I hate your new mask thing…you snored all night.” This thing has probably done more to help my marriage by reducing my snoring; than I could ever do.
How do you wear it? Do you put it on and go to bed or do you stay up for a bit? I did that when I first got it but my machine has a ramp mode that builds up the pressure gradually. I also actually had to turn up my pressure a bit.
Signed up for Lofta. Obviously hoping the findings are negative, but I suspect there will be some events based on my snoring and generally being a large human.
I snore pretty loudly fairly often but my wife has never said I stopped breathing and I generally feel good when I wake up in the morning. I'm guessing I'd feel kinda sleepy through the day if I had sleep apnea, right?
I've had mine for four years, and it has changed my life. It took a couple of months to get used to it, but when I started making the straps around my nose tighter than by my chin, it solved the issue with air escaping the mask and I was able to sleep through the night. I noticed a change in the first week. I used to fall asleep all the time sitting on the couch, and never felt well rested. Now, even if I get 6 hours of sleep, I feel ready to go. If I try to nap without the mask, I struggle falling asleep. It sucks when you first get the device, but don't give up.
If you can't remember the last time you had a dream, that's the indication that you are not getting REM sleep At its worst I literally couldn't stay awake at work. Would doze off in my office pretty much every day where there was downtime
I did not They just sent me the name of a DME provider and they called me to come in and get fitted and pick it up Only choices was the mask type
You can upload your RX on CPAP.com and buy your machine there. They always have a sale going on. You only have to upload a RX once and you can buy a new one anytime you want without a new RX.
Just received a text from Fedex that I have a package arriving from Phillips Respironics. It should be the replacement APAP device for my old ass recalled Phillips System One. I have no clue what my replacement device will be. edit: looks like the only thing they make now is the Dream Station. So it'll probably be one of them.
I received today a brand new Dream Station 2. I already know that I'm going to hate the exhaust being on the end instead of on top with a swivel. Otherwise ready to get rid of the tank.
This is the model that I have. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. It doesn’t ramp down as well as my last one when I exhale so occasionally I feel like I’m being smothered.
I'm reading the manual now and you might be talking about 'Flex'? Which adjusts the amount of pressure you feel when you exhale during therapy. Your home provider can enable or disable this feature.
I saw a YouTube or something where a guy took a swivel lamp that attached to the headboard of his bed and loosely ziptied the hose of his CPAP to it. So when he tossed and turned the hosed moved with him and stayed mostly centered and didn't pull against the mask. I keep meaning to try that setup as well.
Yes. I did that too. . Plus I would fall asleep at stop lights. That was 20 years ago. I’ve been on CPAP ever since. My quality of life is much much better.
So I called homeboy and he walked me through the settings to make the air warmer. I’ll try it and let you cool cats know if it works
