Recently replaced my 2020 Rubicon (25k miles, sold it for $2500 less than purchase price in 2019) with a BMW m340i @MSRP. Build quote 6+ months, but it arrived in just over 3. So much fun to drive Spoiler
yes, that was mentioned last page or the page before. it's definitely worth me looking at it despite my wife laughing every time I mention owning a Kia
Na, not really. It was cool, but not fun to drive. m340i is a blast & I don't have to wave at every Jeep I pass anymore
Have her sit in one and drive it. I'm confident she'd change her attitude on owning that brand. At the very least ease up on the laughter ;)
FWIW I never imagined I’d ever own a Ford and thought Kias were cheap garbage and look at me now, on Ford #2 and a Kia on the way.
Carnival. While I personally would stay 100% electric moving forward, my wife is a harder sell and really wanted a mini van. It’s more about the van than the electric.
I work primarily from home & typically drive 10-15k miles a year... milage is just skewed low due to Covid. Jeep was great & no regrets. CPA advised I finance a car though my biz... so that, coupled with the used car premium I got for my trade, guided my decision.
Allows additional write-offs through the business, that I couldn't claim on a personal vehicle, plus allows for the Biz to depreciate. We have 2 other vehicles, so will likely claim 90% as biz usage. Should amount to a sizable tax break.
I just made the mistake of reading a review on the new 2023 C43 AMG (not out yet). 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. I keep telling myself that it’s not big enough…
Thought I got an amazing deal on a loaded 2016 Grand Cherokee with low miles until 2 weeks in the traction control warning light would come on and would intermittently "lock" the diff at low speeds. Took it to a dealer in hopes of it being a simple problem and now they've had it for 6 weeks, the interior is totally disassembled while they are tracking down a grounding issue
Pperc buy a 392 Wrangler. You solve your power and fun issue and you’ll never have a penny of depreciation. You mentioned them and if you care at all about depreciation that’s the only move.
Those are crazy and I’d love to test drive one… issue is price. Going to push $90k which for a car just doesn’t appeal to me edit: also my wife’s Jeep GCL came out to $55k all in and she’ll be upset if I spend a lot more on my own car since she wanted something a lot more expensive and I pushed back
I’ve been driving my 2012 Hyundai Sonata since I bought it new in, well, 2012. Haven’t had a car payment in many, many years and it received a new engine due to a recall like 3-4 years ago. I maintain it well and I’m guessing it’s got 3-5 more years in it. I’m a fairly practical guy and 75% of me is saying just keep driving the Hyundai until it doesn’t run anymore. But man, that other 25% of me is getting louder and louder, and I am seriously considering just getting a luxury sedan. I’ve never been particularly into cars so I’m not super opinionated. My parents drove Mercedes’ while I was growing up, and my dad still does, so I am partial to MBs if only due to nostalgia. Im not really interested in BMWs. I like the way a Lexus looks. Also like the thought of a luxury EV. Lol Typing this out was almost enough to talk myself out of conferring getting a new car
Ha. I was anti BMW when I got my Mercedes but I think they’ve come a long ways in a few short years with offerings and price point. Full EV in a Mercedes sedan doesn’t have a reasonable price point option. Full gas Mercedes in an E class might be good but it’s not that “sporty” if that matters to you at all. Before I had the Mercedes I had a Lexus IS250 when I lived in the city before kids - small and easy to park, drove pretty well. I think Lexus has fallen back considerably though. You could also stick with Hyundai and consider the new IONIQ6 that just debuted at the LA auto show. Full EV, sporty, sexy, pretty much everything and I’m guessing as a reasonable price point although I haven’t seen an MSRP yet.
My sister has a BMW X7 and my BIL has a 7 series, and they both love them. MB E class (is that the “full size” sedan?) seems to be what I am picturing in my head. Not really concerned about sportiness, just want a good looking luxury sedan to make me feel like a smashing, dashing and successful beautiful man.
If you are someone who actually likes the history of BMW styling, that's BS. It looks like shit, especially when almost every BMW ever has looked better than a Merc or Audi...until the last few years.
You are the ideal Genesis customer (same company). Go to them and tell them all this. There should be loyalty discounts even in the current market.
Agreed, the butt cheeks grill is an abomination that can't be tolerated. Until they fix styling and handling, I'm not looking at BMW.
I might be buying a GR Corolla next month but i strongly suspect the dealership is not actually going to honor their MSRP representation.
Order from gupton. 6% off invoice. Tell your wife her gc will be worth 20k in five years. Your 392 would be worth north of 100 in five years. Much better financial decision buying something you would definitely not lose a penny on even if it is more expensive
The Toyota brokers on leasehackr admitted that their dealers would have a 10k markup at minimum on their allotment.
I've seen everything from MSRP to 25k+ on the GR corolla forums. I was offered MSRP + something to the effect of 2500-3000 in dealer installed options which i would gladly take, but i'm pretty sure the guy who offered that to me is gonna get overruled.
this is blasphemy. I’ve never liked mb but they’ve made many cars in their past much better looking than anything bmw has ever produced
Yea that would be a pretty good deal. But you are right, one of their managers is probably gonna mess that one up for you.
Mb, until recently, has been about as design oriented as a tractor company. Utilitarian and bulletproof-ish. Their designs looked dated after five years. Bmw still look modern after 20-30 years. Bmw is definitely fucking up their design lately, imo.
Which is a bummer, because they seem to have gotten their shit together in the utilitarian aspects. Theyve always made a great machine, but took hits when the well-heeled got annoyed that it wasnt perfect (have to replace parts that wear out). Their reliability ratings are now close to Toyota I but the designs are bland at best or down right awful
I could do modern or way back. Too many beautiful mb to list. I don’t like Mercedes like I said but they make good looking vehicles and always have. Interiors shit on bmw as well
Pfft. Mb interiors had blah perforated seats and no driver centric layout. Of course, they've had design beauties. The gullwing is possibly the most beautiful. Going back to the 80s, now 40 years? Show me one design champ that wasn't a limited to billionaire buyers.
That is a beauty, though. The lines are a song in the wind. Id shave the seat back and maybe even raise the front fenders. Just a bit. But even a 2014 mom cruiser looks dated already. And that's when they've started to get glitzy
I have no idea to their reliability these days, and it pains me to say this, but: Buick makes some nice looking wagons and suvs. Bang for the buck, I'd go Mazda. They are really killing it on features, design, and reliability. I used to be a car snob but now it's a utilitarian machine for transport. Total money suck.
Buddy has what I believe is a 2012 cl63 and I think it’s a beautiful car. Always in the shop which is why I’m not a fan of the company
My dad always bought mb to impress people. I had a bunch of bmws as his dickhead son. I beat the piss out of them and only replaced clutches and brakes.
It was your inquiry that actually made me log in. I'm similar, currently. 2013 Hyundai, myself. I'm questioning how much I trust it vs. Biting the bullet for something new. It's been a car and did the trick. Growing up, cars were a status symbol and I bought into because I didn't know better. The crux is that I enjoy driving and miss that with this shit box. As such, Mazda is really killing it in the sane folks version of "I want this, but..." and still providing it
