Pepi vs. Jesus is an interesting case study of going abroad vs. staying in the MLS and putting in some goals not sure i love the conclusion there, though i don't think jesus took pepi's stpot
The only one I can live with would be Roldan. Morris and Haji should make this the last 3-5 games Gregg coaches for the USA. ETA: everything else is actually surprisingly good.
Gregg making himself pay the British tax for a guy whose not British and isn’t even Prem and when he was was absolutely fucking useless. “he plays in England. We play England. It’s a fit.” fuck offffff
Morris does not play striker. You aren’t taking 4 strikers in a 4-3-3. If you’re pissed Tillman isn’t here then blame Morris. Sargent took Pepi/Pefoks spot. “Because he plays in a physical league (the second division because he was useless in the first division like his entire career)”. Isnt Dike the greatest striker in championship history? He just scored this weekend, don’t give me this “physical” crap.
Considering out struggles at striker taking 4 makes more sense than taking more wingers that won’t play.
if I was putting a team together for something like this I would really lean on someone like Dike or Pefok as a third striker because he gives you a plan B to come on and play route one stuff. Josh Sargent isn’t changing the game.
It’s more about styles. Morris is powerful and is a beast on set pieces. And ffs, two of Aaronson (regardless of being listed as a MF), Weah, or Gio will be our wing options off the bench
I was responding to GGG referencing health/availability. Everyone knows Jordan Morris is the epitome of healthy.
Wingers and MF have much more overlay. We’re not playing 2 strikers at once. We could see Puli/Weah/Reyna/BA all on at once.
Ultimately, not really upset with the roster. Would've preferred Arriola or Tillman over Morris but we’re talking about the 5th winger. Similar with Tillman or someone else over Roldan Surprised people don’t have a CB they decided should be on the roster over Long but maybe since Ream made it that with the injuries to Miles and Richards people just accept CB being kinda fucked
I get that. My entire point is Jordan Morris sucks and there are a whole lot of players that we should have taken/deserved to be taken over him. Whether it be another winger, striker, or even midfielder. Morris going is a crock of shit
Umm, he’s a mini fridge that can run fast as hell in one direction until his knee explodes. Are you one of those entitled fans that think our players need to dribble or pass or shoot?
I hate that Long is an auto starter, but as El Pato said, I’ve come to accept it. I feel Ream deserved a call in, so glad he did.
I’m one of those fans that wants us to take our best players, and not players the manager likes or “trusts”
Although like Zardes, Jordan has a hell of a knack for being at the right spot. But he also finishes like Gyasi.
I considered this but then it’s been painfully obvious that Pefok wasn’t going to be on the roster but that hasn’t changed anything in regards to complaints about him so it didn’t add up to me
The arguing over the last guy or two on the roster (especially a 26 man roster) never fails. We haven’t had that all important 3rd GK debate yet have we?
CB is just fucked and will be the actual down fall of this team. you are 100% right about this being an argument over 5th winger, realistically he’s coming in on the 88th minute. Im a Pepi guy and that definitely plays into my anger. I think on form he’s our best striker and the one guy we have who has the potential to be a match winner up front in a knockout game. So Jesus is our starting 9 right?
IMO, Jesus starts vs teams that play deep. He’ll get on the ball, pull out CBs, play in the wingers. Haji starts vs teams that want to play with the ball. Let him run behind and make the CBs nervous all game. Let him hold the ball up as the wingers run by. Pepi/Pefok are the best 70th minute subs to make that back post run or get on that header at the 6 when you’re desperate and looking for prayers. Since those are the only 4 strikers worth mentioning I’ll end my post.
Hmmm, I certainly remember a poster who shall not be named changing the thread title to “A New Hoppe” at one point.
I’d much rather him be there than Morris. Neither would/should get any minutes, but I would imagine he’s 100x the leader Morris is.
Correct that neither should see barely any minutes and not being called in is brutal for Arriola, but I don’t understand suggesting Morris isn’t good in the locker room.
Let’s revisit this when we’re 0-0 against Iran in the 80th minute after not scoring in our first two games
