There’s a bunch of people that aren’t poor and do this. Even people without funds have access to public shelters that are in structures that are safe. There’s virtually no excuse to die that way unless you are indigent and have no one caring for you.
My gutters kept washing away the soil so I put down gravel and it is holding up so far. Very minor update but Jax is getting a ton of rain and wind. Lost power doe about 5 minutes
So.....my co-worker's dad lives in Iona Florida. He hasn't been able to get ahold of him since yesterday. How worried should he be?
This is the attitude that gets people in trouble. I’m sure a bunch of people didn’t evacuate because “it never lives up to the hype” and got absolutely crushed in SWFL.
there is reason to be concerned but I would imagine that the insane amount of damage will limit communications with that area. I would have your friend try to contact local authorities to see if anything can be done. Hopefully they touch base at some point today.
Yikes, hope his dad is ok. That looks like its a rough area to be in. Probably ruined his phone and no power though
Yeah they have almost no cell service anywhere there. All I was able to get from my family this morning was a single text saying they were OK. I called them and they picked up but I couldn't hear anything.
Thankfully just getting Tropical Storm winds here, but watching these tall trees bend and sway isn’t fun.
I live in Longwood. Just drove through the neighborhood. Lot of big trees down. The Little Wekiva River runs through my neighborhood. Water under the bridge on our main road is usually 7-9’ below. It is now less than a foot below. It is usually 10 to 15 yards wide. Now it’s 100 yards wide. And getting worse. Somehow never lost power. A lot of people are about to get rich on insurance scams.
Somehow stuck in the tail of this thing for four more hours and winds are pretty much the same as when I went to bed
Tarpon Nole how is Seminole heights? My house is still listed as having no power. Going to go check it out this afternoon and check damage. Hoping they fix the power so we can move home as long as there is no major damage.
i’d be making arrangements to gtfo of Charleston. 4-7ft storm surge would really fuck some shit up down there
My anxiety to know how my office is is through the roof over here.. Once it dies down a tad my parents are going to check.
Charleston is one of my favorite cities in the country. This likely will not end well for them. Same for Beaufort.
haven’t gone out anywhere. Know there are pockets west of Florida with no power. We didn’t get that much rain, so should be good with that as well.
I never lived in mandarin though or well I never did when I officially moved to Jax. I lived off south side in an apt, and then moved to 210 area bc it was a no brainer at the time with house prices. I lived in mandarin for 6 months when I we lived in Gainesville and I worked in Jax. I would stay there during the week.
people go into the attic with no plan on how to get out. Need an axe or something to get through roof in case in goes even more to shit
