I've been watching a lot of Seinfeld lately on Netflix, as my wife is watching it for the first time. I've noticed that through the series, Jerry wears a number of different watches, but they're always Breitlings. I've also since noticed that he always has on a different Breitling in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Not really what I would have expected.
I’m a big breitling fan but I’ve found most of my favorites don’t match others. But I’ve been really crushing on iwc right now. Hey
So a coworker saw my screen of Lacos and told me I should get a movado. Personally I think they’re ugly garbage and then the convo transitioned to tiers of watches. She got all pissed when I mentioned They weren’t regarded very highly. “What do you mean, they’re like thousands of dollars how are they a crummy watch?” Showed her bubba Watson’s watch with price and she stopped.
Good illustration of how niche watches are as a hobby. Always a good reminder that no one notices or cares what watch you’re wearing.
We get obsessed about this stuff and sometimes forget how little thought people put into it, even if they like watches. As an example, my co-worker who owns and wears a submariner nearly every day, asked me if my Sinn was a submariner. To me, that’s insane but he just sees a stainless steel watch with a black face and automatic movement.
Was talking with a family member about her Movado, and asked her if it was an automatic. She didn’t understand the question, so I explained the difference between quartz and mechanical movements. She replied, “oh no, only Rolexes are like that.”
I tend not to post in item specific thread s because I know you kats are on another level from me. Only thread I think I can handle is the #Sneakers thread because I have some nice kicks. This is one I don’t venture too far into because I know I don’t have the same tax bracket lol but here I am. I have a soft place in my heart for Bulovas because my old man (who I don’t have a great relationship with) loves them. My eldest son who I have great relationship with gifted me this for Father’s Day. Might not belong itt but I love it
As far as I can tell, it's a watch, and it belongs. Now, in the event you're showing me a severed, tattoo'd arm. It is not a watch, and it does not belong.
Daniel Ocean we're probably as cunty as our counterparts in the bourbon thread, but equally inviting. Wrist pics and questions are always welcome. There are great watches and whiskeys available at all price points.
it’s actually a couple years old. My son gifted it to me for Father’s Day a couple years ago but I had a couple pitchers yesterday and got all in my feels (seeing my baby with his baby got me there). I was wearing it so decided to post a picture.
My Grandfather passed away earlier this year and we had a remembrance dinner for him this weekend. My dad passed his watch on to me. Nothing too fancy but I like it and obviously it carries sentimental value.
I was looking at different styles of bund watch bands and saw this: Yours is the first I’ve seen in the wild.
And now that I know this thread exists. Any of you guys know anything about pocket watches? This was my great grandfathers. It works!
I’m familiar with Elgin watches, as it was founded close by where I live and the hub of American watch making back in the day. Good company and foundational for suburban Chicago in a major secondary city. The clocktower and city was based in manufacturing and watchmaking for a while. The current company name is held by a Chinese holding company. Once in a while I get a thought to try to by the rights and resurrect the brand.
Nice background. Are they worth anything? Kinda surprised pocket watches haven’t made the retro comeback vinyl records has.
Question for you all. a friend of mine is a watch nut and wanted a Pepsi Rolex like everyone else. He made a deal w me that if I found him one at retail price then he’d get me a watch for $1k or less. on a whim I asked one of my clients who I know is a watch nut and also has a huge ego. Long story short the watch is now arriving 8 months later. what out there do you guys recommend? I’m not a huge watch guy, I’ve got a couple from a Baltimore micro brand and an orient automatic that as $165 but might be my favorite watch. thanks!
Teddy does great macro shots and very inclusive with his brand offerings. Fun and relaxing videos, definitely worth the watch.
I was watching him try on the Tudor Black Bay Pro trying to get an idea of it’s girthiness. It was useless, everything looks massive in his wrist.
