Spoiler She was the one helping them smuggle shit in the beginning so the third one wasnt too far fetched.
What a turd. It felt like two movies ping-ponging back and forth, which isn't the same as Fallen Kingdom, which was the first half of a by-the-book, run-of-the-mill Jurrasic World movie, and the second half of a completely different, sci-fi channel original movie about dinosaurs. Someone took those two completely distinct movies, cut them in half and smashed the two ends together to make an abomination. Here, the editing is more traditional but the tones are still wildly different. The JW story is a post-apocalyptic action film. The JP story is a sci-fi thriller. Neither are handled well, neither compliment the other, and the convergence of the two threads in the third act should be a climactic moment but instead lands with a dud. Worst sin of the movie is how boring and meandering it is. There's a good half hour that could have been cut and it might have at least been tolerable to sit through. They took a movie about dinosaurs spreading out all over the world and made it small in scale and boring. I don't even know how Colin Treverrow screw up that badly but there it is.
I thought fallen kingdom was horrendous. I love the JP franchise but I have zero faith this is going to be worth watching after what we saw last time out.
It actually is. I was able to laugh at Fallen Kingdom's stupidity. This movie was too boring and dull to laugh at.
Spoiler Was he supposed to be a call back in some way to Dodgson from JP1? Different spelling (Dodson) but it seemed weird and lazy, like everything else about the character
Spoiler Probably but I didn't even make the connection on the names until you mentioned it because I was so distracted by how shitty the character was. The names are spelled the same on IMDB for both characters too fyi.
Spoiler OK I only got a glance at it when his name flashed on the screen and thought it was missing the G Makes more sense for them to be related but still weak
Spoiler It’s the same character as the first movie. They originally had the same actor from the first movie, but he was arrested for sexual assault of a minor…so they recasted.
Well I was excited to see it, even after the last one, but after reading the last page in this thread, I’m super bummed
Saw it last night, wasn't good, but wasn't as bad as many seem to think, imo Hit some good nostalgia for the series, goldblum was hilarious and the star of the show One thing that still has me puzzled Spoiler: Spoil When the bad guy doctor first met grant and Sattler, he asked Cole if he had any of his cookies or crackers or something like that. It was weird and didn't make any sense, and I literally spent the rest of the movie waiting for that to be explained. But I either missed it or they didn't explain it. Did I just miss it?
Anyone that went with kids how did they feel about it. Taking my 10/7 year old boys later today and that’s all I care about enjoying it.
8 year old loved it He loves dinosaurs and always has, he actually would have liked more dino fighting scenes and less people
Yeap just got out my boys liked it and thought it was the best one which is all I wanted out of it. Dinosaur chase scenes and fight scenes is basically all I look for from JP franchise and it gave us that.
Taking my 5 year old tomorrow. His first actual movie theater experience. I’m super stoked for it, more to take him to his first movie and spoil him with popcorn and candy. Will be watching through the eyes of a child, with low expectations. he is a huge Dino fan and has watched all the Jurassic park and Jurassic world movies hundreds of times.
The movie sucks but your son is going to love it. The memory watching it with you will last longer than the memory of the movie's quality. I can count on one hand the number of movies my dad took me to, but I'll never forget either experience.
Bought tickets with a fandango gift card earlier this week for tonight. I’m going to embrace the suck and just turn my brain off for 2+ hours.
I remember two ET and As Good as it Gets with Jack Nicholson As Good As it Gets was shortly after my mother died, my mom was a psychiatrist and I remember he wanted to go see it because he knew she would have loved it (she loved movies with funny crazy people she could diagnose and such, what about Bob was one of her favorites). I dont think we ever saw any other movies in the theater together as my dad was a very large man and was super uncomfortable in those seats
Spoiler No. I thought it'd tie back to the grain somehow that the bars were made of them and had some special properties or something keeping him alive. It didn't seem like a throwaway line at the time so I thought it'd have some meaning. Unless I'm an idiot I don't think the locusts eating non-biosys grain was ever fully explained either and what they were aiming to accomplish. Very meh movie. I liked the nostalgia of the characters and some of the scenes similar to past movies. Plot wise it just felt thrown together and there was not enough action with the dinosaurs. I didn't have anything going on today so it was a good time killer.
It was mostly shitty but I did have some fun and enjoyed some nostalgia. The whole laser-trained raptor thing was especially dumb.
I got a good chuckle when Grant was asked if he knew how much voltage was in the original Jurassic Park fences. His response was basically
Watching the original movie now, if they just let Timmy die in the jeep things would have gone much smoother for everyone
One thing that has been bothering me: I am pretty sure I saw three T-Rex during the closing scenes. Where did the other two come from? I know that the main one featured in this film was the same one from the original movie, and from Jurassic World. And they mentioned they had actually just captured her to bring her to the conservatory place. And made a big deal about putting her there because of the Giga (other alpha predator). So WTF was with the other 2? Was I seeing things?
There's a family of trex in the 2nd movie, lost world. If I remember correctly, they bring the baby into the trailer at the beginning, and the classic "stuck in a vehicle" JP gimmick takes place with the mom trying to get the baby back. I guess they brought one adult to the theme park and left the other on site B.
Yeah I forgot to mention the adult pair and baby on site B. I knew they existed but it didn't seem like they were part of this location, because they made a really big deal about TRex and Giga not being compatible, since they are alpha predators. And unless I heard wrong, Rexy (T Rex from JP1 and JW1) arrived right before the main characters did. I didn't think they were speaking from experience of seeing the other pair interacting with the Giga. IDK. Just bugs me.
