First half of the year I would’ve been happy to move mane, but he’s been great in the middle after coming back from afcon
We need another winger then.. unless that’s where the Fulham kid is best at. I’d sign Bowen to backup Salah.
Think we sign Mane and sell Mo. Bobby plays next year and either earns a short term deal or leaves on a Bosman.
If we are going to miss on Tchouameni, I wouldn't mind us going for Vitinha at Porto even though they are different types of midfielders. Vitinha has 3 player of the month awards in the Primeira Liga this year. And players from Portugal have a really good recent track record of stepping up to the EPL. He is 22 with a £33m buyout. He is more similar to Thiago, so Henderson would have to be used more as Fabinho back up rather than the starting 8 on the right side. Though, I see the appeal of getting a real big DM like Sangare as well.
I mentioned Vitinha specifically because Pep Lijnders used to work in Porto's youth academy when Vitinha was coming through there. And there was a specific article about Lijnders liking Vitinha, and that LFC scouts were still going to Porto games after we bought Diaz. Also LFC have a close relationship with Porto. I do know that Wolves is probably feeling pretty dumb for not exercising their £18m option to buy Vitinha when they had him on loan last year.
I think the opposite. I think if we had offered him something in the balllpark of his value he would have extended already. The Bayern links, saying he will announce his future after the UCL final as if something has been decided, but none of the tier 1 guys or anybody have anything… the pieces sort of add up to me. And Mo said he will be here next year today. That to me means a deal is done and he’s just not announcing it until after Saturday. Who knows.
Mane > Salah 2nd half of the season… but Diaz has shown he can play. I just like having all the depth at attack we have right now. That’s what kept us in the race for everything.. and I think losing just 1 piece of that is really big. Gotta sign a replacement.
I think the Eden Hazard transfer to Real and Covid has pretty well tanked the market for superstar players in that age range transferring with one year left on their deals. So I don't even have a clue what the number would be for LFC and Bayern deciding it made sense for both teams to agree to a Mane transfer.
Right. And Bayern seem too prudent to pay that but a bunch of their players want bigger contracts so who knows.
Sané was a little less than half a Grealish with 1 season on his contract. He isn’t the player Mané is and was clear that he wanted Bayern only so LFC certainly in a better bargaining position.
Sane was younger though. And the money matters less to Man City. But I can't see Mane being a disruptive influence in the dressing room in the same way Sane would've been.
Both true and possibly balance each other out. Though I suppose there may have been pressure from fans about having a German international want to come home and needing to get it done
This is basically all Liverpool fans and Jude Bellingham it you changed English international to "his favorite player as a kid is Steven Gerrard and he hangs out with Henderson on international duty."
It’s really hard to value salah and mane. Both are so streaky mixed with the fact they’re 30+. Mane looks reborn #9 and had a terrible first half of the season while salah hasn’t been scoring goals since afcon.
I've seen that basically Mane was underperforming his underlying numbers in the first half of the season, and then overperformed them in the second half. And the same for Salah since AFCON but reversed. And they hit their expected output in the end. Basically, they've maintained performance but found confidence or luck or whatever at different times.
Nerves finally starting to hit a little bit. I didn’t independently check but apparently Madrid has only lost 1 champions league final….Liverpool in Paris
It’s the most recent loss but they’ve lost 3 times. 5-3 Benfica in Amsterdam in 62. 3-1 Inter in Vienna in 64 1-0 to LFC in Paris in 81
