I think it was Daniel Storey saying on the Totally Football show today that England doesn’t have near enough refs in the lower leagues. Basically the pay is shit and it takes 8-9 years to move up the divisions to where it becomes an actual job and not a side hustle/hobby. Minorities don’t try and become refs, rightly thinking they’ll get even more abuse than is dished out to white guys. I actually think EPL refs are better than SEC basketball officials. Who seem to intentionally make bad calls for attention.
