He's been an okay hitter since May 7th: .288/.339/.420 in 271 plate appearances, not including tonight. Not great or even good for a 1B, but serviceable.

 

His option in 2024 has an $8 million buy out. He’s owed $ 72 million from us, no way he walks away.

 

What people forget is his 2024 and 25 option years become guaranteed for $30M per if he finishes top 10 in the MVP voting in 2023 and/or 24. So that's something to think about when we're projecting to drop all that $$ those years.

 

I wonder if voters for opposing teams will vote him top 5 just to fuck with the Tigers.

 

Overlooked aspect from these comments is the branding move by him to be called "Christopher" in all these stories now. Makes him sound more serious.

 

Tigers need to bring back Mario to call 500. Shepard doesn’t deserve it. The last two times he has said “the stage is set” when Cabrera stepped up to the plate. He’s two homers away you dip shit.

We're undefeated when scoring 1 or more runs more than the other team.

That's fine for Schoop. Now that he's locked in for 2 years, we need to stop fucking around with his position, though. Play him at 2B every day, move Candelario to 1B the rest of the year, and play Paredes at 3B whenever he's healthy enough to come back. Schoop at 2B is a 2-3 WAR player. Schoop at 1B is a waste of his time and skills.
