I’ve heard of the clause, I’ve just never heard that City had one.

 

I know Bayern and BVB use them to lower transfer fees

 

City can match any deal but Pep also came out and said they won’t. Doesn’t sound like that relationship ended well

I read that Pep told him he was making a mistake not staying at City but Sancho was concerned about getting senior minutes

 

DiMarzio is still really good with Italian transfers. He’s solid with the other leagues but not as accurate and I think that’s understandable.

 

The way I understand it, first refusal clauses can't really be used as a way to "block" transfers unless the player's current club tries to force their hand.

BVB can accept multiple bids from different clubs but still leave the decision to the player.

 

Grealish is on 100k a week right now. And I’m sure villa would/will give him a raise. Seems like there are only a handful of teams he could go to and make more money than he will make at villa

 

Bayern had set Thiago’s price at around 40mil. Liverpool approves 20mil. Now Falk saying Bayern will accept 30mil. Sounds like a classic Falk hedge bet but I guess we’ll see.

 

Once Romano gets involved I tend to believe it. I assume those guys are good though for man city/northern England news?

Lee says €25-30m with €10-15m add-ons but supposedly the add-ons aren’t easily achieved

 

Manchester United is the only team I could see buying him this summer. I still think it’s more likely he stays.

 

I heard he only had a year on his contract so Valencia didn’t have much leverage.

 

My only concern is he’s another guy who’s better on the right.

I think it's virtually guaranteed he stays at Villa now with that price tag. Just don't see Grealish trying to force his way out due to his relationship with the club.

He would next year if they don’t improve dramatically

and by force our ask behind the scenes and they would accommodate him

 

Also seems like being the man at villa versus just another mercenary at a big club might be preferable if the money is the same

 

On a related note, I feel that timing of transfers is often overlooked. Too many clubs do business close to the deadline, leaving little time for the signings to get comfortable with their new club and city.

 

It’s good the graphic designers spent the break coming up with new ideas to make these transfer kit switches even worse.

I’m assuming klopp turned his head. Liverpool need to get this one over the line or players in Germany are going to stop believing klopp when he tells them he is going to come get them after Werner did the same thing as Thiago only to have Liverpool not pay up. Thiago is a steal at the prices quoted though so I’d imagine the deal will happen. great move for Liverpool. You can’t get stale when you are at the top. Thiago brings something different for them.

 

Looks like PSG May be in for him now as well. Always tough to compete with them if they come over the top With a massive wage offer.

to be fair, the only reason is Warner isn’t a Liverpool player is bc of the loss of revenue from Covid. It’s not like Klopp lied to the kid.

 

I don’t think klopp purposely led him on. Just saying that I’m not sure klopps targets and FSGs target/willingness within the covid space are aligned right now. Credit to klopp for not only not getting complacent while on top but also trying to buy players who bring a different element to the team. Up to FSG to back him.

that is wild. They bought lukaku and plenty of other high fee/high pay players for his system. He’s an incredible tactical coach and equally hard for a club to deal with behind the scenes.
