So if I understand the situation correctly the new US attorney for the southern district of NY is Audrey Strauss until a permanent replacement passes through Congress. Is that correct? Barr can just fire her at any time though right? It seems like clayton would have to make it through the senate. Lindsey graham said he will give NY senators veto power which they will definitely use on Clayton and he might not make it through a full vote anyway. A few vulnerable republicans may not like how this was done, why it was done or that he’s never been a prosecutor. If Clayton is dead in the water at this point, it seems like barr will just fire Strauss in a few weeks and find a loyal replacement. What besides bad PR is stopping this from happening?
