But you could also be like a certain auto manufacturer and just lose money for 17 years and end up being worth billions

 

Bought a call in that crappy auto manufacturer when it dropped to 720 today and made a quick 900 bucks. Day trading is really easy you guys.

So oil is going to be up like 75% tomorrow?

 

The May contracts will expire and the June contracts will be the "listed price". so "the price of oil" will be up or down based on the june contracts, which are down ~10% today

 

right so the networks etc will be like omg oil up 70%!!

It's not going to change the long position of individual stocks too much, the way I'm reading the discussion.

You'll have to get into some calls OXY or UCO, or the like, to really GK on this.

In all fairness, even if the idea is to hold, OXY's not going to completely tank...oil it will get unfucked EVENTUALLY. So if you're buying it for the long hold, now's as good of a time as any.

You might not make the money you're hoping to tomorrow, but no one else in here is buying 7500 shares either, so their immediate losses are likely to be negligible.

Because it costs money and requires space to store oil, and anybody holding May contracts is about to be stuck with a bunch of fuckin oil.
