lol i forgot about him using the depression thread against people because they said mean things like uhh we don’t like the DH or other similarly dastardly things absolute pos human being
I can't imagine it's that hard to get data from the IRS to see household incomes. I just want the money to go to the people that really need it, now and down the road. I don't think that's some wild and crazy idea.
Hey look buddy if you're looking for someone to argue with you regarding your productivity I'm just not that guy.
Fine. In order to "pay for" distributions without means testing, I'm willing to have the Pentagon's budget audited for the first time in history. You budget hawks drive a hard bargain.
Jesus Christ, that last at bat for me was pretty brutal. Missed on everything. carry on guys, I will be in the dugout
I can't believe dbl has me arguing that rich people should get money from the government what the fuck is going on
Sometimes people just automatically want to argue with me, even when what I'm saying makes sense. Pretty weird to watch from my side. This is one of those times. Me - Ehhhh, we should probably use our resources a little better People that normally lean left - SHUT THE FUCK UP! GIVE ME MY MONEY!!! I HAVE 401k's TO WORRY ABOUT!!!
Was my thought, too. "Here, let's help you with a loan that's only slightly better than a home loan was six months ago."
you live in an alternate reality you fucking idiot lol Bo Pelinis congrats on becoming a "HYPER LEFT WINGER"
He was also the OG of Islamic Philosophy. Which was the West's intellectual superior for several centuries. But we like to gloss over that bit by just calling that period of time "The Dark Ages"
Hey guys, we have been isolated and locked in this thread for quite a few days now. Maybe we should all go back out to the main page and talk to some new people for a while about different things.
The effort it will take to validate past income vs current probably outweighs the savings. I think you're heart and mind is in the right place, it's just not feasible across 150 million households
i wouldnt say he's a hyper left wing guy like dbl is insinuating that everyone is disagreeing with him is which i am sure isnt pejorative at all he is a comrade tho tyfs bo
Where is anyone getting it that mortgages and credit cards don’t have to be paid? I get that no one is being foreclosed on right now but I’d rather not just miss payments and have the bank chomping at the bit for the pandemic label to go away so they can start foreclosures again.
also thinking lefties are worried about means testing and capital management from a neoliberal framework is uhhh wildly wrong
This all started based on the Dem house bill. Who knows how they'll handle it this time, but last time (housing bubble) they came up with loan mods that brought loans current and put the past due amount to the side in a non-interest breaking balloon. https://financialservices.house.gov/uploadedfiles/fsc_covid-19_legislative_package_-_03.18.20.pdf 2. Suspend All Consumer and Small Business Credit Payments (mortgages, car notes, student loans, credit cards, small business loans, personal loans, etc.) during the pandemic. This bold step would enable consumers and small businesses, including small farms, to weather the crisis by eliminating debt payments for the duration of the crisis at a time when many Americans will be confined to their homes and unable to work or bring in income. Borrowers who make payments during this period, should have their payments applied to their accounts as timely. Borrowers with payment suspensions should not accrue any interest or fees during the payment suspension period, and should be provided with affordable options to repay arrearages 8. Ban All Evictions, Foreclosures, and Repossessions--Including Manufactured Homes, RVs, and Cars Nationwide. Because businesses are closing and many people do not have access to unemployment insurance or paid sick leave, an eviction and foreclosure ban is needed to ensure that people can safely quarantine in their homes, if necessary. Vehicles should not be repossessed during the pandemic as Americans will need their transportation in order to obtain food or medical care. A foreclosure moratorium should include a ban on initiating judicial or non-judicial foreclosures, moving for order of sale, continuing any foreclosure process, or executing foreclosure sales and post-foreclosure evictions. Los Angeles County is among several jurisdictions that have already instituted a ban on evictions.
you’re literally making the same argument people make against public education and free health care. Means testing will hurt those in need more than those who don’t need it. Giving it to someone who will use it to buy new tires for their bike will help the economy as much as giving it to someone who will use it to buy food. You’re also using $6000 like that’s the number everyone will get. Some will get more some will get less. Moreover your arguing a proposal that will probably never pass.
non universal policies cause societal chafing and democratic tumult because the explicit lines it draws, it makes policies able to be chipped away at because those in power will mythologize around people who need food stamps or insert x policy. making everyone benefit and making them as close to cash are the two pathways to make a social welfare state that is resistant to the neoliberal deficit hawkery annihilation we've seen for decades now. same argument for M4A. give the billionaire his $1k a month UBI, but make the tax system rock solid and progressive (this isn't that lefty btw, this is a reformist framework)
We're to the point where COVID-19 killed more people in a single day (yesterday) than MERS did since its discovery in 2012.
Really seems fucking stupid that we are bickering over a few hundred dollars a person. I guess the remaining $400 will go to shareholders?
