criticizing sarah sanders for being fat isn’t constructive. Criticizing someone who’s gone under the knife to become more attractive while attacking people for undergoing surgery to become comfortable in their bodies is warranted
Also if the evidence, as it gets spelled out in hearings and Congressional investigations, tips public support in favor of removal in a significant way (like 75-25), I think Republicans would start to jump ship
like I don’t care that tappy was ugly before. I’m glad she was able to make changes and become happy in her own skin. But fuck her for not granting those same rights to trans people
Enforce your subpoenas and impeach him in the House. Force senate republicans to publicly go on record voting against it and make the impeachment, obstruction of justice and Russian communication with the campaign a major talking point of the 2020 campaign. We all know Trump lies as easily as he breathes, he’s bound to fuck up on camera during some campaign stop or debate if pressured hard enough.
Try again. He said when he entered the Senate at age 29. You and others waiving off the 60s and early 70s are simply naive. The divisions and societal and global issues were much more intense then, but of course the only history and the only struggles that matter are what millennials have experienced first hand.
They can continue to fight (and win) in the courts - only to continue being ignored. I am not sure that impeachment hearings will actually change the administration’s behavior at all. They have a DOJ operating specifically to protect the president right now - rather than uphold justice and the rule of law. We have a branch of the government in open revolt against constitutional governance and under the protection from the Republican Party in control of the senate. Expecting whatever path the House takes to change that is being overly optimistic. The only hope really is that impeachment proceeding can highlight that criminality and complicity to the American public. But that will require voluntary testimony from concerned Americans like Robert Mueller. And he seems hesitant to do that.
As long as Trump's base holds strong, I agree. But if the evidence and testimony became so overwhelming that 3/4 of Americans wanted Trump out, Republicans would be racing to distance themselves and be remembered by voters/historians as someone "on the right side of history". This is all implausible because I don't think Trump's base would ever drop below 35%. But I still think it's in the realm of possibility
There are a lot of women who deal with shit like that by internet detectives who are wrong. I’m not comfortable confirming surgical procedures based on Internet pictures and comments.
His base isn’t shrinking. It isn’t growing either but the same people that supported him will never change regardless of anything he says or does. As long as he keeps tweeting his taking points in all caps they’ll continue to echo them regardless of anything.
My god that shit is absurd Charge a chief executive with a crime, violate the constitution? Yea I think the founders might have shit the bed on that one
The GOP talking point on twitter is now “Our judicial system says if not proven guilty than you are innocent, therefore Trump is innocent.” Of course that’s completely not the point of what Mueller said his report indicated, but that will be the talking point about the Democrats trying to make innocent people guilty and bypassing the judicial system. Of course, that’s incredibly dumb and simple minded, but that’s the talking point. (looks like she didn’t get the memo)
Every democratic presidential candidate should be asked about that. Kamala was asked today and her weak response was that she would ask her AG to review that opinion to see if it was appropriate. Some candidate needs to come out with the stance that they want congress to pass a law simply stating that the president is not above the law and can be indicted for crimes committed during or before his presidency. I imagine the rest of the candidates would fall in line behind such a proposal.
If you feel any confidence that Trump could be impeached, I would slide impeachment in the back-pocket and see if his low approval ratings will be his downfall in 2020.
I know I'm not the first person to say this ITT, but, as far as I can tell, it's NOT "unconstitutional" to charge a sitting president with a federal crime. I'd subpoena Mueller to simply give that explanation.
Yes, and my comment would be based on if you feel you will have the votes. If the votes are there, wait to defeat him in 2020, I think the steam might be let out a little in this scenario.
Sorry just catching up. It’s 3:40AM here. Doesn’t this imply that there is more in the report that is damaging than what we have seen already?
I think it’s safe to assume Barr took the liberty of redacting damning details in excess of what he legally or ethically should have.
CNN did a split screen of Mueller and Barr’s statements and it was beautiful television. It was just a few points but they’d let Barr speak on a point then play Mueller saying the opposite.
