I’m going to warn everyone now, he’s likely very much an establishment guy (he lobbied for Merck and a bunch of banks with Podesta Group) but dear god anything is better than Lindsey Graham and this guy is sharp and can put together a highly functional campaign.
I don't know the specifics of his employment, but if DOJ can prevent him from testifying before Congress, I would think it would be even easier to prevent him from addressing the press
It seems likely to me that since the DOJ sent out this announcement, that whatever his statement is going to be was approved by Barr. My guess is that it’s likely a way for the DOJ to try and undercut the call for him to testify before the public in congress.
