Lyft most of the time. Or I will drive and leave my car there overnight. Enjoy a trip to that area of town that starts/ends with me getting a sandwich from curtis street deli
Fair enough, although I tend to be similar when it comes to craft beer. For the most part, give me classic styles executed really well with fresh, quality ingredients. My girlfriend really likes some berry beer there so maybe it's just me. It's a good neighborhood hangout though regardless. It's the closest brewery to my apartment so I go there quite a bit.
https://denver.eater.com/2018/12/28/18159155/denver-dining-trends-complaints-2018 Agreed on all below Laura Young, Founder, New Denizen Blog: I could probably say this every year, but I would say my one major beef with the Denver food scene is that it still has a ways to go in terms of the diversity of its cuisine. I would love to see more Asian, African, and South American food restaurants come on the scene, especially on the mid-to-high price-point restaurants. These days diners are actively seeking out unique dining experiences, I don’t see why this shouldn’t extend to the type of cuisine being served. It would make Denver an even more vibrant and interesting culinary scene that would be capable of attracting national and international attention. I do love food halls/markets, but it does feel like a new one is being announced every week, with even more coming for 2019. I’m afraid we are reaching a saturation point in terms of this restaurant format. Brittany Werges, Editor-in-Chief, 303 Magazine: Tiny water glasses! It seems to be a trend in general, and it’s fine if they leave you a carafe or bottle at the table, but it’s a pain in the ass when you have to have your tiny glass refilled every five seconds. It’s Denver and so dry here — we need our water. Linnea Covington, freelance writer, Westword: It grieves me that Denver still lacks a solid ethnic food scene. Sure there’s great places in Aurora or on Federal (Boulevard), but where is the variety? I want more Filipino food, Malaysian, and Dominican! I also would love to see concepts that offer good food for less money. I love Avanti, but it’s hard to go and spend $20 for a single meal not counting drinks and not getting full service.
the breweries in RiNo are frequented by a lot of people from out of town day drinking. I like my LoHi and Platte Street Breweries better, vibe wise.
Finally all moved into my place. Am not finding the cold that bad; just finished walking around Commons/Confluence Park. Whole Foods is weird. What are the TMB-approved eating places near Union Station?
Love that Whole Foods. I like the Chinese street food place. Zoe Zoe ma. Hopdoddy. ChoLon. Illegal Pete’s. Rhein Haus. Euclid hall Jac oyster happy hour
You could check out Next Door American Eatery in Union Station....because that’s the company I work for Mercantile is great for lunch Brider is another good spot if you walk across the river and I-25 Lots of new shit has gone in since I stopped working downtown. Crazy how much development there has been in just a few years.
felt like the altitude was more of an adjustment than the temps in the teens took a couple weeks to get back to those long dog walks
My first place in Denver was $900 for a 2br. Can only imagine what it costs now. Also blows my mind how popular RiNo has become. Used to have to drag people there.
obviously it isn't a problem unique to Denver, but it will lead to the gentrification of every major city, including Denver, if not abated. and cheaper rent would be nice
Isn't the housing market supposed to be cooling down a bit? Put in an offer for 5k over asking with a reduced realtor commission on my side and it wasn't even close. Went for 30k over asking LOL.
Anybody got any food or other recommendations for things to check out around the Molly Brown House or Nature and Science museum? My fiance and I will have a free day there this Friday.
Blue Pan Pizza, TAG Burger Bar, or 12 @ Madison are all right near each other and good options. Machete Tacos, Cerebral Brewing, Atomic Cowboy/Fat Sully’s, Tacos Tequila Whiskey some other solid casual options on Colfax. A couple blocks north of Colfax there is Olive & Finch, Dos Santos, Onefold, or White Pie
I would agree with these statements. Machete would not be my first choice of all the places I listed. Probably Blue Pan
Machete shrimp tacos are pretty solid. Big fan of White Pie from list above. It being walking distance helps
Do Red Rocks prices usually increase or decrease as the date gets closer? Wanting to buy Avett Bros tickets for July 5th or 6th.
I’ve signed up thru their site to get presale codes. In think it depends on A - who the band is and B - what night of the week the show is
Fuck red rocks for announcing shows so early this year. They started before Christmas. Never had done that before. Cool place to experience but the price gauging that happens after bots fuck things up and take so many of the tickets when they go on sale. Has me wondering whether I’ll actually do any shows this year. I thoroughly enjoy shows at smaller venues for $15-25 way more
Hit my one year anniversary of moving here this past weekend. Went to Machete to celebrate; the steak/avocado sauce tacos were legit. Lease is up in June and wife and I are planning to move. In Baker Tower now, but we can’t do 500 sq ft anymore and want to get a dog. Looking at Highland or more south near Yale into Glendale for places. Or I could move into @FearMySpear’s nice ass house near City Park.
If you enjoy shitty, nonstop traffic then yes move to the Glendale area. Avoid the Colorado Blvd corridor at all costs
Looking to buy or rent? Lohi and West Highland are great neighborhoods if you have a dog, but the cost of houses there are just nuts. My girlfriend and I gave up on trying to buy a house in either of those neighborhoods because what you get for your money is garbage.
I lived in Glendale for almost two years. It's not bad but I probably wouldn't live there unless I worked in Aurora
