Correct. Pay the money. $200 would be right for 25,000. I've gotten 12,5000, 15,000 for the most part. I fine Marriott is a great deal for low end or off location rooms and terrible for high demand/ luxury. I'm always using points for low end random stays on our way to vacations.
I just feel dumb paying real money v fake money when I have so much fake money and it can be devalued
Even if they devalue a little bit, you can still get better than 25,000 for $158 but I'm just a cunt. I probably would find a different hotel room than pay $158. But I'm also cheap and don't care where I sleep.
I know. I'm sure I'll eventually spend all the points. I'm burning through a ton right now so the magic will have to end at some point
Buying tickets on a CC and reselling them on SeatGeek/StubHub is a riskier way to manufacture spending, I’ve found.
If you know what you're doing you can make a lot of money too if you're so inclined. I used to flip tickets to pay for college many moons ago when I had negative money I have done some MS with tickets but 95% of the time I sell at face value. I have an event this week that I got tickets for my group of 15 and got venmoed. It was v nice
Citi has announced major changes to the Citi Prestige card. These changes will go live sometime in January, 2019. Changes are as follows: Card will earn 5x points on dining and air travel Card will earn 3x points on cruise lines $250 credit for air travel will become a $250 travel credit In May 2019 Citi will add cell phone insurance In September 2019 a number of benefits will be devalued: 4th night free benefit can be used twice per calendar year Annual fee will be increased to $495 from $450 (Citigold and Private Bank clients will continue to pay $350) When redeeming points for air travel you’ll no longer receive a 25% bonus (meaning points are only worth 1¢ instead of 1.25¢ when redeeming through Citi’s travel portal) Card will no longer earn 2x points on entertainment Other benefits will be remaining the same. Me reading this:
IYO does this put up with the CSR's of the world? it seems like CSR is getting encroached on as the consensus best dining/travel card
No, the bottom half kills the top half. 5% at 1.25x is great! But now i'ts only 1x. CSR is 3% at 1.5x $45 higher AF and $50 less travel credit 1x on non-flight travel (ubers, hotels, etc...) I wanted it for the fourth night free but they nuked that too It's worse than CSR for sure but hopefully puts some pressure on
My cat got one too, but it was one of the bullshit get 40k points after spending $3K in 3 months, then get 20k more points once you’ve spent $10K. Is that what y’all got?
Been out of the game for a while after buying a house. Should I keep this Amex SPG card? Seems like Marriott points aren’t worth it nearly as much. Any other Amex cards you guys recommend? Any help?
You can self refer yourself to the SPG Luxury card, get a huge bonus and referral bonus. and then cancel the original card. Wait a year and then downgrade the lux to the original
Go to your account and it will have referral links for the cards you have. Follow that link incognito and go to the bottom where it has other cards and apply to it
Need advice Had a credit card from a 0% financing thing that recently closed, so my % of credit used increased significantly on my only credit card. I think it's at like 75% or so now. Would it be smart to open up a second card and split the balance?
Can you pay it off? If not the only suggestion I'll make is to open a free balance transfer card and get rid of it
If you can't pay it off right now, I would open something like a Chase Slate and move there and pay it off ASAP.
nah, and I wont be able to pay it off in the 12 or so months a balance transfer gives me but at least that would buy me 12ish months no interest right?
Yep. The Slate has 0% interest for 15 months with no balance transfer fee. I would start there. After the 15 months is up, you can transfer to another 0% card.
I feel like that's the game I don't want to get into by opening up a bunch of cards. Or is that some old dumb logic?
I wouldn't start opening a bunch cards like many do here to get rewards, but in your case there isn't any downside to opening a new card every 12-15 months to avoid paying 20% interest on debt. It won't hurt your score really at all if you're concerned about that.
I dont care about points. After this shit is paid off I may start to think about that but I gotta get out of this. Thanks for this help
So my problem now, which I was afraid of, is that the limit they gave me on the Slate card is nowhere near what I need for a balance transfer
You basically have nothing to lose if you apply for another card right now, considering your position. Try the Amex Everyday Card: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card/amex-everyday/ Different issuer (Amex vs. Chase) but same general idea. 0% APR for 15 months, no balance transfer fees. There are a lot of cards that have 0% introductory APR, but balance transfer fees (3-5 percent) that might hurt. Still better than paying 20% Interest though. Let us know if you need any other help
You'll get them back in future points. They're not going to do anything and aren't going anywhere just sitting there. I kid.
Approved for Amex gold and chase ink unlimited within a few days of each other. If only one of these cards got here last week before I was in Vegas
I'm out of referrals so I used yours on a friend. I'll take you up on that trade next time you need one of my cards. Enjoy your $300
I have the CSR, Ink Business Preferred, Freedom, and Freedom Unlimited. Live in DC and am open to a new card.
