Open for recs on next card. Will use a referral. Stats and cards owned: 3/24 or 4/24 CSR Hyatt Marriott Premiere CIP CFU Delta Amex Plat Not particularly loyal to any specific hotel chain, but prefer Delta for flights. Going to China in 2 weeks and would like a new card by then, but it must have no foreign transaction fees.
Sounds like you need the SPG Luxury card. Read up here. Edit - I can’t give you a referral until I get home later.
Also, I couldn’t care less about IHG in America, but stay in a lot of their hotels in China. Is the IHG Premier worthwhile or are those points shit?
I’m hoarding Marriott rewards for my honeymoon so I’ll do both Edit - think I remember reading AmEx only allows one sign up bonus per 24mo, not sure if that counts personal AND business rewards.
Turned my CSP bonus (55K) into $830 in airfare last night through the UR portal. By the end of this year I'll have cashed in on over $3K in reward points savings for travel.
I last got the World of Hyatt card in July but now I want something new to work towards. Where do I go next with no bonuses to work towards given these cards currently? AMEX Blue Cash Preferred Chase Freedom World of Hyatt I've had CSR and last earned the bonus at the end of 2016 fwiw. We don't travel a lot right now because of having young kids but we do a couple domestic trips a year. I'll also be going to Vegas in March for NCAA tournament but that's about it currently.
unless you can get the 100k Amex offer I think the 80k chase ink is the most robust and flexible offer
Yes https://www.creditcards.com/cardmatch/?aid=1046404&tid=75d991094ee34d2b92821ffc02c4dada that's how you'll find out if you're targeted, but it's Amex Plat so it's a $550 AF card as opposed to $95 for chase ink preferred iirc.
I would definitely take advantage of the 80k bonus of the Chase Ink Business Preferred (https://www.referyourchasecard.com/21/7IEHPKPTIG). The cell phone protection makes it worth hanging on to IMO, but if you don't want to pay the annual fee you can downgrade it in a year to either the Ink Cash or Ink Unlimited, both great cards with no annual fee.
im pretty sure its illegal to post a referral for a card that someone has already posted their referral
What? Like this? Earn 80,000 bonus points with Chase Ink Business Preferred. I can be rewarded too if you apply here and are approved for the Card. Learn more. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/21/T3OGL0X6F4 (Not to worry. I’ve never gotten a referral and doubt I will start now)
Poor little ole me is still waiting for someone to trade me a Hyatt referral for my Ink business referral.
What kind of card are you looking for? More cash back or travel perks? I'm currently working on the SPG Lux which is also Amex but only the $495 fee with the $300 credit for money spent at SPG/Marriott hotels.
I think I'm about to cash out my chase points(~160K) and downgrade my Sapphire Reserve. I'm thinking I could just get the Uber Visa for 4x dining and travel rewards. My situation is I have 3 kids, so when I travel it's a 90% chance I'm going to stay in an airbnb. We have flown 4 times over the last 2 years and the points have been great for that, but I don't plan on flying anywhere next year and I'm obviously not going to use then on a hotel. Planning on flying to Seattle in 2020 but I imagine it would be better to just have the wife open up a CSR around that time instead of sitting on it for at least 18 months. It sucks that I don't feel like I'm getting the best return on points but I just can't find a reason to keep them. What I'm really saying is that I'd kill for a card that lets me accumulate points that I could use toward airbnb stays.
100% percent. My girlfriend and I actually prefer AirBnB's to hotels, but there just isn't a good way to use points towards them. The best way right now would probably use the Amex Schwab Platinum to cash out MR points at 1.25 value, but that requires some annual fees, so it might not make sense over the straight cash back over the Uber card. Maybe Citi should add something similar that with their new revamped premium card?
This is usually not a popular answer, but if you have no use for any points, why not just a cashback or cashback match card? Before I started churning bonuses, I used solely a discover cashback for everything for one full year and wound up with like $1,550 in cashback at year end. That’s a lot of AirBnBs
Thinking the answer is no, but nothing in SPG rules prevents me from the intro bonus on both the Lux and Business Cards, right? Edit: so I’ve read through their language and it says no welcome bonus on the SPG Biz if you’ve gotten a Marriott personal card bonus in the last 2 years. Does a 10K upgrade bonus on a Marriott card older than 2 years still count as a welcome bonus?
Valid Point, but I still think hitting Chase bonuses makes sense to get the UR points. If you hit the CIP, CIC, and CSP in one year, That's $1800 in Cash back right there with only 95 bucks in annual fees. That's not including any other cashback you could earn with those cards or other cards while not hitting a minimum spend. Obviously not as good of value, but I'd imagine people who couldn't use hotel points would take it.
If anyone is interested, the upgrade offer DOES count as a welcome bonus and does prevent eligibility for the signup bonus.
Don't cash out unless you need the money imo. Keep options available to transfer to southwest or hyatt at some point. Or to your wife's new card Unless the cash right now helps you obviously
Southwest is 1.5 always so that's reliable and high. Most other airlines are lower except first class redemptions
So I think I’m going to get the Hilton Ascend. New baby so not traveling a ton outside work for the next 12 mos, would be hard to recoup the fee difference. I’m also seeing that some people that own Ascend are getting full point upgrade offers to Aspire, which would be great to do next year. Assuming this isn’t a horrible mistake, anybody have a referral to the Ascend?
Tinyurl.com/ohhsaspire At the bottom you can pick ascend and I'll get the referral. Thanks It's not a bad deal if you don't want the big annual fees
What are the consequences of downgrading a card, as in maybe in 2 years I want the ascend because the aspire isn't worth it?
Nothing as far as I'm aware, as long as it's been over a year. The account should remain the same so no ding on your credit.
Is there a drawback to downgrading under a year? I was planning on downgrading my wife's CSP before the AF hit.
Always keep a card for at least a year. By downgrading before that you risk making the banks angry and your account will be flagged pretty fast. The good news for you is The CSP has the annual fee waived the first year.
Hey, friend. I'm looking for more travel perks I'd say. As I said with us having two toddlers right now, we're not doing a lot of traveling. However, my wife and I usually take two trips away without the kids a year. That's what I primarily like to use these cards for. I'm also going to Vegas in March for NCAA tournament weekend. Like I said I have the World of Hyatt card and should be getting 60,000 points any day now but all of that is being used on our trip to Boston this month. After that I don't have anything bonus wise to work towards. She's got 80,000 points from CSP we're keep adding to but I need a bonus to work towards too. So sounds like Chase Ink Preferred may be an option. Am I eligible though if I got my CSR bonus at the end of 2016?
Yes, you would be eligible. After you get the Ink Preferred, I'd recommend you refer your wife and have her get her own card. Between the two sign up bonuses and the referral you'll have another 180k UR points. It's the easiest way to rack up a bunch of UR in a hurry. I'm sure you know this, but if you're short on Hyatt points for your Boston trip, the UR points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to Hyatt.
Ok good to know on the CIP. She got the CSP back in like May and still has that. So she can still earn the bonus despite earning the bonus on the CSP this year? I knew you could transfer the UR points 1:1 at Hyatt but I really wanted to use the Hyatt points in case we need the UR points some other way ya know?
The CIP is considered a business card, so there is no bonus restriction regardless of the other Chase bonuses you may have received in the past (outside of not allowing you to open two CIP cards for two bonuses). The only bonus restriction Chase has with any of their cards is with the CSR and CSP...they only let you earn one bonus between those two cards.
As far as I am aware, this is correct. If you are wanting the CIP then there are plenty of people in here with referrals to offer (myself included).
need to make a $2500 purchase this week, so thinking it's a good time to get a new card with a good bonus. no loyalty to any hotels and usually fly southwest (already have a southwest card). but will be doing more traveling (potentially on non-southwest routes) the next couple years + want to start accumulating points (either travel or hotel) for a honeymoon in a couple years. currently have and use with some regularity costco citi card amex blue cash rewards chase freedom southwest (for southwest purchases only for the most part) what do you all think is my best bet? and of course, any referrals would be great
