told the wife our son is gonna ball his eyes out. Had a little kid next to me crying
Important point to remember Spoiler Strange saw exactly one future where they won and then acted accordingly. Next movie we see it play out
Spoiler For all the effort they put into selling the "snap of my finger" thing, the actual snap was pretty subtle. But that scene was fucking awesome... "you should have gone for the head". Pretty sure my jaw was wide open when Bucky was the first to die
Spoiler So notice who died vs who is left alive? Basically the old gang survived and the next generation (black panther, spiderman, strange) died. Gotta think they'll sacrifice themselves in the next one to bring them back
Spoiler so can we compile a list of the ones we think will stay dead? Loki, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Bucky, Hill, Fury, Drax, Mantis, Gomora, Strange... who else?
Spoiler Watching a reaction video now, had a similar take, basically the ones who ashed are the future, the ones who survived are the past
Biggest complaint: The Russos didn't continue their tradition of having a Community actor in a minor role
Spoiler I think only the ash deaths can be reversed, but I know nothing, so I don't see gamora or vision coming back
Spoiler was there more than one end-credit scene? I had to get Half Knight home to bed so I dipped after the one with Fury
Spoiler: Spoiler Don't think they kill off Thor. Between ragnarok and this shit he is by far the best character in the universe. The forging of his axe was amazing.
Spoiler im just gonna have to let that one settle . So many emotions, so many questions. I did laugh at Dinklage playing a gigantic dwarf
Spoiler I just have this wild and crazy hunch that the ending to the next Avengers will have something to do with Thanos' love for Gamora and Stark's love for Pepper/future baby (maybe also Hawkeye and Antman's families). Maybe not plot wise, directly, but at least thematically. Like, I want to go out there and say Thanos' love for Gamora drives him to undo what he did himself in order to bring her back, but that seems too pat. Something there though, I think.
Spoiler definitely something i was thinking of, but like someone said earlier strange saw every possible scenario and even told stark this is the end game. So something has to happen. Almost wonder if everyone that faded away went to an alternate reality like thanos did after the snap
Spoiler My thought on this was the one future involved Captain Marvel. Strange saw the only way to get her was for all of this to happen. Especially given the post credits scene.
Spoiler The founding members of The Avengers are still alive, which brings to mind Stark's line in the first Avengers movie: "If we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn sure we’ll Avenge it" Next May is your chance.
Spoiler Gamora’s death was beautiful and so well-executed. It had stakes and weight and backstory and plot-relevance all coalescing. The fact that Thanos had to kill her—after killing so many others without a second thought—specifically because he loved her and how that crushed him (but not enough to give up his quest) was beautiful cinema. The fact that Gamora was disgusted at knowing that Thanos loved her was even better. Marvelous storytelling right there.
Saw IW. Thoughts: Spoiler 1. The film’s opening sequence set the tone for the rest of the movie: anyone can die at any time, Thanos defeating Hulk showed his true power, and by the time the title sequence happened you knew what was at stake. 2. Thought some of the CGI was choppy. Some of Thanos and his minions were fake-looking. However those closeup shots of Thanos were well done since he was stationary. 3. Phenomenal job with the treatment of Thanos. One of the few superhero villains that actually had a purpose and you were on his journey as well, and understood why he did what he did. Some of the villains come in and say, “I want to destroy the world.” Before they can say something else meaningful, the protagonists have already triumphed and the film has concluded. 4. They had too many jokes. A problem with some of the latest Marvel films. Contrary to what I just said, Drax was funny, so was Quill. 5. It felt like a comic book. Which is what it should feel like. Bravo. Also how about those fucking screenwriters? Anyone know how difficult it is to put a conducive story together with the abundance of characters? Crazy. 6. Btw I don’t know why people are freaking out about characters being “dead.” Chadwick Boseman didn’t sign a three-picture deal. He’s only starred in one solo film. He’ll be back. Spider-Man will be back. The GOTG members will return as well. I liked how they threw us off with (I assume) many anticipating the deaths of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, but looks like we will wait for the next installment for their sacrifice to defeat Thanos. I’m totally guessing there. 7. You didn’t need Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) as the dwarf. I think the trio of Thor, Rabbit and Groot could have figured something out on their own. 8. When Thor landed on Earth in the midst of the Wakanda battle, and the Avengers theme blaring. My favorite moment of the film. Fucking awesome and one of the many reasons I paid to see the film. 9. Vision is dead dead. Dude done. 10. Finally — Elizabeth Olsen wins for best looking person in the film.
