Just got back from the game, that was emotionally exhausting. Turks was shit, Marchand was worse than that, Anderson did all he could but our young guys played out of their minds. Also thanks Toronto for thinking that because you have a good goalie you don’t need any defensemen.
Boston/Tampa has felt inevitable since the start of March. It should be a hell of a series with how nasty the game in Boston was a few weeks ago and how deep both teams are. This round has the potential to be great with that, Nsh/Wpg, and Pit/Was. Vegas/Sharks could be good too but I'm not as excited for it as I am the others.
Leafs need to think big and grab a true top D if they want to be able to beat Boston or tampa in a playoff series. Boston has great 2 way forwards and much better defenseman and tampa has Hedman and McDonough. At some point the leafs have to push the chips in and try and compete. Maybe a move got doughty this offseason? Won’t be cheap but that’s the kind of move they need.
I’d still wait another year. Let them get a year older and then make a move for a D. To get Doughty will be tough. Kings want to keep him and he wants to stay. But he’s the perfect fit for Toronto. Lottery selection is this Saturday at 8. Supposedly doing picks 4-15 pre game and then 1/2/3 during second intermission of SJ and Vegas. Fuck. Who can stay up that late?
