Elston has done a great job at ND, he deserves a raise I know some of you do not see it but his next move is probably head coach somewhere
Let’s not forget they were 4-8 last season. Better chance that they position him for HC in waiting in my opinion.
There have been two times now where opposing coaches have called out our defensive line shifts for apparently giving away our entire defense. In both cases, we got absolutely blown out (Miami and Bama). Since this has happened across defensive coordinator tenures, I have a strong personal vendetta against Elston. Yes I know a lot of that is a me problem. But it stills grinds my gears.
I had the same thought. Couple questions I have about the offer. Does it have anything to do with NPF. Because if so bummer. Also any Intel on him? Off recruiting topic but heard a rumor about Jeff Burris being looked at for S coach. If so that would be interesting
I don't dive in to analytics and such like some of you guys, for those who do, who should we be chasing for safeties? Dream guy, realistic, I don't care just looking for names to start researching when bored.
TIL that Burris is on staff already. He also coached with Charley Molnar at Umass (that name made me laugh). Seems like he might be the logical promotion.
I thought he left after last year to take an on the field position somewhere? He was an analyst prior
hearing whispers that Harry Hiestand from ND likely next #Bears OL coach - ran West Coast scheme for Ron Turner under Lovie Smith - good fit for Matt Nagy zone blocking
You have until August to convince me that Kelly is going to retire, otherwise I'm just going to go ahead and hope for 7-5.
The longer you coach In the NFL the higher the pension. It's all on years of service so that is something to think about. Also he just got done with maybe his best evee group. It doesn't really get better for him. Sucks dude was complete package. Great coach and great recruiter
Guessing this isn't about money. Starting to seem more like guys who knew they were going to be needing a new job soon and had the opportunity to leave on a high note.
that sucks but i am curious to see how the line will look, he is a great recruiter but his line often underperformed against good lines
This is where I'm at. Every year it was stated as fact that we had top talent and the best coach, yet we got very mixed results from the OL as a unit.
Sometimes I think that is just our expectations. When you have 8 or 9 in the box it doesn't matter how good your 5 OL are. Too many to block. For the most part they performed very well. Jeff Quinn seems most logical.
Even when ND did have a passer like Kizer, they still couldn't run vs good defenses. I think its Killy scheme, he stinks.
Someone mentioned the Memphis OL coach on Twitter to coach D. He said he didn't know much about him, but they have had a prolific offense last couple years, and he was AAC asst coach recruiter of the year. Also I'm sure has ties to Chip Long
Just checked the gamecast and you would be right. ND really struggled to score and is awful with free throws to boot.
Yup. 50 pts a game isn't going to beat anyone. This team need to find some offense. Hopefully Farrell is back for the next game.
