How does cleaner and pirate go together? I think the wardrobe has been awful and distracting this season and completely goes against the setting they're in. Why not give the pirate an eye patch like he has in the books?
I meant 'cleaner' as in more of a slang term. But I think we're just on opposite ends of thinking on this subject... I watched some things about what the costume designer was trying to approach with it and I just respect her decisions.
Game of Thrones Final Season Scripts Done; Premiere Date Not Decided Game of Thrones season 8 scripts have been completed, though HBO doesn’t yet know when the final season will premiere. HBO has seen unprecedented success with its fantasy drama series Game of Thrones, developed by David Benioff and D.B Weiss and based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series. The show has since passed the novels, with the acclaimed author saying that the next book in the series will release sometime next year. Then again, the show’s final season may also release sometime next year. Game of Thrones season 7 premiered almost two weeks ago, and its premiere episode, “Dragonstone,” propelled the show’s ratings upwards of 50 percent in comparison to the show’s season 6 premiere in 2016. People are undoubtedly excited to see how the game of thrones comes to its conclusion, with there being only a handful of people left vying for the Iron Throne. Furthermore, the people of Westeros will soon have to unite together to face the common enemy that is the White Walkers – and that’s something that we’ll see play out this season as well as next season. HBO has previously confirmed that Game of Thrones season 8 will contain only six episodes(compared to the show’s usual 10 episode count), with season 7 only featuring seven episodes. Despite featuring fewer episodes, that doesn’t mean the show will premiere earlier. In fact, the network has no idea on when season 8 will debut, according to HBO president of programming, Casey Bloys. Still, according to The Wrap, the network’s programming head revealed during HBO’s summer TCA presentation that all season 8 scripts have been completed. Last month, the show’s creators updated press, saying that they were “nearly” done with the season 8 scripts, but they didn’t want to imply that they had completed the story yet, seeing as finishing up a series like this comes with lots of pressure – and they didn’t want to drop the ball, so to speak. The showrunners have previously confirmed they are writing the show’s final four episodes, which makes up two-thirds of its final season. Although that number may disappoint fans who’ve waited years to see how everything comes to an end, HBO has indicated that many of those episodes, if not all, will be longer than usual. The series’ sound designer Paula Fairfield previously revealed next season’s episodes might feature runtimes around 80 minutes long, 20 minutes longer than usual, though the majority of seventh season will remain at standard length, with the season 7’s final two episodes running 71 and 82 minutes long, respectively. At this time, HBO and the series’ showrunners are figuring out how long it will take them to film season 8, and based on that determination, Game of Thrones‘ final season may either premiere in 2018 or 2019.
Que? I thought the whole plan was for the Dornish army and army from Highgarden to go with Yara to Kings Landing. If the Dornish army wasn't on the ships who was? just the Dornish leader and some renegade Ironborn??? Also on team Blind Luck of Euron finding them since they were heading to where he was leaving from. I also don't think losing the Dornish army (if that's who was on the ships that got fucked) was that huge of a blow solely because in the fighting we saw in Dorne they looked like a poor mans Dothraki. But can someone clarify I guess who was on the ships with Yara that are now dead and, if they weren't on the ships, where is the Dornish army and was Highgardens army also somewhere else on some other ships?
Beric is the token eyepatch guy. Called dibs on it a long time ago. Can't just have a bunch of people walking around wearing eye patches or it becomes to mainstream
I am not certain who was or was not on the ships. But, they were headed to Dorne, not King's Landing. They were going to drop Ellaria and maybe the sand snakes back in Dorne before attacking King's Landing. This would lend some credence to the thought that the dornish army was not there. They may have been picking them up when dropping off Ellaria
the conversation over the battle plan table made it sound like they already brought their armies, to me at least if they didn't already have their armies there then was the plan to sail to dorne, pick up their army, come back and drop them off at dragonstone, pick up lady olenna, take her to highgarden, pick up their army, bring them back to dragonstone, and then load everyone up and go together to kings landing??? again need clarification because that sounds like it would take a long fucking time and a little silly
When articulating the battle plan, Dany clearly says that they have to go to Dorne, pick up the army, and come back to besiege King's Landing. This was the first leg of the trip, so there were no Dornish soldiers, only the nobility.
I can't believe that the story would call AA the "prince" who was promised all the way up until the 11th hour, just to say "nah,it could also be princess" just before revealing it was Dany. That's some lazy lazy storytelling for a story that's bread and butter is its foreshadowing and ground-work laying. Suddenly saying "no it could be princess" seems like classic red herring stuff.
That's straight from the books, they probably did not want to state it too early because then it would be too obvious. But it is possible that the AA and the Prince who was promised are 2 separate prophesies.
Eh it's referencing a quote from the books. I wouldn't rule it out Dany but there's lot of evidence it's another
I'm pretty sure they were on their way to Dorne to get the army (then King's Landing) when they were attacked. Even though it is just a book/show, moving and provisioning armies is expensive and I doubt they would overlook that. They wouldn't bring the army to Dragonstone just to talk. Lady Olenna looks like she might try to stay with Dany as an advisor based on her comments about Tyrion imo
K so the Dorne and Highgarden armies are still in their respective countries Dorne may or may not still be in now we'll see... but their "ruler" got taken hostage to KL so you'd think that means the ruler in her absence is all get your ass up and find that fucking dog Olenna seemed skeptical of the plan altogether but as of right now they're still gonna attack KL right? I'm all for Olenna and Tyrion scenes they've consistently had the best one-liners in the last few seasons, with the Hound's creative ways of using "cunt" being a close 3rd
no no what I meant was the way the show (which is now beyond the books) suddenly dropped it on the audience. It's hard to believe they would do that just to hastily set up Dany as AA, when they've known from the beginning whether she was or wasn't. There's no need to do that unless it's just a misdirection/red herring. I guess what I'm saying is it's too easy for Dany to be like "oh so it can be a girl? I'm a girl, it's ME" and then for it actually to be her. It's much more like GOT for it to tease it and then yank the rug.
girl i watched it with last night thinks Arya is Jaqen h'ghar and that Arya died at the black and white house. argument was: - she's way too advanced for how long she was there - which the whole "how long was she actually there" and time passing has been discussed ITT enough - her demeanor is so different from even when she was in Bravos after training, ie - outward bluntness about killing the queen, the way she talked to hot pie, etc - Nymeria possibly "recognizing her looks" and not attacking but knowing it wasn't actually her inside so didn't join I didn't really buy it but it would be a fun twist. her reaction to the news of Jon in Winterfell kinda poked a huge hole in it for me
I agree, I think Dany is about to become the mad queen especially if she stops listening to Tyrion much the same way her father stopped listening to Tywin.
Exactly. we saw her make a decision on her own to change from going to KL to going to Winterfell. If she was the waif or Jaqen she wouldn't have done that.
Nah it's her. She's turning into the Hound (a person she despised) and the Hound is turning into Arya. That's the whole point
Spoiler The Mad Queen already sits on the Iron Throne 'BURN THEM ALL' Jamie: 'Fuck me not this again'
There Dornish army was definitely not in the fleet, other than whatever security Ellaria brought with her. Tyrion says clearly that they sail to Dorne, then "ferry" the Dornish army back to KL ...
I think this is a definite possibility. She sees herself the freer of slaves and benevolent and all that, but she wants people to worship her too. Like when she makes a point to say that she demands Jon to bend the knee before ever even meeting him. Maybe if she finds out Jon is the chosen one and not her she won't be able to accept it and tries to go scorched earth? I could see something like that happening.
What if Lady Olenna tipped off Euron on the whereabouts of Yara/Elarria in an effort to get Dany to put all her forces on KL. Olenna sole purpose to exist these days is to kill Cersei so it would make sense for her to want a full on attack, not just by the local armies. She already planted the seed in Danys head to stop listening to the "clever man".
On that thought, have we seen the last of Jaqen? He doesn't seem like the type of guy to just let shit go.....
I think Dany starts turning Mad King and laying waste to Westeros. I will enjoy it much more if she turns even more arrogant and becomes a bad guy.
I've been acknowledging that she's getting too big for her britches. I hope Jon doesn't bend the knee.
A few characters have mentioned that the Targaryen madness hits every other generation. I'm hoping that is the case with Dany.
Excellent , still wonder how difficult it would have been to have had Euron have one solid black eye though .
I'm not so sure. I think he has a level of admiration for her unlike normal faceless men applicants. Remember she basically saved his life on the road to the wall/Harrenhall in season 2. She also was able to kill the Waif, sneak in to his house, and catch him with his guard down. The subtle nod he gives when she tells him "A girls name is Arya Stark, and I'm going home" is sort of a vote of confidence from him for her IMO ...
Tyrion conveniently left that part out of his message to Jon. Probably because he doubted Jon would come if he knew that was part of the reason for the trip.
Maybe Dany goes all Stannis while Jon goes all Mance. He magically doesn't burn and deflects fire back on Dany. Their clothes burn off and then they bang it out in a super sweaty display for everyone to see. Then a Raven comes and tells them that they're Aunt / Nephew but since they're Targs, it doesn't really matter, they bang some more.
Dany going to be all on Jon, who y'all kidding. He's her type for sure. Plus all the females who watch the show probably want them to hook up and what not.
