My annual fee is due, the benefits of Amex are superseded by CSR & the Travel Credit is so much easier to utilize for CSR. That was it & he offered a 300$ credit.
Hopefully they hear enough of this and go back to the drawing board. Their recent "overhaul" is a joke compared to the CSR.
Nothing. Says it only applies to new applications. And it really only affects people who would be signing up for it then cancelling it before a year is up trying to get 2 $300 travel credits in a card year.
Yeah, think the Chase is about the best one right now. She got a $250 signup bonus one when they did a trip to California a few years ago, but it looks like the 150 is the best one going for what she wants right now.
Won't help in the short term, so she may not want it, but the discover cash back match is the better deal over the $100 intro bonus right?
Ah yeah, are they still matching the first year bonus? Guess it also depends on how much she spends at gas stations/Amazon/department stores or whatever the categories are.
Anyone with an Amex Delta gold get the offer to upgrade to platinum...or any Amex Delta platinum cardholders been happy enough with the value to endorse it?
What signup bonus are they offering? I wouldn't take anything less than 60,000 RDM / 10,000 MQM. With the companion certificate, you will almost always break even on the annual fee so if you are flying DL I don't see any reason not to own one of their cards.
I opened the Amex Delta Gold last year (card bonus covered my flight to Iceland) and have been rotating/churning w/ other cards so not much spend on this card recently. The mailer I received is for 25k miles after $2k spend in 3 months <<easiest to hit, essentially $250 off a Delta fare. includes some thresholds/bonuses I won't hit (like $25k annual spend) and more 1 domestic (lower 48) main cabin RT companion certificate, which does not cover up to $75 in fees/taxes>>>I have concerns about award availability Access to "American Express Preferred Seating" >>>thought this was priority access for seat selection on Delta flights, but turns out its for events, screenings, tastings, etc. Annual Fee goes from $95>$195 Unless someone here has negative experience, I will make the jump. If I sell the companion pass seat to a friend for $195 (very fair price), it will cover my annual membership making all other existing benefits free.
Don't take the upgrade offer, you're better off applying for the delta platinum and getting the better bonus
Offer (untargeted) I see online is 35k after $1k in 3 months with $100 Delta credit. Any current holders want to refer me with a better offer? Pm is fine.
I did this earlier this year and it's been fine so far. As some have stated, the companion pass pays for the fee each year any ways.
Last I checked, AMEX considered all 3 of the delta cards one family. If you've already had the gold version, it'll be tough to get the full sign up bonus on the platinum as you're not a new customer. The upgrade offer may be your best bet.
I went from the Delta Gold to Delta Platinum about a year ago. I basically did it for the companion ticket, but have not used it yet. No complaints other than Amex isn't widely accepted in Europe so your "no foreign transaction fees" are sorta useless.
I hope you didn't sign up yesterday, new offer for delta plat out today and is 70k for 4k/4 months and 10k mqm
So I have one credit card and the credit limit is $3000. I'm getting older and it's time for me to get a new one with a larger credit limit. What do you guys suggest?
Something with a sign up bonus if your credit allows. I'd look at Sapphire Preferred. And ask for an increase on your old one.
Could use some advice. I might need to start flying American Airlines for work. Haven't flown them in 3+ years. There is an AA Advantage card through MasterCard with a 60k bonus sign up. What I'm really worried about is getting status as fast as possible. Anyone own this card? Is there any other way to shoot up the status levels? I fly 3-5 round trip flights each month. Hitting the bonus isn't an issue just want to make sure I'm taking this most optimal route here to elite status or whatever the fuck they have. I've heard having some sort of status on AA is pretty important.
I have the AA mastercard but don't really use it for anything. I thought, unlike Delta, AA doesn't have any cards that speed up the status qualifying at all. You still have to get all your EQM and Dollars by flying.
Opposite for me. My limit on my Southwest card is almost 4 times my Discover limit. I use the SW card much more so that may be why.
I have the Barclays one from when they converted the US Air cards. I don't think I've charged anything on it in well over a year. Every year I call to cancel it and they waive the fee. Guess I'll just have a free checked bag on domestic flights once I lose my status as long as they keep doing that.
I've done the same thing and get the fee waived every year. I have gold status so no need for bags and I charge airfare to my amex to get 5x instead of the 2x AA gives. Only real benefit to it is getting the 10% points bag when you redeem award travel. Kind of a useless card with all the other better travel cards out there.
Debating AMEX Delta Platinum vs. Gold. Platinum is currently 70,000 miles and 10,000 MQM plus a $100 statement credit after buying a Delta flight for $195 as the annual fee isn't waived. Gold is 60,000 and a $50 statement credit with the annual fee waived. I have no Delta flights currently this year (and none currently planned) so I'm not going to hit the qualifying dollars so the MQM are basically worthless. Most other benefits are immaterial as they're either stuff covered with the Sapphire Reserve. I'm planning on this being a churn and burn card but the companion certificate on the Platinum intrigues me if I can extract $195 from it when I renew. I think I'm leaning Gold at this point.
if you look around, you can find referral links from various credit card forums for 75k on the platinum delta. If you're willing to eat the higher fee, you can also get 100K MR points if you sign up for the regular amex platinum
I guess I need to do some searching. On the AMEX site they're only doing 60k right now for platinum. I don't mind paying the fee if I can extract the value.
Southwest offering 60k signup bonus on all 3 cards. Cakewalk to earning a companion pass for the next 18 months
I had gold for years and recently upgraded when they did a promotion, 25K miles for gold to upgrade to platinum and prorated fee. You could do gold now and wait for that promotion to come around again.
So how does that work? You have to get about 40k more points this year and then you get the companion pass for next year?
You have to get 110k points. Sign up for both personal cards, or 1 personal + 1 business, hit the minimum $3k spend for each, and you have a companion pass plus 126k points to use (worth roughly ~$3,500 in free flights when utilized with the CP)
I'm fucking pissed about the Southwest bonus popping up just now. I signed up about a month ago and will only get the normal 40k. I would likely not be successful convincing them to let me do the $2,000 spend for the 60k bonus right?
They will match current offers for recent signups. Over a month may be pushing it, but definitely ask.
Need a second card for some new home furnishings and after some quick research the chase freedom card is a no brainer right? $150 bonus on first $500 spent and zero APR for first 15 months? Edit: also no annual fee and 1-5% cash back depending on spend volume
If anyone is wondering you can apply online for this and get approved in a total of about 10 minutes. Mine is on its way next week.
Depends on the company. I work for a big 4 and It's not one of my listed accounts I have under my experien account or the other two credit score giants. I'm late all the time brah. But my history says I've never missed a payment on any of my accounts. Doing it on a personal level I think helps
Depends on city and what day of week but that could get u set up with a Hilton property for a couple nights
If I had my brother apply for the southwest card and he transferred me all 60k points would that count towards companion pass
Could always apply for Amex Everyday / Everyday preferred and sit on the MR points. On a side note, just call amex and see what retention offer you get. I called in, got a 300$ statement credit for saying the word cancel. I took it as I think I come out ahead of paying 150$ with the Uber credit + airline credit + amex offers + SPG/Marriott gold
