Grew up here and love it. Except all the snowbirds and explosive growth. Land and building is getting too expensive.
Grew up in loxley. Lived in Daphne until two years ago and just built a house on a couple acres in loxley. About 9 miles from steel wood.
Originally from Florida. Also didn't have a sister to mate with so neither team would accept my fan application
Why would they want to move the PGA? So they can play it in Florida or Arizona where it is too warm in August? It would mean that Midwest and northeast courses (where it's been played a ton recently) would be eliminated from consideration.
my guess is that the PGA of America thinks if it isn't the last major, it may have more interest while avoiding the Olympic issue every 4th year. Seems dumb to me. How is the weather in NY/NJ in May? 3 of the first 5 after they move it will be there.
Theyre trying to be relevant. Its obviously played during a tough stretch - crammed in between The Open and the FedEx Playoffs - at a time when school is starting back and football is beginning. Might as well move to May and have the spotlight on you since it is the 1st Major after the Masters.
Agreed. It is my least favorite of the majors and also doesn't crack my top 4 as far as tournaments I look forward to watching. Probably 5 or 6 on my list.
Assuming it'll be downstate NY, it's decent this time of year. 60-80's with rain showers occasionally.
I know. I am also in favor of the move to May. I don't think it will be that big of deal for Northeast and Midwest courses to prepare. They may not be in tip top shape, but good enough.
101st PGA Championship Bethpage Black Bethpage State Park Farmingdale, NY August 2019 102nd PGA Championship TPC Harding Park San Francisco, Calif. 2020 103rd PGA Championship Kiawah Island Golf Resort Ocean Course Kiawah Island, S.C. August 2021 104th PGA Championship Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, N.J. 2022 105th PGA Championship Oak Hill Country Club East Course Pittsford, N.Y. 2023
Moving it earlier in the year allows for more newer courses in Arizona and Florida to have a crack at hosting. Most of the big time courses in the Norheast are generally seen as "US Open-type" tracks anyway (see Oak Hill, Baltusrol, Bethpage, Winged Foot, etc). So this move would likely decrease overlap in course selection between the two majors. I find that awesome, personally.
Bethpage is downstate so they should be in decent shape. Oak Hill in Pittsford will be a luck of the draw. That's a suburb of Rochester in western NY. Could be beautiful, or could be rain/snow even in May.
I thought the straits start season in April. Not sure about Hazeltine Edit: looks like Hazeltine started April 15. Obviously it was a pretty mild winter and impossible to predict what kind of early spring they are going to have from year to year
I'd honestly rather see them play in cold wind then put up the scores they did last time in the PGA at Whistling Straits.
The last time around was exciting with Day and Speith, but agreed I'd like to see that course show it's teeth.
So I'm going to buy 4 dozen new Srixon balls and it gives me the option to personalize them. Which one do you guys think? Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Or just stop being a tool?
I would like some customized balls that say "Connor Norman fucks" to match the tees EMAW FC gave me for secret santa
Question for the thread. I used to play golf in high school and have had the same clubs for the past 10+ years. When I lived in bigger cities I didn't have the room for my clubs and so didn't play nearly as much and didn't invest time/resources keeping up with the game. Recently moved back to the Midwest and in a smaller metropolitan area and going to start trying to play way more. Have hit on the range a few times and think I may have grown a bit or my clubs are just really shitty (probably a combo of both as they were bought off of the rack). I am guessing the first step is get fitted for clubs if I want to get serious again and take it from there with regards to type of irons to get?
Might wanna get some lessons first and get a groove back in your swing before you get fit since there's a decent chance you'd improve and would lead to a different fitting
This is what I recommend after my fitting experience. Just go tell a pro you're willing to put in some range time but that you want to get fitted and want to make sure you don't need significant swing changes. The guy I got lessons from told me to not even think about it until I got more on plane.
If you played in hs and have a decent swing I bet it won't take you long at all but a pro will tell you.
Good stuff, thanks guys. Yeah there is a pretty well thought of guy here in Indy who instructs/fits clubs so hoping to get in with him. On the range my half swings have been pretty consistent and solid but going 3/4 to a full swing results in mixed results to say the least. I am guessing my situation may be similar to yours.
Amanda's tits looking big again today. Wonder which tour pros have hit that. I mean Rickie has to be one, right?
Move The Players back to March like it was in the mid-2000s. Purse and field wouldn't change so just including it in the Florida swing shouldn't diminish it. They need to rearrange the March schedule anyways with the added WGC event in Mexico right in the middle of the Florida swing
