So I caved and bought iron covers. Only use them while transporting, but l still feel like I should store them next to a bag of dildos.
It seems like whenever I think I won't reach the group ahead of me I pipe one and hit the best shot of my life. "Sorry bout that fellas, really got a hold of that one."
Whats the protocol of knowingly attempting this with no regard if the shot actually comes close? Douche chills? My group of three was on the asses of a group ahead (we gave them more than enough time from the start -- they were off hole 1 by the time we teed off). We caught up at hole 2 when we were on the green and they were hitting their tee shots into a tree, no more than 10 feet off the tee box...90* to the right. After about four more holes I was Michigan Mad that they had not let us play through (more than enough times we were on the green while they teed off next to us). Par 5 comes along and they are on the green while we are hitting our 2nd shots. Rangefinder told me they were 290 away. So I said fuck it, no way I'll reach them, and hit my 3 wood. Well...ended up putting it about 5 feet from their carts. Miracle shot but douche move? Appropriate "warning shot" for guys with no pace of play etiquette?
I rarely get upset about slow play and definitely not enough to purposely fire warning shots. Id expect a verbal confrontation at a minimum. Call the pro shop and they usually send out a marshall if it's unreasonably slow. More than that, I've never understood people being in a hurry to get off a golf course like the place they're going next is going to better. Not that many other places I'd rather be even if I'm just sitting in my cart drinking a beer at 11:30.
Reasonable for most situations, and I agree if this was on a weekend 18 I, too, would hangout with a beer. But this was also later at night after work, so we were trying to make sure we got at least the 9 in. I'm normally calmer and just let it go, but something about these guys going exceptionally slow, and had multiple opportunities to wait and let us play through quickly.
I cant stand slow play. Ruins my rhythm and destroys my focus. I'm definitely preparing to hit my next shot the moment it hits the ground and I have an idea of what I will need to do next. When I get up there I'm ready to "get rid" of the shot I have loaded up. I think its a big reason i play so poorly with high hcp players.
well i was even after 8 holes yesterday with my slowest round of all time finally broke through at the turn (got in front of 5some that were the culprits) and shot 10 over on the back.
I'm a big proponent of "ready golf." I can't stand the guys who will go back and forth about who is further away or guys, that are hackers, I've been watching for several holes stwpping off yardage like it's really going to affect them much.

Throwing my hat into the ring again. Maybe god will bless me two years in a row. Although he pissed all over my monday practice round
He blessed me this year with those exact tickets as well!! It ended up that I started a new job on that exact day so I couldn't go and sold them for a profit of $1,600. I was super when I saw it essentially rained that day out.
Yeah I was selfishly happy when it rained out Weds as well. Got to walk the entire course and spent about 4-hours on the grounds before it got evacuated.
by the way, the usga has some pretty cool flyovers of each hole at erin hills: http://www.usopen.com/course.html if you go by hole by hole it lets you play the course like on a computer game
So my pops offered to buy me a run through a group golf lesson so I can start playing. He thinks I should do an intro group lesson before paying money for 1:1 lessons. This is the only regularly scheduled group lesson in my area. On the bright side it's only $99. What do you guys think of this schedule/set up for someone who has played one round of golf in his life. Day 1 Just like when you were in grade school, the first day is always the easiest - and the most important. During this first lesson, you’ll not only get a historical overview of the sport, but also introduced to the fundamentals, including everything from how to dress and act on the golf course to the purpose of each club and even get on the golf course to hit a few putts. Day 2 You’ve taken your first steps on the course and to becoming a golfer! During the second lesson, you’ll learn the art of chipping, pitching and hitting out of green-side bunkers, as you learn your way around the course, being out there for the second time. Day 3 During a round of golf, when you’ve reached the halfway mark, it’s called “the turn”. During Get Golf Ready, the turn means you’re halfway to becoming a golfer. On day three, you’ll be introduced to the fairway and how to use your irons, in addition to important lessons like stretching, making and repairing divots. Day 4 By this point, you should be familiar with the putting green, the fairway, bunkers and even the rough. Now it’s time to step into the tee box and take a swing. On the fourth day, you’ll learn everything you’ll need to know about teeing off, including which of your metal-woods to use and choosing between the different tee markers. Day 5 Over the course of the first four sessions, you’ve learned the what, when, where, why and how. Now it’s time to do. On the final day, you’ll finish up by learning how to play, keep score and some basic rules like water hazards, out of bounds and lost balls. And then when all is said and done, you’ll put it all to use by playing an entire hole.
I mean it could probably do without a lot of the stuff like how to dress and spend more time on the swing but it's a start
It won't be bad for you and will almost definitely help but I picture you going through this with a bunch of kids. It almost seems like that's who it is geared towards.
I think they should do this on Tour too until you get to the green. I walk every round and play through a twosome in a cart almost ever time. Thats embarrassing. Im also an advocate of removing the line on the ball that helps people line up their putt. That would save time too.
Id also like to ban courses that have yardages to the middle of the green. Who gives a shit? Measure to the front and give me a pin sheet.
Secession was awesome. Caddies/staff were all first class and hilarious. Southern charm and values all over that place. Different course all three days I played. Really cool
There's some interesting holes out there this weekend. It's also hilly as hell and I was not expecting that.
Reading about Secession, this is what I imagine the process is like for getting invited to play there.
I'm pretty sure this is the PGA program "Get Golf Ready". It won't be a bunch of kids it is specifically for adults.
I keep finding myself drawn to the Mizuno MP line but I definitely need forgiveness in an iron. I also really like the Srixon 565 and 765.
