Praise from Conte among other top managers is all well and good, but until he gets that stamp of approval from Gunners he will always be considered a mediocre player.
It is amazing how well rounded Danny Rose has become the past few seasons, really looking forward to him coming back for the home stretch.
With the way the fixtures set up we should honestly be in an even better spot by the time Harry returns than we are right now. The rest of the pack all play at least one match vs. each other during this stretch. City have it the worst. Their next three league outings are Liverpool home, Arsenal away, Chelsea away. They have to make up a Manchester Derby at some point before the season ends as well. We don't play a team inside the top 10 until April 30th. We might not score quite as many but we've been trouncing teams in the mid-bottom table lately. It may just be a case of settling for 1 and 2 goal margins instead of winning by 4. We've only lost 3 times all season, all road matches against teams in the top 6. We do a good job of getting results vs. the rest of the league, and are currently riding the longest home win streak in our history. We shall overcome.
Also, Harry Winks not getting a call up to the England squad is a major oversight on their part. Jake Livermore made it for crying out loud. Shout out to Jermain Defoe though, getting a much deserved call up for the first time in 3 years. Dele, Dier, and Walker are all included in the squad.
Sounding like PSG is gonna go hard after Poch in the summer. Poch has said they are "his team" despite playing only 3 seasons there... I just don't see the point of him leaving now. I have no doubts that Levy will do everything he possibly can to keep him around. What say you all
Talked to Poch last night, he isn't going anywhere. Harry is looking to make it back sooner than later, according to Poch's presser. “We need to assess day by day. He’s positive. He’s talking about after international break, three or four weeks. That’s good but we need to be careful with his injury. We have full trust in our doctors and physios.”
Son in for Kane, as anticipated. An early goal would be ideal. Southampton have played well, but haven't really done anything going forward aside from the one goal. They have been offside like 12 times.
This past week I was in England visiting my wife's family in Derby, England. Last Saturday, I told them that I was going to go to the Spurs - Millwall game on Sunday and was anyone interested. To make a long story short, none of them are Spurs fans and no one was interested in being in the middle of the Spurs - Millwall fan shenanigans. I spoke to some spurs season ticket holders who I have met through the years on Twitter and they indicated that it wouldnt be too hard to find tickets at or near face value, so at 9:00 on Sunday morning, I got in the car by myself and headed 125 miles south on the M1 to WHL. I got to the grounds and parked at about 11:45 and began my journey out to find tickets. Not five minutes out of the car, I ran into my first person selling tickets. I asked how much, and he responded "250 pounds" (FUCK) I told him no way, and he asked what I would pay, I told him 50 pounds, he told me to fuck off and go to a pub. Awesome, off to a great start, lol. For the next hour or so I just walked around the area by myself taking in everything including watching the Millwall fans come in. They came in without a ton of police presence, but as they got close to the stadium, a full police line was formed and it really got fun to watch. During this time I talked with quite a few people who were really nice and helpful. Most said that because of the high police presence, no one was out actively selling their tickets and the scalpers were running the prices up given it was the last FA cup game at WHL. All of the scalpers were pretty consistent at selling around 200 plus. As much as I wanted to see the game, I really didnt want to pay that even though when i called my wife to tell her I was just going to watch it at a pub she asked me if I was drunk, and that I didnt come all the way from the states to watch Spurs in a pub and pay whatever to go to the game. Despite that, I kept looking and my cheap ass basically decided that I wasnt going to pay more than 175, but if I found one at that, I would go. Shortly there after I found one at 150. As Im about to give the guy the money, I asked where the ticket was, and he told me in the Millwall section. Fuck that. About 15 min later about about 1:30, I met a younger guy my age with an extra ticket along the side that he would sell to me for 50 pounds. The guy who sold it was pissed about brokers and how much people were selling tickets for and that was the sentiment around the grounds among the more passionate fans. Most games people will sell at FV. Despite this, I was a little sceptical of the ticket and if it was legit considering how much less it was. However, I went to the gate and the ticket was legit, not only that, the seat was outstanding, about 25 yards from the half-way line. From the minute I got there, people around me were unreal to make sure this american who had never been to a game at WHL had a good time. The game and result was better than anything I expected, so much more than what you pick up on TV. There is almost more to see in the stands than there is on the field, but 6 goals made that debatable. After the game, shit talking from Spurs to Millwall fans was pretty outstanding, not much Millwall fans could say but they tried anyways. If the scoreline was a little closer, the fights after the game would have been a little more prevalent, imo. If you ever get the opportunity to go, make sure you do, it was a great time, and with the new stadium, i doubt ticket prices are ever as high as they will be the next 5 home games. I cant imagine how expensive the Manchester United game will be. Here is a link to a public dropbox file with a number of pictures and videos I took during the game (let me know if they dont work, there are about 10 or so videos and 10-15 pictures). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gf2tieib4rzne4i/AAA4YKaZLg4OQQ4MwbCCytSHa?dl=0 Tl;dr - Went to Spurs-Millwall, Ticket scalpers suck, got in though, awesome game and fans.
This was something that was so prevalent when I went. I didn't follow English soccer and didn't have a team when I went and the City fans were so welcoming, everyone around me wanted to talk to me and ask me my thoughts on the game and make sure I was having a good time. It was really cool.
Rumors of a Tottenham three match stretch in the US of A this summer. Tottenham v Man City in Nashville July 29. Please happen.
