Love it. Absolutely love it. The deep red, the title is simple but to the point. They didn't try and replicate Empire Strikes Back with Fall of the Resistance or anything like that. Solid.
Isn't this moot now anyway? Didn't JJ or Daisy or someone who would know come out and say Rey's parents aren't in VII? Therefor she ain't Luke's kid and she ain't Leia's kid?
I really like the theory Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine. Would definitely make for an interesting twist.
I spoilered it now, but that quote was kinda unmarked all over the place last year. It was a public interview he gave. I'd be surprised if I was the only one here who had seen it.
I hear ya. Anyone that thought they were going to spend an entire movie just searching for Luke, only to kill him off in VIII needs to go back to the drawing board with their theories.
Dude spoiler that shit! I didn't want that plot twist to be revealed until I read every post in this thread. Thanks, ass.
I'm just going to repeat that no spoilers allowed in here, and stay awake from sites like making Star Wars if you want to avoid spoilers.
I don't think they link a cartoon character to be that important in the main saga story that takes place ~35 yrs later.
There is no way they make Rey the child of an unheard of (to the majority of the SW audience) character. That merging of the show and a major movie would be awful. Small easter eggs are one thing, but a major plot point is something else. Edit: Wu'd
I'm a relative newb to the Star Wars scene, so somebody help me out. Was Plagueis first mentioned in the movies or in a novel?
I'm still convinced she's somehow a Kenobi. She's either a Skywalker or there's going to be a bit of retcon going on (Kenobi, Palpatine, etc.) But I'm almost certain Luke knows her.
I don't think so either but I think it is more likely then Rey being a skywalker. That would be such an obvious boring twist that it would make m night shaymalan proud
If she's a Palpatine I'm going to lose my mind, in a good way. There was some look of recognition in Luke's eyes. Not sure if that was from Rey, seeing the old lightsaber, or both?
Yes, but you're operating under the assumption that it has to be a twist. Why can't it be the obvious answer when it's best for the overall plot? I'm not saying it is in this case, but I think fans (and writers) try too hard for "gotcha" twists. Especially with lineage of main characters.
IMO they can do it if her parents are revealed in Ep9. Rebels will most likely be over by then. If they reveal in Ep 8, it ruins the rest of Rebels because you know Ezra's fate. Still - I dont think it's very likely at all.
Yes, exactly. Writers get carried away with the twists in films and sometimes they aren't necessary. Plus all the nerds would be furious if Rey was a Skywalker because of the lost hours in editing their YouTube videos with insignificant easter eggs.
With all the ridiculous theories out there about Rey's parents and who Snoke is, EP VIII is going to be a huge letdown for a lot of nerds.
It wouldn't surprise me if the identity of Rey's parents wasn't the twist but rather the nature of her abandonment on Jakku. And I'm not that hung up on Snoke's identity anymore. The emperor's identity was never a "thing" in the OT, but I'm sure we'll get some sort of background info on Snoke, if not his real identity.
Fans who get mad when a story doesn't go in the direction they want it to go are the worst. Judge a story on how well it tells its story, not whether or not it told your story. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish my final draft of "Episode I: What Should Have Been."
If you want to nerd out big time - cool discussion on The Whills over the course of Star Wars. They said the convors - the owl like birds in Clone Wars and Rebels were in TFA when Rey was walking up the steps to meet Luke. Ive never seen that mentioned before. Did a quick search for an image and got nothing. Now im going to have to watch that scene w I get home tonight.
