I wonder if we could create a top 10 list of least likely transfers across all of soccer, and where this one would fit.
Hoping for the best with Jan, but expecting a minimum 8 week absence. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Hopefully Wimmer can get his run of games now, and pick up where he left off last season with Toby. Davies will get some action too if we remain 3 at the back.
The assist today makes 5 for Kyle Walker already this season. He and Danny are playing out of their minds, such a luxury to have.
We have the best defense once again in the league and have begun to score goals for fun this past month and a half. If you compare us to the other top teams we have a way more balanced side than most. From back to front it is hard to pick another team's options against ours. We have one of the best GK's in the league, one of the top CB's (Toby), the best set of fullbacks/wingbacks in the league, the strongest central midfield pairing (Dembele/Wanyama), and our front line features the reigning golden boot winner and the most exciting young talent in all of Europe. This squad is by far the most talented and mentally prepared that has ever been assembled here. I'm not sweating a trip to Man City next weekend one bit, haven't been able to say that many times. "
I love our whole fucking organization. From Levy to Poch to motherfucking Pau Lopez. This current iteration of Tottenham Hotspur is exactly what I want from a team I support. Hardworking, mentally and physically tough, charismatic, etc.
Man City will be looking to bounce back from that embarrassing defeat at Everton this weekend, but we should be able to keep our winning streak going if we play like we have been the past month. It is a must win if we are serious about pushing Chelsea the rest of the season.
Kane seems like he can't wait to leave for China or Arsenal. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2017/0...-fans-that-no-one-will-quit-family-for-china/ There is concern across Europe as a result of the big-spending Chinese Super League clubs, but Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says there is nothing to worry about for Spurs fans. From the likes of Oscar and Carlos Tevez becoming the latest high-profile names to move to China, to reports of a big-money move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa, the CSL is growing in appeal and quality. However, neither Pochettino nor Harry Kane are concerned that it will affect Tottenham, even though speculation has previously linked the England international and teammate Dele Alli with a lucrative move to the Far East, as per The Daily Mail. The Spurs boss is confident that his tight-knit group are in it for the long haul as they continue to chase Premier League glory for the second season running. “We are together, every player is happy and part of our Tottenham family, and we have a very good atmosphere around the club,” Pochettino said, as noted by The Guardian. Tottenham’s 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday made it six consecutive wins for Pochettino’s side, and Kane was keen to reiterate his manager’s point as it doesn’t sound as though the north London outfit will be losing any key players any time soon. “I’d be very surprised if any of our players went out there, especially within the next couple of seasons,” Kane told Sky Sports. “What we’ve got going on here is something very great and I think it would be silly for the players here not to be part of it.” Now evidently these comments could come back to haunt the pair as there is still every chance that the ridiculous money being offered in China could turn any player’s head as they do what’s best for their future. Nevertheless, they make valid points as the future certainly looks bright for Tottenham and they will want to move forward with their current group to make it a successful one.
Out of the top 6 we may have the easiest road left (on paper). The other teams all still have to play Chelsea again, while two of our four remaining fixtures against the current top 6 are at home (Arsenal, United). After we face City this weekend a trip to Anfield is our lone road fixture remaining against the top 6. I'm not sure if we are catching City at a good or bad time. We have faired well against them the past few seasons and form is clearly in our favor, but City are going to want to send a message this weekend after what happened vs. Everton.
Can we effectively run a back 3 without Jan? Do we trust Davies or Wimmer back there with Dier and Toby if so?
Thanks for Carroll, lets hope his career turns out a bit like Gylfis after the move from Spurs to Swansea.
I def have faith in Wimmer and Davies if need be to play that slot in a back 3. Wimmer played there against Watford I believe and I was really impressed with his performance. Davies plays in the same spot for Wales. With how well our midfielders are shielding the backline and the best set of wing backs/fullbacks in the league there is always someone to help cover any slight hiccups during a match.
Our defensive statistics actually improved a slight bit with him in the lineup IIRC. I am glad that it will quash any bs about Wimmer leaving during this window at least.
Word on the street is the lads are buzzing in training this week. BUZZING Walker complaining about how hard it is to play against Mousa Dembele in practice. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...er-as-a-role-model-to-tottenham-a3443086.html
Harry seems to be content playing for Poch, who he rightly views as one of the best managers in the world. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tottenham-striker-harry-kane-lauds-9639370 Harry Kane has lauded Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as the best manager in football. The Argentinian led Spurs to the brink of the title last season and snapped Chelsea's 13-match win streak to put them in a great position to challenge again this term. Kane, who has shot to within one goal of the leading scorers after his hat-trick last weekend against West Brom, insists Pochettino is an 'incredible person.' "For me he's the best or definitely one of the best in the world," Kane claimed on a Tottenham Facebook Live video. "Not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well - he's a great man-manager. "He gets his tactics spot on pretty much every game. He's an incredible person. "We all want to battle for him and he earns that respect from us. We give him respect, he gives us respect and I can't speak highly enough of him." Spurs next face Manchester City - vulnerable after a thrashing at the hands of Everton - in a crunch match in the title race.
It just connected in my head that it is referencing the top 6 teams, not the top 6 save rates. I was astonished that 57% was good for 6th best.
I like Wimmer too but a little worried about him on the edge in a back 3. I think I favor Davies right now. Wonder if they thought about moving Dier to the left and then Walker back to RCM and having Trippier play RWB. He put in some nice crosses against Villa.
Hard to imagine a scenario where Dele's not playing for Real in five years. I've begun to take him for granted but seeing all of his best plays condensed into a highlight video remind me just how good he can be.
Dier is right footed, Wimmer and Davies are both left footed. Makes more sense for them to be on the left side. I wouldn't want to shuffle around the back line drastically, put in a like for like for Jan and be done with it. Why mess with success?
No surgery for Jan, Poch expects 6 weeks out instead of the previously reported 8. http://www.skysports.com/watch/vide...am-hotspur/10734578/no-surgery-for-vertonghen
On the bright side, we don't really need Lamela if we keep playing this 3-4-2-1. He'd fit best in the spot that Eriksen is at, so as long as Eriksen continues to play at this level and stay healthy then we should be fine. But if we want to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 then Lamela becomes much more important.
New VR of what the stadium will look like when done, and responses from some of the players. I like the Tunnel Club idea, kind of like what the Cowboys did in the NFL where you see the players coming on and off the pitch. The largest single tiered stand in England looks pretty tits. http://metro.co.uk/2017/01/20/totte...rtual-reality-glimpse-of-new-stadium-6393327/
My expected/preferred lineup for the big match this afternoon, basically just slotting Wimmer in for Jan. We have looked lethal in this formation so I see no need to differ from it. -------------------Hugo Boss----------------------- --------Dier----------Toby---------Wimmer------- Walker----Wanyama----Moose-----Danny Boy ------------Eriksen---------------Alli-------------- -----------------Big Daddy Kane-----------------
Those of you that have been to WHL, what is the best way to get tickets and what should I expect to pay for Southampton tickets on March 18. I'm trying to find 2 for me and my son.
Hopefully the lads take note of Swansea's upset of Liverpool and understand any team can beat another on a given day, and we must not take this poor City side lightly.
