That's a really solid point in favor of some review bias between Marvel and DC... 79% for Iron Man 3 is one of the worst composites I've seen. That movie is atrocious. Suicide Side squad better be HORRIBLE if it's 50% points below IM3
Agree. It definitely wasn't perfect but I didn't think it was bad. I liked it a lot better than BvS, Margot Robbie was amazing as Harley Quinn.
It's got some pretty bad flaws: Spoiler tonal inconstancy, the INCREDIBLY racist dialogue of Killer Croc, oddly timed origin flashbacks, Leto's joker is retarded, some pretty serious plot holes But it was entertaining and had some hidden gems Spoiler Diablo was awesome, especially at the end. Viola Davis is a bad bad bitch So, no, it's nowhere near the top tier of the MCU, but it's enjoyable.
The storyline was awful but: Spoiler -Will Smith was good for Deadshot -Margot Robbie was an amazing Harley (that club scene at the beginning was hot as fuck) -Viola Davis was a perfect Waller -Leto's performance grew on me. He really complemented Harley's character well -I low key really enjoyed Ike Barenholtz's character -I couldn't have cared less about the other characters...just because they weren't given anything to say or do. -The soundtrack was so fucking annoying. -El Diablo sacrificing himself could be seen from a mile away once he talked about his past
Iron man 3 is up there with the hulk movies for me. They butchered the extremis arc and did nothing to set up Ultron.
The critics weren't judging Iron Man 3 within the MCU. They judged it as a stand alone move and that's why it received the score that it did. Movie is pure shit within the MC and ok as a stand alone movie.
really as far as IronMan goes, the last 2 were dogshit to begin with and 1 is a horrible rewatch imo the only good thing about those movies is RDJ as Tony Stark, everything else around him is dogshit
Saw it today. Not even going to try and compare it to Marvel but I enjoyed it. Smith and Robbie shined but I enjoyed just about all of it, except the main enemy. Granted I don't know much about the DC universe.
Looks like SS box office is going to front loaded just like BvS. Bad reviews never hurt the Thurs/Fri opening shows. @GiteshPandya: SAT drop for #SuicideSquad huge, even bigger than might be expected. May tumble by over 40% & end below $40M. Maybe $130M-ish wknd now.
Friends and I discussed this before this came out. One of them works for warner Bros. I said it would be a 60% drop off next weekend, they said that's too big... By the way, sausage party is funny as fuck and that's why. Can't wait for it to come out next weekend for everyone to see
It has the flaws of a rushed script, but anyone claiming this is a "disaster" is either trolling for clicks or holding a summer superhero movie to way too high of a standard. It's formulaic, violent fun. I give it a 6/10, with Margot's ass pushing it to a 6.5.
Just got out. It's a hot mess but it's fun. 1030p showing was 3/4 full. The pacing at the beginning is horrible. Diablo is a badass. Smith was better than expected. Leto's joker will grow on you.
2 biggest things that bugged me about the movie: 1) Spoiler Guy that blows up the bomb and kills himself was character who's name I didn't even know and therefore had no emotional attachment to. I thought Croc was going to sacrifice himself like El Diablo, which would've made for a better story 2) Spoiler The mid-credits scene. If I knew who the 3 good guy Meta Humans were after hacking Luthor's computer in BvS, why the hell did I need to get a file on the same people from Waller?
SIAP but I didn't realize that the "hahaha jokes on you batman" suit in BvS was Robin's. Apparently WB confirmed that it was Jason Todd and Joker killed him.
Sausage Party and Pete's Dragon are going to hurt SS a good bit next weekend. Both have gotten really good reviews.
I would assume the email attachment only revealed who they were. Wallers file gave more detailed information like where to find them, etc.
Just finished Shitty AMC Show Joke. Going to see SS at 10. Don't give a damn about the reviews I'm excited
I think it said accomplice. It was really fast. Just got out and I really liked it. It's a good, enjoyable movie. I mean, could it have been better? Yeah, but it's still a good movie.
Didn't really like it. It's really hard to introduce that much in one movie, so I get some of the issues. The squad itself was fine. I thought the Flag charcter was awful, there was no point to 75% of what they did, and they gave roughly 10 seconds in discussing the motivations of the "villain" without ever even discussing what the thing she/it was creating even was. There was potential for a good movie in there, but it just seemed like a bunch of stuff happening without any point at all.
Anothe issue: Spoiler So this demigod is taking hits from Apache helicopters, an A-10, and an AC-130 (the latter two I'm guessing based on downed aircraft), and gets killed by a freaking big ass claymore?
Also: Spoiler Correct me if I'm wrong, but the weapon is targeting secret military bases because it shows Waller under water (at least it looked that way to me) with something hooked into her brain telling this thing where all the good stuff is. And then, as soon as it gets blown up, Waller just waltzes into the room with her phone app that can blow the squad up like she had just been relaxing on a rocking chair for the last 12 hours. Did I miss something with that? Or is that really how that went down?
BVS did $81 mil Fri, $50 mil Sat, and $33 mil Sun and was off 81% the next Fri. Suicide Squad did $65 mil Fri, $38 mil Sat, and $31 mil Sunday. The reviews are going to crush this movie and a lot of the WB slate coming up. I've not seen it yet but never seen so many friends on facebook unite behind loving or hating anything quite like this.
So consensus here: Is it worth seeing in theater's, or should I wait until Amazon Prime? .....Or even HBO. .....Or even FX on a Saturday when it's pouring outside.
I personally liked it despite the reviews. It's got a lot of action and kept my attention the whole movie. If you are into action/comic movies you'll like it and it's worth seeing in theatres. If that's not exactly your thing then you could probably wait.
I think it needs to be seen by DC fans, but go in knowing that there's a lot of problems, and the editing really ruined the film it could have been... https://www.cultofwhatever.com/2016/08/suicide-squad-review-uh-oh/
Wasn't as bad I feared. Definitely better than BvS Also it without a doubt had some cutting/editing issues and of all the DCEU problems that's the #1 issue they need to address.
Ehhh how old is the kid? Most of the "violence" is inflicted upon non-humans and there's really no explicit sexual stuff and there's some crude language but nor much.
