Mini Boomette still refuses to drink from a bottle, which means Mrs. Boom can't drink from a bottle either.

Unless the mother is engorged and has to pump, there is no need to dump. The milk is no different than her blood, as her body metabolizes the alcohol and the BAC dissipates, the same thing happens in the milk.

Guys, you're missing the point here. The baby will only drink from the boob, and not the bottle.

Woops, no not 72 hrs of active labor. Just 72 hrs of me and her not sleeping.

When she sure enough went into labor, she pushed for about 6 hours straight though. She's kind of a girly girl and I wasn't real sure how she'd handle labor. She gave it hell the entire time though. Totally underestimated her.

    phew... my brain almost exploded.

wife is at 34 weeks and going strong. we're watching a lot of videos and hearing a lot of birthing stories in our birthing class. the amount of variation in labor times just blows my mind. we've heard stories from 30 minutes of active labor (super dangerous), to 49 hours of labor (my nightmare). The thought that 72 was even a possibility almost made me run away.

My felt so bad for my son at soccer last night. Because New Englanders don't do heat, only like half the kids showed. He was put on a team with 2 really fat kids in a 3v3 game and was then made the goalie.

Everything was a 2 on 0 fast break. To his credit he only gave up one goal and made about 10 saves.

I was a big fan of the Baby Bjorn too. If you go somewhere with a lot of people, it is far superior to just carry the baby on your body than trying to navigate with a stroller. My wife and I each had a carrier (hers was a different brand and she liked that too) so that we didn't have to change the sizing. It helped a lot with bonding too. I took him around Manhattan for a few days at 4 months and all of a sudden he was a daddy's boy and just wanted to cuddle in to my chest.

This was also excellent. Go big. You'll need the space. http://www.target.com/p/boon-lawn-drying-rack-large-green/-/A-13600340#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=Boon Lawn Drying Rack (Large)- Green

Good deal! If she's going to breastfeed, make sure she goes to a good class and gets real familiar with the nurse at her hospital. We had an absolutely incredible lactation nurse. Other than her OBGYN, that woman was the most important person we've dealt with once the baby got here. If it wasn't for her, our little one would be on formula now. 90% of our baby's crankiness is due to some sort of gas/digestive deal. Listen to and do everything they say, and don't be afraid to call them for advice.

we had a bunch of friends give us stuff. I think we have 3 baby Bjorns, a moby wrap, and a few other things like that. We're not buying a stroller for the time being. It might be a mistake, but we like to learn the hard way.
we have a doula and a midwife. We've met a couple of times with the Doula already, and she will come after the birth for lactation consulting (she's a certified consultant). We paid a good chunk of $ for her services, so I expect to use her all the time.

our midwife is fucking awesome. She's a ~50 year old british woman who has delivered over 3500 babies. pretty much everything she says i take as gospel.

We got a Bjorn, which I haven't used a ton with either kid, but it's been worth it just from taking trips and walking in the mountains and shopping areas with the baby. Especially with a separate one running around/in a stroller. Did not give one single fuck what I looked like to everyone else.

Wife called today and was 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced, apparently that is about as close as you can be to active labor without actually being in labor. I had a fun day planned for tomorrow with my friends but I probably should stay home seeing as how we have two girls (1,5) and if something happened that would be a difficult situation for her to get to the hospital alone and take the girls alongside. Her OB wants to see her back in a week. I hate being on edge waiting. Going to keep plugging away trying to get as many projects at home done asap. I know when we have two kids in diapers my free time will evaporate.

So we worked on my son's swing this week. Today in tee ball he hit all 3 balls into the outfield. One to left field, one between the short stop and second base, and then one into right field. It was easily his best game.

    Sleep training sucks.

Instead of feeding him twice a night for 5 minutes, he is waking up 10-12 times a night. I know we have to stay strong and let him cry it out but my own sleep needs makes me want to feed him so he sleeps for longer stretches.

So apparently my 2.5 year old has decided to become satan's incarnate the last couple of weeks. A switch flipped with her about 2 weeks ago and she has become mouthy and throws tantrums about every little thing. Couple this with my wife being about 10 weeks pregnant and feeling like crap all of the time, it makes it very stressful. I don't know how the hell people deal with twins at this age.

Today is also my anniversary and my wife "feels like ass" today, so no anniversary sex for this guy.:feelsbadman:

    From a Google search:

Doctors typically refer to "term" or "full term" as the period from 37 weeks to 41 weeks, but it may be time for a change, according to commentary in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology. Babies who are born between 37 weeks and 39 weeks have a higher risk of health problems and delays in reaching developmental milestones.

FWIW, My wife is 33 weeks and we had to get special approval to schedule c section at 38 weeks. Our doctor doesn't want her going into labor because of some health issues but also doesn't want the baby to come too early.

Lil one is 8 months. After 2 months in...my wife was able to recognize her bath room patterns. Ie after feeding she would pee in her diaper. We started to take her into the bathroom to pee into the sink. It freakin worked. By 3 months the little one was letting us know when she had to use the potty (whining/fidgeting). We put her potty on the counter in the bathroom.

So now 8 months in, we have not changed a single shitty diaper. I mean real shit...not the grainy yellow mustard stuff they do before they start moving on to foods.

    Highly recommend the method.

Spent the weekend with the family at a hotel in Orlando just hanging by the pool. The hotel also has a lazy river, which was insta-sleep for my 1 yr old. Spent a good 45 minutes one day just floating around the river in a tube with him passed out on my chest.

Also, my 2 yr old has started making up stories and songs about the most random things. My favorite is when she's reading a book and purposely misnaming things just to make me laugh.

So I say "good call" regularly enough that when my my wife correct by 3.5 year old yesterday on the color of a monster truck, he responded, "good call, momma, monster truck is orange."

Somehow he hasn't picked up my gratuitous use of 'fuck' yet, although he's picked up 'crap' from his mom and 'shit' from his grandmother.
