I'll let the phish heads respond to that, but I agree with you. For the most part I just need, at worst, the lyrics to stay out of the way. With phish, this doesn't seem possible.
I love Phish but I will not pretend to be well versed on them at all. I do love me some Island Tour and the funk
Widespread Panic & Umphrey's McGee Will Join Forces In Alpharetta http://www.liveandlisten.com/blogs/...umphreys-mcgee-will-join-forces-in-alpharetta
This was my first Phish show. http://phish.net/setlists/?d=1998-07-26 I am middle of the road with them. Like, family vacation near Portland, ME week of July 4th, I noticed they were playing Portland on the 6th, so I grabbed some tix. Looking forward to it, but I don't travel for them like I do UM. The boys are coming to Baltimore on 7.15.16 and I can not wait.
Joshuam2107 and any others that can appreciate 1.0 biscuits So all this talk got me listening to 10/04/2002 again. This show doesn't get nearly enough credit due to 10/5 being considered by many to be the top show of 1.0. First, the standalone Magellan in the first set is great. Creative jams and a huge peak The Little Lai>House Dog>Ladies>Little Lai is a segment that truly embodies 1.0 biscuits for me. It has it all. Funky video game sounding jam and a seamless translation back into the middle of House Dog. Dirty, fast-paced peak into the end of Ladies. Then, a beautiful, soaring segue back into Lai. Barber just slays it during the latter two. This set is a good example of why I love this band so much. Every segue blurs the line between when the last song ends and the next begins. The subsequent Svenghali is pretty damn good too (there are so many good versions of this song in both 1.0 and 2.0). Spoiler No one cares don't care
Great interview with Trey from RollingStone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...hether-hell-play-with-the-dead-again-20160526 lot to digest in there.
I listened to some phish today...not bad. There's definitely a good bit of their catalogue that I can get into.
That little song Trey and Mike are singing right before they take the stage at MSG in Bittersweet Motel is so good. After a little research, turns out it's "Love Me" by Elvis. They do a damn good job with the song, although they only played it spring/fall '97 and a couple times in 98. Mike's Elvis impression is hilarious. Wish they'd bring it back.
I'd be shocked if there wasn't one. You never see them neglect an entire region of the country without a few dates in the fall
Went and saw My Morning Jacket last night at Red Rocks. Going again tonight and need some help on songs to check out before I go because I am not that familiar with them.
Black Metal, Touch Me I'll Scream Pt. 2, Highly Suspicious, Victory Dance, Tropics, Lay Low, . I haven't looked at the setlists in a while but still think they are playing more of the Waterfall and Circuital albums right now.
This is what we got last night Tiffin Victory Dance, Heartbreakin’ Man, Outta My System, Anytime, Evil Urges, In Its Infancy (The Waterfall), Just One THing, Wonderful (The Way I Feel)*, Golden, State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.), Master Plan, Believe (Nobody Knows), Picture of You, Steam Engine**, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door**, Strangulation!, Smokin’ From Shootin’, Run Thru**, Tyrone, I’m Amazed, Circuital, Purple Rain** Enc: Highly Suspicious, Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 1, Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2, Cobra, Mahgeetah Johnny Quaid guested last night too so that seems to have been a big deal.
weather was perfect. Rain was minimal and temps weren't too hot. Thursday getting in was the most ridiculous line I've ever been in. Took us five hours to get in and set up. Managed to snag spots in the woods still. Thursday pre party was great, a lot of people went compared to last time I did the pre party. Moonshine stage had even more stuff set up than in years past and keeps getting better. Music wise, moe and umphreys killed it, of course. Moe went cover crazy this week, the shine on you crazy diamond they opened their night set with was incredible. Also covered fame by bowie. Caught lotus for the second time this weekend and they blew my doors off. George Clinton and the p funk was badass, first time I've seen him. He also joined big grizmatic on stage for a song. third summer camp, one of my favorites yet.
Here's your review right here... Shine on you crazy diamond (Pink Floyd cover) Opium Making Flippy Floppy (Talking heads cover) Featuring Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident on keys DUCKMOUTH TheFreak55 John McGuirk
The shine teases in Opium had me goosebump'd up. One of the most enjoyable sets of live music I've experienced, sober or otherwise.
Think moe has gotten better over the years. Prefer older Cheese and Phish, but moe seems to improving with age.
I remember saying exactly this about them ITT at some point, they're more comfortable than ever and the new stuff they write is always decent. They have staying power for sure.
A sign that tour is upon us. Some really nice choices this year: http://www.livephish.com/browse/music/0,1047/Phish-mp3-flac-download-Live-Bait-Vol-12 -Reba (1995-10-25 Civic Center Arena – St. Paul, MN) -Split Open And Melt (1997-08-10 Deer Creek Music Center – Noblesville, IN) -Piper Gotta Jibboo (2004-06-19 Saratoga Performing Arts Center – Saratoga Springs, NY) -Stash (1993-07-24 Great Woods Performing Arts Center – Mansfield, MA) -Ghost (2000-07-01 Meadows Music Theatre – Hartford, CT) -Mike’s Song Simple Mike’s Song Tela Weekapaug Groove (1994-11-04 Onondaga War Memorial Auditorium – Syracuse, NY) -Foam (1997-08-03 Gorge Amphitheatre – George, WA) -Bathtub Gin (2003-02-14 Great Western Forum – Inglewood, CA) -Tweezer (1999-09-18 Coors Amphitheatre – Chula Vista, CA) -Mercury (2015-09-05 Dick's Sporting Goods Park - Commerce City, CO)
Was thinking about a last minute trip to Memphis but decided against. I'm going to GNR in Nashville next month instead.
They killed Memphis. Arkansas on Friday was pretty meh but I dropped acid for the first time so it made up for it.
I just thought this was kinda funny: moe. will ring in 2017 with a two night stint in Missoula, MT at The Wilma on December 30 and 31. The band previously promised to play in a remote location and did so with this announcement as they will return to Montana for New Year’s Eve. Pre-sale tickets for each night will go on sale Wednesday, June 22 at 12 PM ET through moe.ticketing. General on-sale begins Friday, June 24 at 12 PM ET.
Me and my lady were just sitting on the lawn portion of the venue and some chick from Kansas came up and offered us acid about midway through the second set. We only had $15 cash so we split a dose not thinking that it would do much. By the encore we were tripping pretty good. My gf has done acid quite a few times and said it was easily the best she's ever had. After the show I drove us back to my aunt's house and we laid some patio furniture cushions out in her back yard and chilled back there looking at the stars and clouds and moon and stuff. We did see an awesome long streaking green shooting star which was awesome. The rest of my time was spent walking around the back yard looking at the moon from different angles in the yard, explaining to her how timezones and Zulu time work, etc.
Was at Memphis and it was a great show. Started with some classics and the second set was a good mix. Was hoping for some rain during the set break....and anticipated a Hatfield but oh well. Side note: Mud Island staff and logistics were no where near ready for the amount of people. Everything from running out of water to the escalators not working whilst leaving...think the Panic fanbase has outgrown a few classic venues.
I'm sure everybody had nothing but nice things to say to the staff and everybody remained calm and collected while leaving.
Love it. They want to ski and have fun so they are doing something like this. Lots of fans are bitching saying they are fucking their fans by doing this since many cant go. I find it funny because moe tours hard and is very accessible and always given away free shit. Very fan friendly band. Love the fact that some fans are talking about quitting seeing them and listening since they are not doing a North East NYE run this year where most of their fan base is. These are the fans that make shows miserable. Glad to see them go
Tell them to shut the fuck up and be glad they aren't biscuits fans. Holidaze > northeast run > Colorado run > one off fest appearance > NYE...call it a day.
