The game "exploding kittens" is now out for Android. It's the guy who does the oatmeal. Online card game. Really fun. I had 20 bucks from Google survey credit and nothing to spend it on.
I've used the same case when I had an iPhone, S6 and now S7. I don't beat the hell out of my phones but of course I've had a few drops here and I've never cracked a screen. I like the minimal appearance of the neo hybrid.
HTC is making the new Nexus phones, and it might be 5.0 and 5.5 given old code names. A 5 inch HTC might be really nice. Also more news on why to avoid buying moto: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/04/27/motorola-sued-for-5-million-over-poor-warranty-support/
I bought the s7 Edge last week. Pretty happy so far. I know some don't like Samsung but that's what I'm used to and I'm comfortable with it.
Decided to get another phone to separate work & personal. Started up with google fi & a nexus 5x. Got it a day later & it's up and running. Things I'm sort of confused by so far: -the android launcher thing - do I need one? -No notifications on the app icons is annoying -I'm not thrilled with the podcast app options -Still looking for a good sms app (I don't really want to do much besides enter text & send gifs) -using instapaper inside chrome (like one-touch to save links for reading later) seems like it takes a few more clicks On the other hand, I'm excited to be able to cast things easier. Overall it seems like a good phone, and I like that I can basically cancel anytime I want.
I use nova prime as my launcher. With that, you can use tesla unread for unread count badges for your icons. Pocketcasts is the goat podcast app. They just updated google music as well, which may be convenient if you use that for music. I use textra for sms.
I use google now launcher. In my experience, projectFi has forced me to use Hangouts even when I select messenger as my default app. Anyone got any other experiences on this? I assume its jut a bug.
I use AwSMS for texting. It hasn't forced me to use hangouts. Then again, I can't text via computer because of it.
stock google sms app (messenger I think) has been flawless for me for about 12 months now. Used to be a hangouts homer, but messenger is great.
Only if you hit certain limits. I don't think I come close. The main one is responding to texts from your computer per month is limiting to 100. You can receive infinite, and I use it more to read and once or twice a day respond.
My bad. What I meant is that I can't text from the computer using hangouts on the computer which is a Google Fi perk.
My note 4 is quickly falling apart. Any good phones worth getting now or is there something coming out that I should wait on?
Last year's Nexus line is still solid and you should probably find good deals by now. The HTC 10 looks really nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the price difference.
My Nexus 5 just died...while I was downloaded MMS messages.. seems to be down for the count too. ordered teh 5x last night to hold me over ($216 after shipping taxes, new via Project Fi store)and will probably buy the N6 2016 later this year.
I'm going to give it a 2 week trial. If it's as good as advertised, I'll probably do it. I haven't paid for an app since google rewards came out.
If you do the Fi deal, just be sure they send you a confirmation email if you cancel. When I cancelled, it didn't...so it wasn't a real cancellation. Anyhow, they found the record of it, but it was a pain for them and me. Just FYI.
There are so many weather apps that use weather.io. I don't really see a need for another a d especially one with a yearly sub. Maybe I'm wrong. Let me know how you like it.
Someone tell me how to turn the voice option off on google maps for a Turbo 2. All i see are normal, loud and softer options.
it should be an icon overlay on top of your navigation, maybe 2/3 of the way up the screen on the right hand side. I use android auto, and can tell it to mute via voice.
thanks for the heads up. I carry Fi service (thats what I'm using right now while my main sprint line is out of commision, pending a replacement) so i hope i don't get any issue with the promotion/prcing and its terms.
Switching from iPhone to team android this weekend. I would probably go nexus but in order for work to pay for my phone I have to get it at the Verizon store. S7 edge, HTC 10, or LG G5. What do you suggest and why? TIA
I can't speak on the htc or LG (I haven't used either), but I can tell you that every employee I've bought an edge has come back to me with a broken back panel (glass) I watched a coworker pull a s6 edge out of his pocket and drop it 2-3 feet on to carpet....boom shattered back. Other than that, pick the OS skin that you like the best
My Nexus 9 tablet has been fucking up lately. Started with a random screen freeze/crash and then it started happening more and more often. Three weeks later, I can't even boot into safe mode. Have Googled and found plenty of people with the same issues but no fixes. Even a factory reset didn't help. Well, turns out I'm just outside of my warranty with HTC. I can pay $120 to have it diagnosed and then pay whatever it costs to replace the faulty component(s). Really annoyed with this whole process. Loved this tablet up until this shit and now I feel like I'm damn near SOL on fixing it without spending a few hundred bucks. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The following seems to be the same issues I'm having. The initial crash I got. Fuck that noise is loud and alarming when unexpected. Could easily hear it throughout my small home. Skip to one minute in to see the crash I usually get now.
The opening of this keynote looks exactly like some shit I'd expect to see Hooli do on Silicon Valley
New messaging app called Allo seems pretty awesome. I missed the bit about their version of Alexa but seems like everyone is pretty into it so far on twitter.
Allo seems crazy. It looks like you can search for and book reservations with open table straight through the app. I heard rumors that you could chat with 3rd parties, like support desks, through it as well.
Marques Brownlee @MKBHD 3m3 minutes ago Someone is going to make a parody of that Allo Knock Knock feature with sexting. I guarantee it.
