Even worse that there hasn't been a good movie for a couple months, actually had some foolish optimism.
well they're still predicting a big opening weekend @CNNMoney 2m2 minutes ago .@BatmanvSuperman could rumble to a $300 million worldwide weekend http://cnnmon.ie/21HFpNT via @frankpallotta
except you still need background foundation stories for a team-up movie the magnitude of JL to work. It can't be just "Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman fights [insert monster here] oh and Flash/Aquaman is there too" it took Marvel 5 movies to set up to the culmination of Phase 1, then another 5 movies for Phase 2. doesn't matter how "iconic" the DC trinity is in Justice League, you still need to tell a story with a movie; and 2 hours and 30 mins of setup just isn't going to cut it when the Avengers took like 13 hours of prior story telling
Fwiw this is the source I trust the most when it comes to comic book/star wars movies, they weren't too thrilled with it, about a 7/10 ish.
Zac Snyder is a douchebag bro. He wants to adapt The Fountainhead. Anyway, today is the day and this will be me getting to my seat...
Seems like every review I've read has given the movie C/7 out of 10/lot of good and bad Also nice that everyone seems to think affleck did a great job.
Actually, some of the shitty reviews make me think I'm going to enjoy it. This this simile/metaphor-ridden piece of junk from hitfix: Spoiler Hitfix: "It is an informercial. It is slick, and it is frequently very pretty, and from scene to scene, from moment to moment, it looks like a real movie. But without a beating heart, this is a wax figure, lifeless and frozen, a simulation. The studio asked Snyder to make them a 150-minute trailer for their entire slate of superhero films, and he certainly did. Sadly, like most infomercials, this one promises more than it delivers, and two-and-a-half hours of being hustled left me cold. Whatever it’s selling, I’m not buying." lol, the reviewer's name is Drew McWeeny. MCWEENY!!!!
McWeeny's been around for a while but having read a lot of his stuff, he's better as a news/info guy than a critic/reviewer.
Wonder Woman exclusive: Meet the warrior women training Diana Prince Themyscira is a hidden island where Amazon women of Greek myth have thrived for centuries, living in harmony and free to self-govern away from the gaze of man. It’s also, of course, the birthplace of Wonder Woman, who after years of false starts, is finally a movie star. With a much heralded introduction in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is now a cornerstone in Warner Bros.’ DC Comics multiverse, with a crucial role in the first Justice League movie (out November 2017), and the center of her own long-awaited film, which will hit screens next June. Directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), Wonder Woman will be an origin story illustrating the transformation of a young Princess Diana into the greatest female warrior of all time. She will need some help getting there, though. Preparing her for a world of men are three regal women: Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (Gladiator’s Connie Nielsen), and her two military aunts – General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe (Force Majeure’s Lisa Loven Kongsli). This trio of immortals is responsible for both raising and training Diana — the only child on this estrogen heavy isle — but they don’t always agree. Hippolyta, a revolutionary leader, longs to shelter her beloved daughter from the outside world, but Antiope, the Amazon responsible for Diana’s training, wants to prepare her. “She is the only child they raised together,” says Jenkins, calling from outside London, where she is deep into the film’s production. “And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them.”
So is there any talk in the industry about when all of this DC stuff predictably winds up being a shitshow that somehow Nolan could be persuaded to bring his universe back in like 5-10 years? Bale supposedly turned down 50M to be in this clusterfuck.
Don't think you'll ever see Nolan back in any capacity that means anything. He's still an executive producer on BvS.
Looking forward to some TMB non-spoiler reviews. I'm going to go with RT is wrong on this one. (I hope)
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/4bq3y1/fake_or_purchased_imdb_accounts_are_rating_batman/ After a bit of looking into there seems to be something quite... odd... going on at the IMDB page for BvS. I honestly cannot believe no one else has posted anything about this so here's what I've put together. Firstly, here's the link to the IMDB page for BvS: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/ . As of now, it is sitting at 8.3 stars out of 10 average for user reviews. Now take a look at the spread of stars so far: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt Well that's a weird number of 10/10s. Maybe it's just early fanboyism? OK so what other recent superhero movie with a strong fan following was recently shown and has around the same average rating? Deadpool! So here's Deadpools star spread: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1431045/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt Seems instantly more balanced... The oscar nominated film "The Revenant" also seems to have a similar spread averaging around 8.2 stars: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663202/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt Now to put in all into perspective for you guys, the Rotten Tomatoes page at the time of posting this is sitting on 34% approval by critics, along with some quite sub-par user reviews as well. IMDB metascore is also sitting at 46/100. But see, what's the first number you really look at on an IMDB page? The nice fat yellow star rating right next to the movie title. Meanwhile the metascore is nicely tucked into the description box. Alrighty so lets take a look at the user review page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/reviews?ref_=tt_urv Wow that's some pretty far out claims from people. "A new Era of Comic Book Movies, Batman V Superman Surpases All Expectations" "The best superhero movie of all time" "A complete package" "Amazed, Favourite superhero film of this year." Bloody hell, the year hasn't even finished yet! Taking a look strictly at the 10/10 and 9/10 accounts, you can clearly see they are tons that are only a few days old with only the one movie review under their belts. I won't spam you with all the user account links, but here's an example of what I mean: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur65929724/ I mean look, maybe this film is just that amazing and everyone rushed home to make an IMDB account to tell everyone, I won't judge until I see the film tonight but I mean, I don't think I've ever known someone to do that... EDIT: So I've never actually come across this before. For all I know this is normal user review behavior. If I'm completely off the mark here and being a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic, please say so.
That seems like a lot of work to say something everyone knows. Imdb ratings are meaningless. Whether theyre purchased or just idiot people Idk, but I do feel bad for anyone that looks at Imdb for anything other than "who was in this movie and what else where they in?" (or other fact based inquiries). That said, thanks to that redditor for doing the detective work.
People asking to rate this compared to a MCU movie need to try to think differently. It's nothing like a MCU movie imo. It was hard to think of something close. I said Iron Man because it seemed like it had a darker tone toward the end with the Dude going all evil.
And this is not a spoiler but a hell of a lot more "dawn of justice" than BvS. Just prepare yourselves for that.
Did the tmb broz like watchmen? I loved it imo If I liked that maybe I'll like this ? I kinda hated MoS
