I've seen him like 6 times and he's always played outfit. That set list definitely wouldn't have been my favorite.
yeah i could have gone for about 4 songs off the new album and a bunch more older shit but probably not realistic
I saw him right after Something More than Free came out and it was really similar. Missed out on a lot of songs I would have liked to see from Southeastern and his older stuff, as well. He sticks with Cover Me Up, though, because it's amazing live.
Jason covering James There's beauty in his simplicity, I do agree he may have gone TOO simple in some spots on this album. He's a genius and couldve possibly been over thinking it when it comes to how complex a group of songs to create. Just spitballing here.
I could only see a piece of the song title in the preview and was really hoping that was gonna be Desperadoes under the Eaves but that works too
Was in Nashville visiting my sister with the girlfriend and picked up Southeastern, Something More Than Free and The Nashville Sound all on vinyl. Just something about vinyl that makes it even better.
was able to see him before he got big at DMB Caravan in Chicago in 2010. He was the first set of the entire fest.
Re: White Mans World discussion a few pages back http://www.rollingstone.com/country...berts-sales-say-about-sexism-at-radio-w492857
You're telling me that an industry that has referred to women as "pretty little things" for roughly a decade might be sexist? gtfo
Killed it in St. Augustine tonight. Codeine, last of my kind, cover me up, and whipping post stood out. My 3rd Isbell show, and my favorite so far.
The Trump presidency has convinced me that we are living in a post-Christian America. I could see how a lot of conservative right-wing Christian Americans would vote for someone like Mitt Romney, who seems like a stand-up guy. But Trump is obviously not a good Christian person. I think the fact that so many people voted for him means that there aren't that many good Christian people left in rural America. God is gone from those people.
It's crazy that he's embarrassed by "She kept me happy all the time / I know that ain't much of a line" because the next line makes it perfect, imo.
it definitely had to grow on me - and I love it live - but I think the consensus of the thread was that it was definitely the weak point on Southeastern
When it comes on, I kinda just stop whatever it is im doing. That and down in a hole are my least favorite songs of his.
I get why he included Super 8 - was kind of a "holy shit was I really doing this every night?" type cry for help song
In the event anyone is looking for something new to listen to that's somewhat in the DBT/Isbell vein: Their first LP is coming out later this month, and I think it will be a good one.
And it means that the amazing Walton Goggins (and Ray McKinnon) must always be referred to as Oscar winners
I've never been to Tampa but when the EDSBS guys were discussing the Hugh Freeze saga, they brought up Ybor City, and everything came together.
Not DBT/Isbell, but this Tyler Childers album (produced by Sturgill) that came out last Friday is the best record I've heard all year. http://www.npr.org/2017/07/27/538397125/first-listen-tyler-childers-purgatory
He's good. A friend in Denver went to his show on Saturday for like $10. There's a YouTube video out there somewhere of him singing goddamn lonely love, just to bring it back to somewhat topic related.
