Season 2 will be here sometime this fall. Figured we needed a thread to get discussion going once again.
I will watch again because parts of season one were good but was pretty disappointed overall. Fingers crossed the upcoming changes makes for good tv
that teaser just reminds me how much i loved the music from this show. thought it was an amazing score
so this is supposed to use most of the same cast right? that trailer looks like they start from square one with people disappearing. I guess it could be the 2nd time it happened? I'm confuse. nvm just read a synopsis and only main guy, norah and cunt wife are coming back. and apparently everyone wants to go to that city because nobody disappeared from there the first go round. but if the population was only 9K and a mere 2% of the entire world population disappeared... that could be pretty coincidental. statistics and probability and stuff. whatever. will watch
Well that is kinda weird/disappointing. I don't really remember how things ended but I didn't feel like there was great closure.
honestly I binge watched that entire show in 3 weeks to catch up in time for the finale and was probably stoned as hell the entire time so I cannot confirm or deny that. I do remember the finale being somewhat of a "people pleaser"
You positive about this? I didn't go any further than IMDB but they have multiple people down as 20 episodes.
Jesus. What a great way to deaden arguably the greatest TV Series of all time. You remind me of people who get black out drunk before the opening kickoff of a huge CFB game. Makes zero sense to me.
Interview w/Lindelof. Little bit on season 2 towards the end: http://www.vulture.com/2015/06/leftovers-damon-lindelof-on-lessons-learned-from-season-one.html
S2 starts October 4th. S2 synopsis: After last season’s elaborate Memorial Day initiative by the Guilty Remnant plunged Mapleton into chaos, season two of The Leftovers finds many searching for a fresh start. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has retired from his post as chief of police of Mapleton and is moving his new family to Texas. With him is Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), who’s discovered new purpose in caring for the baby she found on Kevin’s doorstep and welcomes leaving behind Mapleton and the incredible tragedy she suffered there. Equally eager to leave the town she grew up in and the friends she made there is Kevin’s daughter, Jill (Margaret Qualley). Upon their arrival in Jarden, Texas, the newly formed Garvey family meet their neighbors, the Murphys: John (Kevin Carroll) and Erika (Regina King) and their teenage twins, Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Michael (Jovan Adepo). Attracted to this special town and hoping for miracles for his whole family, Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston) has moved with his wife, Mary (Janel Moloney), who still suffers from consequences of the terrible car accident on October 14. Meanwhile, Kevin’s ex-wife, Laurie Garvey (Amy Brenneman), has left the Guilty Remnant and reunited with her son, Tom (Chris Zylka), who may have finally discovered a cause to help replace the pain in his heart. And while Meg (Liv Tyler) remains in the Guilty Remnant, it may not be the same cult she originally joined.
Not holding out hope they killed off all of the bad characters and stopped the bullshit from season one.
The smokers cult and everyone associated with it. Liv Tyler was horrible in my eyes, the writers made every single one of them unlikable.
filming at a friend's dads law office here in austin tomorrow /csb newest preview looks pretty not bad
Wasn't that the point though? That's one thing I thought the show did well was create an emotional reaction to all of the characters. I absolutely hated those fuckers and my wife cheered when they got burned out, but that's what made it good, not bad at least imo
Interview with Lindelof: http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-wa...s-really-depressed-writing-leftovers-season-1 Really long, but really good. Excited for Sunday.
Liv Tyler's story arc was ill conceived and executed. I think every main character on the show had a well written journey but her's was poorly done.
I don't know if that's just being true to the book or they did a poor job of explaining a better arc that was in the book. Did anyone here read it?
@vulture: #TheLeftovers’ new season is some of the most interesting TV in ages. @margeincharge reviews: http://vult.re/1MJzwdY http://twitter.com/vulture/status/649595642675859456/photo/1
That's good I guess. The incredibly bleak, depressing vibe from season 1 is what made it so great, and I was worried that season 2 would suffer because they're getting away from that vibe.
If you asked me to guess 1 million times how they would start the show, that is not something that would ever come up. I thought it was interesting tv. I like the mystery and the occult. I also thought the opening credits was creepy.
Actually, is Lindeloff using the Lost formula? The other part of the plane could be the people from this town. We also have the history and mythology with the cave people.
I loved it. Lindelof does such a good job with suspense, I couldn't even look when homeboy was sticking his hand down the disposal.
Good start to the season. Firefighter captain is sketchy as hell. I don't imagine he makes it out of this season alive.
