I found ATL --> CPH --> ATH --> CPH --> ATL For $972 after everything.... ATL --> CPH has a stop in Philly and Manchester though.
Ive been batting around the idea of Iceland, but there's only like 4 hours of sunlight/day during their winter.
That's where I looked at going last year. Flights are not cheap, but it is supposed to be an awesome party. It's on my radar, though. Will likely depend on if Bama is in the playoff again or not
just reading the reviews, it sounds like Luka is quite the character and just a nice dude all around.
Luka didn't hang much when I was there -- which was fine tbh... He hires 20-somethings to work the hostel, organize everything, and answer all of your questions. You get to know those guys/gals (there were 2 when I was there) better than Luka.
it's about average, I guess I just think it's high in my head with how close the VIs are relative to europe/asia/SA.
This. Also, email him beforehand and let him know when your ferry arrives and he'll come pick you up at the port for free. Also, just to put in the back of your mind---I was trying to take home a girl for the night, but with hostels it's so tricky with shared rooms, etc., so I just got a room at a nearby hotel for the night. I came back the next morning to wake up my friend, Luka looks at me confused, stumbling up still half-drunk at like 7 AM. I tell him what happened and he said that he would've given me a private room for the night, and to wake him up if I need a room again.
Look at other spots and ferries as well... St. Thomas might be a cheaper flight, and then the ferry isn't really expensive at all iirc http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/
My friend that lives there told me the cheapest way is to get a flight to San Juan, PR, then go from there.
Holy shit that's badass. Hahaha. Amazing. Completely the opposite experience of the utter bullshit and misery you experience in most other places -- like Cancun for instance.
Some chicks on my boat did that... They flew into San Juan and then took a prop plane to Tortola. I think they were charged for the plane vs per person, so there might be strength in numbers there. Either way I think it was like $120/girl or something like that.
I love hostels, but the absolute biggest downside is finding places to hook up. I've been in a dorm when people are boning, and it's awful for everyone involved (obviously). Was quickly kicked out of a hostel in Paris when I snuck in with a girl.
Haha... I've never had an issue. In places that would have been obnoxious to hook up I've usually stayed at their place (local) or bought a hotel room -- which was a slight nightmare in Sweden. We had 2 Swedish girls (who weren't from Stockholm) ready to come back with my buddy and I, but no one would let us in their hotel at 3AM to bang. We eventually ended up in the sketchiest hotel of all time in the industrial harbor district. When I left -- by myself -- at like 11AM the next morning, it was a complete nightmare to try and get back to the hostel. Times I've hooked up with folks in there, the hostel had tube beds, or under 6 people in the room -- and all guys. Guys don't give as many fucks.
Did we talk about Portland in here? Going end of June for the international beer festival. Happens to be the same weekend as Sounders at Timbers (For non MLS fans, by far two best fan bases and biggest rivalry in MLS). Looking to get an airbnb house with some people. What are a handful of neighborhoods to look in? Obviously proximity to bars/restaurants is most important.
So true. First night in Amsterdam I went back with a girl and we were hooking up on top bunk with someone below us and 2 people directly across from us on the other bunk. I tried being quiet and shit, but it was just impossible. Ended up just getting up and leaving after a while. Opted to go home early with a girl a night in Barcelona to avoid people being in the room since everyone was out. Only one dude was in the room and I really didn't give a fuck so we went at it. Had like 3 different girls who we had became cool with during the trip come in the room during and they just left for a while and let us do our thing. We were all laughing about it the next day, so they were pretty cool to share a room with. Speaking of that experience, the people who work at Saint Jordi Alberg in Barcelona are cool as shit. Me and that girl went and hooked up in the shower and they didn't care at all. Walked by the guy at the front desk and gave him a head nod and we just nodded back and smiled. Could also take the approach I did in Hvar and bring the girl back, do your thing while everyone is out, and then go back to the bar. That is clearly the best option, but also the hardest to pull off. I'm 4 weeks out from my trip now and I can't wait. I decided to book us mostly smaller rooms with like 4-6 beds to try to avoid some of the scenarios mentioned above. We'll see how that goes.
Summer is shaping up nicely: May 23-30 - Bama for my wedding June 1-12 - London then Dubrovnik, Montenegro, Hvar July 4 weekend - Denver September - Hamptons and Vermont May add a trip to Miami in early August
My only hook up in Hvar involved a girl that I was staying in her and her friends' room at Lukas so it was pretty easy to pull off. And yea Luka didn't hang out much but damn can that man cook.
I need to pick a trip for this summer. Doesn't look like I'm going back overseas for work. I have a friend coming to TN from June 16-23 and I will be back in south Florida for work at the end of July. That leaves from roughly June 1-15 and June 24- end of July to try and schedule something.
DC this weekend Jax beach next weekend Stay in charleston for a couple weekends ATL for braves Charleston for two more weekends Thailand for two weeks Trying to figure out where I'm headed over labor day
I booked a 3 bedroom private room at Luka's so my 2 buddies can just deal with it if I'm trying to bone.
Be sure to hit up Toki Underground on H st. NE. Most delicious ramen you will ever put in your mouth. it'll be a long wait but just head downstairs and drink a few beers in The Pug.
I may just say screw it and go back to Phuket for a week. Beautiful scenery, beaches, fishing, diving, hot Russian and Eastern European chicks and cheap. Hard to beat for a vacataion.
May 21-25: Seattle June 19-21: Vegas Aug 20-30: Peru I haven't missed a day of work since I went to London/Portugal in January. Getting pretty stir crazy.
Yeah we got them a while back. Just booked all our lodging, in country flights, and a kayak tour last Sunday
May 15th: New Orleans May 16th-21st: Cruise to Mexico May 24-31st: Iceland July 23rd-31st: Croatia August 1st-3rd:Paris
Gin Buckets I have a rough food itinerary for Seattle. I basically have 4-5 spots for breakfast/lunch/dinner I want to hit up. Critique me: Breakfast/Brunch: -Seatown: Searbar and Rotisserie -Tilikum Place Cafe (getting the Dutch Baby) -Nook -Le Pichet -5 Point Cafe Lunch/afternoon/dinner: -Paseo -The Walrus and Carpenter -Little Uncle (thai restaurant, looks incredible) -Taylor Shellfish Farms -Etta's -Calf and Kid---gourmet cheese spot -13 Coins (late night) How is Bainbridge Island? Looks to be primarily residential, would it be worth taking the ferry over?
This has been a good page a reading. Makes me want to get back abroad, but I have nothing planned other than trip in the lower 48. Gin Buckets & I's place in Gulf Shores next week is going to be a lot like a hostel experience. I'm the one mutual friend with the 38 coming and most are groups of 2-4 people so I'm pretty sure it's going to be a free for all on hook ups.
That's it, like right next door. It appears toki has Dumplings too I shall try and get some ramen at some point
Both. Night 1 crash in bangkok Night 2 and 3 chiang Mai (full moon party) Night 3 and 4 pai Night 5 and 6 bangkok Night 7 and 8 phuket Night 9, 10, 11 Ko phi phi Night 12 phuket
2 pieces of advice: -the islands are known for their full moon parties, not necessarily Chiang Mai. I'm sure it'll be fucking awesome, but the "famous" full moon party is on Koh Phangnan/Koh Samui on the east side. -I'd say fuck bangkok and spend more time in pai/Chiang Mai or the islands. It takes 4-5 hours to travel between Pai and Chiang Mai, so you basically lose an entire day traveling between day 4 and 5.
It'll be pretty big I'm chiang Mai. We won't be near the islands for the big one on samui My friend who lives in Myanmar is meeting us in Bangkok for the weekend, one of my most anticipated parts of the trip We're biking to pai so we'll leave that morning and be there early afternoon, have that whole day and the next whole day, then bike back in the morning. Should be plenty of time. Biking is just as big a part of it as anything else imo
This is too aggressive, right? The 7 nights in Athens are for Yacht Week, so not technically IN Athens thank God. Sum of all flights here is $1129. I've been to Istanbul and Copenhagen.
Bainbridge is cool with a chick, pretty uneventful otherwise.... Let me think about brunch, but there was a couple places in SLU I really liked. Paseo - Best sandwich I've ever had Walrus and Carpenter - Fav Seattle restaurant Taylor Shellfish - Awesome experience, best oysters 13 Coins - Famous late night, and located in SLU I don't know the others, but let me pass it on to some friends.
And Fancy look at page 10... You can see a longer write-up I had about it, it probably needs more perspective than just me.
