Twitter Google+ LinkedIn Email Comments More The Ikea Monkey has a name and it is not Billy or Johan, but fittingly, Darwin. Toronto’s Animal Services says Darwin, a rhesus macaque monkey, which was found in a shearling-like winter coat at a northern Toronto Ikea Sunday, is seven months old and his owners are originally from Montreal. Darwin, now a worldwide sartorial sensation, is a prohibited animal under Toronto’s bylaws and has been taken into Animal Services’ custody. The owners, who have not been identified, did not know Darwin was an illegal animal in Toronto and have been given a $240 fine. The owners signed over custody of Darwin to Animal Services, who will try to find him an “appropriate” home. Instagram/Lisa LinAn instagrammed picture of the IKEA monkeyAnimal Services described Darwin as “agitated” after his capture but in good health. Darwin was spotted in the Ikea parking lot in North York Sunday afternoon wearing a fitted coat. The scared monkey was cornered by Ikea employees before Animal Services were able to wrangle him. Darwin was evolved enough to escape the clutches of his owner’s vehicle, police said. “It apparently let itself out of its crate, opened the car door and went for a walk,” Toronto Police Sgt. Ed Dzingala said. “Smart monkey.” THE CANADIAN PRESS/HO, Bronwyn PageA small monkey wearing a winter coat and a diaper apparently looks for it's owners in an IKEA parking lot as customers take photos in Toronto on Sunday Dec. 9, 2012.
Having that guy walking around with you in that coat seems like a much better plan than taking a dosed up rabbit to a bar.
I guess no one told him he has to put the furniture together himself? He's in for a rude awakening when he gets home.
My friends dad tells this story about the monkey his roommate had in college. It liked to poop in it's hand and throw it at people and laugh hysterically They got tired of it and left it in a park one day Maybe it's related to Darwin idk man
I started to lose faith in memes, because the quality in that thread was suffering as of late. But not anymore. This monkey has been fantastic.
