in case anyone missed it, new TWOW chapter out http://www.georgerrmartin.com/excerpt-from-the-winds-of-winter/
That's not really saying much though. I'll read it when I get the book but just can't make myself deal with Sansa right now.
Also, there were articles during the TMB blackout about how GRRM wants to have TWOW out by the this time next year (start of season 6).
Some people screened the first 4 episodes. Namely the two king nerds from Westeros.org. They said we should prepare our buttholes bc the show changes are going in raw this season.
I keep telling myself I will deal with the changes, but if they fuck up the Janos Slynt scene I'm gonna rage so fucking hard.
I feel like I've gotten over this all happening as much as I can and now I'm weirdly excited about this season and beyond because fuck it, GRRM is at fault for being so slow, let's see what the TV guys can do now. Didn't think I'd feel this way, but here we are. Also, I for some reason missed the news that a certain character wouldn't be on the show at all this season. Spoiler Bran. I wonder what this means for the future of his storyline. Didn't want it out there in case someone had somehow missed it like I have.
Spoiler i think it means nothing for his storyline. At the end of the last season they were mostly "caught up" to the books versus all the shit they have to do with all the other story lines.
I'm so fucking excited/pissed off. I'll keep watching the show, mainly cause it's awesome and we'll never get all the books so I might as well see how it ends.
Agree 100% with this. "It’s actually rather exciting not knowing where the story might be heading, to watch the show almost as someone who’s never read the books has watched the last four seasons. Bring on the new stuff, I say, as long as it’s this good."
For as exceptional as the Red Wedding was, that's how bad they fucked up Tyrion and Tywin. I dont know how they can feel leaving that info out was beneficial unless they feel they need it later on for Jamie's storyline. I just want something in between when Jon's balls drop
They fucked up Tyrion and Jamie more than they did Tyrion and Tywin. And the Greedo-shooting-firstification of Shae was gay too. Fuck that finale, I'm still not over it.
Tyrion's entire mindset is that he's betrayed by the one person who truly loved him; now in the show its all I love Jaime no matter what ya, ya, ya.
i did a rewatch, and it seems like they were planning to not fuck up tyrion/tywin when they were making season 3. had a couple of references to tysha to remind viewers.
i told myself i wouldnt ever watch if they passed the books, but theres no way to avoid spoilers show's too big, theres things like this everywhere
meant the entire tyrion, tywin, jaime scene. I had hoped to gain more information on the event or see it acted out by the three strongest actors on the show, but it wasn't even referenced.
I'm more annoyed that I had to read all that shit and it's ultimately so unimportant that they are cutting it out. I'm sad we're not gonna get to see the Jamie/Blackfish scenes though.
Same. I'll do a re-read before book 6 in four years when that finally comes out, but I'm not super up to date on all the little things of book 4/5 anymore.
Ep 1 is just going to be getting people back into it and "hey, remember this and this and this?" stuff anyway. ep 2 is going to be where shit gets good(Arya, guessing the election, etc). e: lame, CBG19 isn't doing the GoT recaps anymore for a variety of reason(some legit some not). sucks because I thought she was great at them. I think she would have done well doing a reader's recap and telling showfags to piss off since she is very knowledgeable of the show and seems to love the lore. On that note, any good reader recaps on Youtube?
What where here reasons? I agree she's great. I looked for more reader focused recaps but couldn't find any that weren't by super dry uber nerds
http://www.comicbookgirl19.com/#!5-...ow-was-canceled/cvts/551b17ba0cf21e26bac3d11c It's just sucky since I think she does great work(clearly so do others given her numbers) and I think she bottled up some excuses to make a move she could have more clearly done by just saying "GoT doesn't define me, I've got more things to do" like she did in her last point. Point 4 is hipster artist bullshit and dumb but it ties into point 5 and she's just mad some people identify her more with GoT than other stuff she probably likes more.
That sucks. I really enjoy her reviews. I watch her movie reviews too. I don't care about all that comic book and cosplay stuff. She has a damn direwolf tat. She needs to do them. :( Bummer
watched the first 2. shit is super different than the books. i'm not saying its jumped the shark, but fonzie is eyeing a pair of skis real hard.
Spoiler I'm still thoroughly entertained & all the changes makes it that much easier for me to disassociate from the books, so i'm surprisingly pleased by it
i'm not sure why you spoilered that. it is easier to disassociate from the books because of all the changes, but those changes are resulting in some goofy plot holes opening up. spoilers with shit that actually happen to follow Spoiler Arya spends all that time outside the house of black and white with nothing happening. But once she gets inside, you see that people still come by to poison themselves. Where were the people when she was waiting? The biggest one to me though is fucking Brienne again. She wants to keep Sansa safe. She was at the purple wedding, she knows what happened and that Sansa would be a fugitive so she announces in front of a crowded ass inn that Sansa Stark is there and travelling with Littlefinger? How fucking stupid Also, I think its kind of funny that we're using spoilers in the book thread due to the leaks.
yeah that was just a brain fart by me, wholeheartedly agree with the rest of your post, also Spoiler Kevan putting Cersei in her place gave me a woody
