Don’t see it as any difference than when everyone took smoke breaks every hour 20 years ago. But of course, we all know there is no “good” nicotine so I’m still not condoning it.
Also completely shocked that Raiola is separating himself from Henrich Haarberg and Danny Kaelin. His right arm alone separates him from the other 2, what even is this?
He's clearly different, in his own class entirely , but sounds like Kaelin would be a big upgrade from anything we had last year in his own respect. I'm sorta thinking the plan is gonna be ride with Raiola, back him up with a better version of the 'vark in a modified run first QB role, and try to RS Kaelin. Can still use DK for 4 games if Raiola has to sit for a while with a minor injury I think Kaelin's gonna end up with a couple years as a starter once DR is gone. Or he'll transfer out. But I think he's a good QB.
I feel like getting another transfer qb where things are at right now isn't necessary [winces anticipatorily]
Im hesitant on Kaelin, Something about having all that talent at Bellevue West and then performing like he did is off-putting. It can't be that hard to dominate Nebraska HS football if you're talented and you also have talent around you.
Because nobody shits on local Nebraska kids. Also, easy to look good when you're going up against Haarberg and the past Nebraska QBs. He could be good and I haven't watched him in person, but his senior season was sad as fuck. I would expect our future QBs to dominate their local competition. If he wasn't a Nebraska kid I don't think he would even be here.
I don’t think it’s really about him separating himself, it’s more about him looking the part while doing it.
Also disagree with this. The dude was an elite 11 QB and placed in the top 11. He’s more than deserving of what he’s got.
I will agree to disagree. Elite 11 Camp vs. throwing for 2200 yards, 60% 17TDs and 6INTs against Nebraska talent w/ 2 D1 WRs to throw to
Both of those receivers were out for a majority of the season. He wasn’t great this season, but he is definitely a P4 QB.
I'd be really interested to see some data on what percentage of starting FBS QBs: -started all games all year -missed one or several games due to injury -had a season ending injury i have zero sense of what the norm is. Feel like it's the second one
Shocker of a take coming from me, but... Rhule wanted him. I know, Rhule wanted Simmmms too, but when your roster is as Kittle Giants as ours was last year, every early miss you make is gonna stick out like a sore weiner
Didn’t Kaelin also have someone in the backfield constantly because the line was injured/young last year?
Yeah there were tons of reasons they underperformed. Bones Davis had some of the best HS QB stats I'd ever seen. QB evals go way beyond production and W/Ls
The honkeytossers have some obvious flaws that can lose games in a hurry but they seem relatively resilient if nothing else
Shull quote: "“It’s weird, Coach Raiola is one of the only coaches that I know doesn’t teach to roll your hips or keep a wide base. It’s good, because once you do that you lose a lot of power and I agree with him. That’s mainly what I look for in the practice.” Not rolling hips smdh our hip angles are gonna make Thom hit 3500 grave rpms
Not hip rolling may sound good, but when the DL flashes instead of blends, your heel kip isn't gonna be able keep your nipples in an acute radius to the vertical. Bad!
Feels like danger zone for the rest of the league. If Fred can start getting these cocky upper Midwestern white kids with unlimited range and 6 years of eligibility, they are in trouble. We're adding 3 so far this offseason .
The classic Wisconsin and Crayton whites rarely work out well here. Usually end up underwhelming and transferring to a Dakota school
Who's the U Texas qb who totally flopped at a spring game and the fanbase collectively just knew he wasn't it? Was it the Manning boy? Seemed like a spring performance that actually did foretell a turd by being a turd out there. I don't know, maybe he can rebound, but that's the narrative I'm hoping for for that shit school. Hopefully, though, young old Raiola will get out there and sling and we can at least have boners for a while before they get chopped off by some loser team we shouldn't have lost to gbr
