Iowa's in a similar situation as Indiana considering DeVries was the pretty obvious choice to replace Fran and now he's likely off the market if they have to make a change next year. Still not sure why they didn't run at the chance to get rid of him this year when they didn't make the tourney.
Does Gatens (assuming that's who you're talking about) possibly get the Drake job? He was an assistant for DeVries for 4 years, but he seems too inexperienced even for that.
Meh JMU has a ton of resources. 11 years as a HC and twice he's had a top 100 offense and three times defensively Bunch of schools who made changes after VU are landing the top guys. I love the VU AD as a person but we probably need to fire her after she has saddled us with Clark Lea and this search has been such a whiff
Eh... I'm not saying he's a great coach, but the team that won the natty wasn't filled with those types Their best athlete was probably Davion Mitchell and he was 6'1 or so Good guards and experience is usually what wins and he didn't have a lot of that this season
That season was quite clearly a unicorn for him. Similar to Bennett and UVa, but with a different style. Main point being, Drew is not a good coach.
VU doesn't have any reporters worth a shit but I don't recall any national folks linking him to the job. Would prefer him to JMU dude Holding out hope it's Sprinkle but seems he wants Washington and can't blame him
Next to 2 sweet 16, 2 elite eight, 2 conference title, and a national title banner, I'm sure they would
Burcar back Woodson back VU gonna have their 7th choice Linder has lost all momentum at WYO Thank god for Gerlufsen
I really have no idea. Seems like they should pivot to him if they don't think the Samford guy is a good fit (which I could understand given he's never been outside Bham at any level before)
He was up there with May for me on Michigan's list. One of those guys who seems to be able to coach and recruit, but I get why teams would be afraid of the lack of HC resume with just the one great year at Kennesaw State and the one year so far at USF. But those two years at those specific schools are pretty damn good. And he's got some recruiting chops down south from being at places like A&M and UGA.
Didn’t see a portal thread, but I saw Primo Spears entered again. Would he be the first guy to ever play for 4 different D1 schools in 4 consecutive years?
Dude had a top 50 offense at Columbia. Had them respectable for the first time in ages Took over a total dumpster fire at San Francisco and put them on stable ground. A big strength of his is hiring top tier staff members Seems like a great fit at Stanford where they'll be patient
I'm sure there's a reason why he's highly regarded Just expected to be more impressed by the W/L record 23-19 in conference his last 3 years at Columbia, 4 games above .500 in conference at USF, too
AMA anything about Byington. We thought we were getting him for the longest time and I was about the only WVU fan that didn't want him
So, I was all for the hire https://wvusports.com/news/2024/3/2...west-virginia-head-mens-basketball-coach.aspx And then I saw the kids are named TUCKER and TATUM. This is an ill omen.
SMU has a huge NIL program and boosters and they are pursuing some big names that can recruit and really selling themselves on their move to the ACC. They were trying to pursue Muss away from us for a bit too.
