He’s been on decent behavior for too long, just had to do something stupid. Sure he’ll say he didn’t mean to hit him in the face but swung his stick like a madman and deserves what they throw at him
You can try to find the magic number of games that will change player behaviour but it doesn’t exist.
Tell that to Raffi Torres. Suspend Wilson for the rest of the year and for good measure 10 games into next year.
They’ll regret it after the fact, sure. But as time passes, human nature will have them forget and they’ll re-offend in the heat of the moment. See Wilson, Tom last night.
If I get time tomorrow I’ll explain the #abolishsuspensions principles in detail. Warning: it requires an open mind. Watch this space.
I know everyone's been waiting for my Sharks notes considering it's Blackwood's first game back: 1. Sharks are outshooting Tampa 12-6 halfway through the game. And dominating it too 2. The Lightning have shot two pucks off of the officials so far. One knocked out a linesman, the other hit a ref and bounced in front of the net for an easy goal. Interesting strategy 3. The one linesman left is killing it, it's a hard job to do one blue line and he's skating around like Shoresy to get from one blue line to the other to make delayed offsides calls. Officiating gold medal as far as I'm concerned
Massive goal by VGK with a minute left and Seattle takes a timeout to buy time to challenge. Now we get to get our microscope because it's literally an inch either way Wow one frame they're both on the blue line, the next frame they're both in the o-zone. The closest I've ever seen
Gonna laugh so hard when one of these teams makes the playoffs with 85 points and then puts a scare into whoever is the 1 seed.
I could see it with NY or maybe Detroit. Washington wouldn’t scare anyone. Their advanced stats are terrible.
I know but we at least all know that detroit has the players that are capable. Washington not so much
disagree. That's a roster with some good young talent that is overrated, a bunch of mid tier vets on bloated contracts, and Patrick Kane.
No way this comes back to bite me, but I really don't see Tampa as a team to fear. They have lost a ton of depth and Vasi has been showing signs of mortality all year. Even in his god mode game against the Panthers last week, he gave up 3 and got bailed out by a literal handful of posts. Imo tampa is firmly in the "might have one last run in them" teritory.
im not sure larkin helps their absolutely miserable defense so im not sold on them yet after what seems to be every game for the last month before that
too many injuries. Dougie Hamilton just can't stay healthy. Also, not getting a goalie in the offseason was malpractice.
Detroit's expected goal share without Larkin> Detroit's expected goal share WITH Larkin. Their winning streak to start the calendar year was a complete mirrage.
I think Larkin is overpaid but those numbers seem like an outlier tbh. You’d definitely want him on the ice than not. Those defensive numbers though….
Good info. But at the same time, I don’t think anyway one is saying that Detroit’s ***checks notes*** three game winning streak to start the year over ***checks notes*** San Jose, LA, and Anaheim was any sort of indicator of anything.
oh sure. I was more correcting the narrative that the Wings were some kind of juggernaught to start 2024 because Larkin was on the ice when the reality is that they were playing mediocre hockey but getting favorable results Come on man, stop acting like Wings fans weren't feeling themselves regarding the results to start the calendar year.
I’ll try to rank them from best to worst of the current lineup: 1. Larkin 8x8.7M 2. DeBrincat 4x7.9M 3. Kane 1x2.8M 4. Walman 3x3.4M 5. Sprong 1x2.0M 6. Compher 5x5.1M 7. Rasmussen 4x3.2M 8. Maatta 2x3M 9. Copp 4x5.6M 10. Perron 1x4.8M 11. Petry 2x2.3M 12. Fabbri 2x4M 13. Chiarot 3x4.8M 14. Holl 3x3.4M Some great, some good, some tolerable, some bad. Definitely shouldn’t be hailed as a wizard with contracts. If he should be lauded anywhere it’s in trading.
watching them yesterday, and granted they were playing a AAAA team, but that top line is incredible. They can absolutely do enough to win a few series Fun fact: the Lightning have as many PPG as the Penguins and Flyers combined
Seider and Raymond contracts this offseason will be very interesting. I think bridging would be dumb, we aren't close enough to contending to justify it, and should just give both 8 years.
