Wings fans before the season: Wings really need to compete for a playoff spot this year. Wings on St. Patrick's Day: tenuous hold on the 8th playoff spot. Wings fans on St. Patrick's Day: Yzerman sucks, fire Yzerman!
I mean there are currently in the midst of what might be the greatest collapse of the salary cap era and are going to enter the offseason with more questions than answers. That isn’t progress
I don't want Yzerman fired, but I'm definitely calling his seat warm this offseason and expect a few major moves and upgrades. Make or break for him next year.
2013 Leafs are the only team I can think of that collapsed worse. They defied their underlying #s until March, and then had an epic collapse which culminated in the Boston playoff comeback.
Good discussion again on the Wings on one of the latest PDOcasts with Shapiro. They discussed Seider and his usage a few weeks ago and this one was more of a broad look at the team and the overall confusing construction. Worth a listen. Main points: the signings and roster decisions have been perplexing + have prevented any upward movement for young prospects + another discussion on Seider's usage and whether it will hamper his overall development moving forward.
What was their conclusion on Seider’s development? Personally, playing the toughest minutes is the best for his development. Sure it might not be the best for his stat sheet but we don’t need that from him.

Him and James were cringe picks from the jump. And not like end of the 2nd swings they were 40th and 47th picks.
You should listen to it. About the first 25 minutes of the podcast. It was more of a thought experiment (and indictment of the roster as currently constructed). They were merely wondering if we'll look back in 5-10 years and be like "oof, maybe the historically difficult deployment and usage Seider got wasn't good for him." Essentially they said there is no way to predict with any certainly, but it's worth asking given the monumentally difficult task he's been given. Short term (clawing into the playoffs) vs long term outlook (both Seider and the team at large)
This team gets out-chanced horribly every game. It’s insane how much more talent the roster needs to compete.
I am at the point that I would like to volunteer to just give the other team a 2-goal lead and start with the 2nd period because watching us give up these early goals to create a deficit every damn night is sucking the life out of me as a fake hockey fan.
I mean your options are try something or let this go on until end of season. Not saying this is all Lalonde fault, but he's done nothing to deserve to keep his job
Also what's the point of keeping Berggren up and healthy scratching him? Send him back down if you aren't playing him
doesn’t he have to stay up at this point now? Although I doubt they give a shit if they lose him via waivers.
