I'm trying to imagine a world where I'd rather watch a boring regular season nfl game over a rivalry game between two obnoxious fanbases. That world simply doesn't exist.
Andy Staples and the other weirdos want this to happen so bad. Their entire livelihoods are wrapped up in it.
My ‘guys’ have all gone pretty quiet. But it sounds like they (and UNC) are watching the ACC & FSU’s fight play out further (especially the ACC’s strategy) before taking action. The new movement on Friday was a positive. It always seemed like a settlement for the GoR was going to be the answer…and the ACC’s new approach and openness to FSU buying back their GoR seems to bear that out. We’ll see. March 22nd and August 15th are new important dates to watch.
espn can just dissolve the gor next year. i imagine they do so regardless of what happens before then.
That’s not a new development. That’s always been a thing. The reason the lawsuit happened is so we don’t have to pay $600mil to leave
if they think they can make more money off x numbers of schools with them being in others conferences.
God cfb and the structure that lends itself to insiders and in the know people and self important versions of those at each school is just so so good. I simultaneously hate realignment is killing the sport but this is tremendous content
Right wing, chip on shoulder, self-important is basically the Clemson mission statement. I thought they at least understood global warming though.
Being a deranged Taylor Swift fan while also being a deranged right winger is an incredible combination
if fsu litigates its way or buys its way out of the acc deal, it turns into an absolute albatross for espn.
maybe more money but not more value/profit And definitely not more value when you consider the loss of value of the ACC deal to ESPN without FSU
you may very well be right. i do think we're looking at the acc being shattered, finding new pieces to keep itself together, then probably staying in bed with espn.
