Day never commits to anything but certainly sounds that way Josh Fryar will play some guard this spring and the staff will evaluate and have conversations with him about a potential move to the interior this year. He could still factor in at tackle, however, Day said.
#Badgers coach Luke Fickell says that he believes former Titans coach (and Fickell's college teammate/roommate, and former ast. coach) Mike Vrabel will be around Wisconsin football in some capacity this year.
GGCD Curious to hear your thoughts on the future of the Wrestling progrum. Feels like we are in a nice spot for the next couple of years. Nic Bouzakis (R-Fr) and Jesse Mendez (So) look to be future AAs and competing for national titles in the coming years. Rocco Welsh (Fr), Ryder Rogotzke (Fr), Brendan McCrone (R-Fr), Vincent Kilkeary (Fr), Luke Geog (R-Fr), and Nick Feldman (R-Fr) have all had some really good wins and competed well in high-ranked losses. Then you have guys that could still develop into something like Paddy Gallagher (R-So) and Seth Shumate (R-Fr) What about the older guys- who can come back next season? Sammy Sasso, Carson Kharchla, Gavin Hoffman, Bryce Hepner That's not even factoring in our incoming recruits, which I'm not too familiar with, but I'd assume we are doing well there? Tom Ryan is a pretty good recruiter.
My favorite bit from 2011 was when the fake Jim Bollman account would complain that Fickell and Vrabel would not let him be a bro and fist bump Bollman.
You probably loved it when Spinner Shells and the Fake Urban Meyer account would joke around with each other
Jesse Mendez is going to compete for a title this year, imo. He's right there with the best guys in the weight, and for my money, he's the best in the country right now, he just needs to get over that peak mentally. He was better than both Mathews and Bartlett and he lost to both right at the end. Nic Bouzakis is definitely wrestling better than he was at the start of the season/Clarion Open, but I think he's still just a bloodround guy this season, maybe someone who can sneak into low AA. Welsh is a stud and going to be a really good one. but he's not ready yet. I think he's given up 2 takedowns all season? And he's wrestled some really top notch guys, including 2 NCAA Champs Rogotzke is a lot of fun to watch and there's a good chance he's going to pin you or lose. McCrone has exceded expectations and anything is possible at 125 this season, but he's not a guy i'd want to start for me for 4 years. Kilkeary is ok. Tough to score on. Needs to get bigger. Shumate i'd be surprised if he plays a significant role ever. He just hasn't gotten a ton better since his sophomore season of high school. Older guys all have more eligibility, iirc. I don't know if Kharchla or Hoffman will come back, that's a lot of injuries for both, especially kharchla. I think they might also have opportunities outside of wrestling. I'd imagine Hepner will be back. Sasso I believe intends to be back, but who knows, he went through hell. Long road to recovery. For next year the blue chip is Ben Davino, he's ranked #3 overall in the class of 2024, but could just as easily be 1 or 2. They're all close, and he's lost exactly one match in the last 2 years or so (and wrestled a ton of great guys, including beating 2025 #1 Marcus Blaze, who is a priority recruit for OSU). Davino should be a 133 after taking a redshirt next year and they'll have to figure out the Bouzakis-Mendez situation weight wise. Also in 2024 are #21 Ethan Birden who should be 165, and #27 Carter Neves who is a Heavy. Aside from Blaze in 2025 we will be recruiting Vince Bouzakis, Nic's brother, #15 in the country. He's much bigger than Nic. Maybe 165-174. Sorry Goose.
I have no idea how these things work nowadays. I haven’t bought a video game since NCAA14. Get off my lawn.
I did a cheat code to make my players invisible on NFL Blitz against my dad on PS1 and he has refused to play video games with me since
Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but Anthony Davis was on DLo's podcast this week and apparently confirmed that he was silently committed to OSU before ultimately signing with Kentucky. Spoiler: Feels bad man...
I think we save something like $6 million by waiting until April 1st. Not ideal, but nothing is happening until then. Mind you, the boosters should nut up and pony up now. The wealthy have been awash in cash since the start of covid. His buyout is nothing.
I refuse to watch anything he does but some said he got pissy in last night’s postgame when asked why Dale Bonner is bringing it up in crunch time I hate him
Not trying to motor post on a Wednesday but liked the article from on3 about how there’s no more slogans or any of that bullshit, Day is more ruthless than ever For me, he’s always been ruthless but now at Saban levels
If anyone is still listening to what that helpless loser is saying that's on them for wasting their time on this planet doing so.
I watched it, he got real short with Steve Helwagen. Steve asked why Bruce and Roddy haven’t touched the ball the last couple times we’ve been in that situation. His response was they scored on it before. Thought Steve’s questions were legit. Could definitely tell he’s feeling the pressure.
Thursday 2/29 the men’s basketball team host Nebraska. This could be a candidate for lowest attendance in the last 20-25 years.
Loy thinks Ohio Stare leads for this kid. Just release a final 5 of Ohio State, Bama, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Duke. https://247sports.com/player/anthony-sacca-46128467/ I think Birm said they’re probably looking at taking at least 3 LB’ers in the class, so I’d expect they’d take him and Alford early?
